Considering the speed of memory in iPads and iPhones maxes out at 60-70MB/s only if you have an app or file that can actually saturate that bandwidth, it means the iPad Pro maxes out at up to 140MB/s....again only if that bandwidth can even be utilised by mobile apps and file formats. That will be rare, but will be helpful for very high res video.

Yup, and I've read that some "studio quality" commercials are filmed on the iPhone 5S and iPhone 6. Absolutely amazing what can be done.

Apple has basically killed the P&S camera and the average camcorder. With 4K rendering, they are going to kill a lot more.
Some in my family still insist on using a p&s to take pictures and record video. When they ask me if I want to borrow one I say, "why? My phone takes better and it's easier to edit and upload." They never trust me. *shrugs*

Clearly Apple has taken note of the over 1 Billion Bucks MS has taken in on the Surface. While iPad sales dwarf Surface sales SP3 has stepped into Apple territory of creating a category. Reading here it becomes clear that many have never tried SP3. It will certainly be interesting to see if/how the tides shift with SP4.

I think their main complain is about the age old file system, but that's the ancient way of doing things. It's understandable because people are used to it since the first OS was built. Other things are just minors.
Lol. It's the only way to do most things. Not having a file system is a joke.

if not anything iPad Pro is check mate against Intel (if CPU is faster than 80% of the mobile PCs and GPU is faster than the 90% of the mobile CPUs).

Instead of paying Intel $250 to $300 range for the CPU/GPUs, apple could make them about $100.

But at $799 not sure how attractive it is. But I know during holidays it will be easily had for less than that.

who knows it might sell very well. again 32GB is a concern if iPad pro going to be replace mobile PCs.

I'm a pro photographer and I don't think I'm their target market either. Problem is the same as every generation of iPad before it.. getting content onto it is an utter bitch. It's all very well having this power what to do with it? 4x 4k Streams? Pointless. Unless the only reason they lay that claim is so you can use your 4k video from your new iPhone 6s in iMovie. Neither are professional tools. It's like having a massive penis and no testicles.

With the release of the MACBOOK that runs OSX ONLY me i was sure since then that if apple will release an iPAD PRO will have iOS for sure?? wtf whats the point of macbook IF they intended to release an iPAD PRO with OSX?
from multitouch stand point OSX would have been a disaster, trust me, they had to focus for OSX to be for mac and for touch input...so double the effort and i dont think apple can and have the brain to deliver both segments perfectly. Even so they have bugs and some UI lag sometimes etc.
iPAD Pro is just the beginning..with iOS9 multitask in mind and the accessories but this is APPLE and we know they give us little features this year and little next year for the same device. So i am sure that with iOS10 you will have features like multi users accounts, and almost all the pro apps from OSX to iOS10 as well etc

may be apple finally figure out why 12" Macbook slow or slow to sell... :)

common guys, MICROSOFT presenting OFFICE on Apple stage...thats POWER of the APPLE brand.
Even Microsoft knows what is and more important will be in the next 2-3 year the iPAD pro with the iOS that clearly opens up for more productivity

This is light enough and large enough to use on my music stand to replace sheet music (the iPad was just too small for my eyes) but I don't have any other use for it.

Still not the product for me. I'm clearly a laptop guy, haha.

To consider an iPad, it would have to run Adobe Flash CC, Final Cut Pro X, proper desktop Minecraft. Even then I'd hit a roadblock somewhere, like using game emulation software, or if I begun using Autodesk Maya more regularly.

If you read Becoming Steve Jobs (or any book that details the development of iPad) you'll know why this will never happen.

In fairness, Steve said the pen (whoops, pencil) would never happen either. Apple will follow MS with a full OS on this one or lose this segment.

I think a lot of folks still judge price and value based on size. Because the iPad Pro is smaller than a 13" laptop believe it should be priced lower.

Until Apple put couple usb-c ports and external monitors and storage could be used with iPad you couldn't compare it to laptop.

I have heard this quite a bit since the iPad Pro's introduction so I have two serious questions for everyone in the OS X on the iPad camp:

1. What would be the benefit of running Mac OS X?

2. What apps would you like to run that there isn't already an optimized iOS equivalent available?

Photoshop. Lightroom. Final Cut. XCode.

No, the iOS versions of Photoshop and Lightroom aren't up to speed. They're basically "light" versions. There's no Final Cut, only iMovie. There's no coding options whatsoever.

My wife uses Photoshop and Lightroom, and I use XCode, quite heavily.

If Apple wants to get people producing "pro" apps for iOS, they should take the lead, IMO. Give me XCode for iPad Pro, and I might consider buying an iPad Pro. Until then, it just runs "light" versions of pro apps, with the sole exception of drawing apps.

This +10000

It's a serious PITA to move data in/out of an iOS device with just Wireless AC/silly lightning usb 2.0 port. Does Apple seriously expect us to use iCloud to move 4K files that eat up almost 0.5 gb per minute!?

Heck even the Macbook Retina with it's single USB 3.0 port(which BTW went for $1200 or so a couple of weeks ago on sale) is a superior 4K editing machine to the iPad pro. The rMBP 13 also routinely goes for $1100 all the time with 128gb of storage....

He said if you *need* a stylus, you've failed. You don't need a stylus to operate iPad Pro any more than I need my wacom pen to operate my MacBook... They're both accessories - both sold as such - for more niche use-cases.

Trust me, Apple is comming next year with his air drop and storage with their own file system management (like an my computer or finder " from win or osx and you can copy paste delete from each other idevices easy ver easy.
