Surface Book is deluded? Tim, you'd sell a lot more of these iPad Pros if users were able to run OS X on it and pair a mouse with it. Better yet, let the iPad Pro run OS X and also run iOS apps. Best of both worlds, but then Apple would probably charge $1,299 minimum for it.

Honestly if Apple sold a Pro that could run both OSX and iOS $1,299 would be both an amazing feat and price and I bet they'll get there within 5 years. Even now I'm confident Apple will smoke the sales of the Surface Book.

And the best part about it is the Surface Pro 4 at $999 outperforms both the entry level MacBook Pro and the iPad Pro while doing everything both can do... and more. I only need one device that is cheaper than either individually! :D

I think poor old Timothy forgot all about the Surface Pro 4, he's too busy telling us how delightful his little iPad Pro is.

I can't believe that the iPad Pro can actually outperform that Monstrous Performance beast the Retina MacBook, isn't that more powerful than a 2010 Netbook, I'm sure I read somewhere that it is.

Apple stores are filled with dumb people.
This is so true. I love the iPhone but the intelligence of their employees there has gone from rocket scientist to high school dropout in just a few years. Who does their employee hiring anyway? I got an iPhone fixed three times because they could not get it right each time until the last attempt. The Microsoft Store reps actually know what they are talking about and are very tech savvy.

Huh? It does sell well and is growing quarter over quarter where iPad is declining. iPad is selling more, but they have to do something to reverse the trend. Hence the (poor) surface pro replica: iPad pro.

it is true. the surface sales has been declining. you can check the Microsoft quarterly statements. I think this is the reason the book was released. Not everyone wants a hybrid.

Look, I can only tell you my SP3 issues that made me move to the iPad and hope Microsoft fixed them. Edge drains battery and the fan goes off when you look at it wrong. And when the fan goes off, battery life goes down,
Just use IE--problem solved. Edge has had issues and is still being developed, which they've said as much. Besides, the latest version of Edge in Threshold 2 has essentially no reported issues.

I disagree. I would not want to run a full OS on a tablet. It won't work. That's why the iPad sells so well. And hey - guess what? The typing experience on the new iPad Pro is amazing, even without a keyboard attachment. Because the keys are so much bigger, it actually feels amazing to type on.

I do not want a full OS on my tablet device. If it's going to be a full OS, it needs to specifically customized for a touch screen. Windows 10 isn't there yet, sadly.

I love my iPad Pro, and it positively destroys the iPad Air 2. Can't see myself going back.

To be honest, you're not "lucky"... Everyone basically has them in stock because few will buy them. I am not knocking the iPad Pro, I'm just saying not many will buy it for whatever reason (they already have a regular iPad, the price, etc.).

My local Apple Sore ( Monterey, Ca.) was out when I went by at 11:00 am this morning.

I'm on the insider build. I can list a few issues with Edge. But you're right, IE is probably a better option until Redstone. If only it was a little better with touch.

I know, right? I benchmarked an i5 Surface Pro 4 and it got 3.41 in Cinebench R11.5. The entry level Macbook Pro 2015 ($1299) gets 3.3 and is more than double the weight! Similar wins over the MBP in Geekbench, 3DMark and other benchmarking tools.

I think it speaks more to the death of the MacBook than it does the surge of the iPad.

Also, how is it that a MacBook Air, which from my impressions is intended to be a lighter-use notebook, outperforms the same generation MacBook (not Air)?
Your impression is wrong.
The macbook is for light users, the macbook air provides alround most balanced performance/battery and the pro maximum performance and connectivity.

My wife would love to have an iPad Pro with the Apple Pencil as she is a professional illustrator. That's what Apple's iPad Pro and Apple Pencil were made for, for professional illustrators and of course for everyone who wants and need a bigger screen. Look over Procreate and you'll be amazed. Search for Nikolai Lockertsen, a professional illustrator that only uses an iPad for work.

Hmm, so they conveniently choose to compare the top of the line iPad to a not top of the line macbook with discrete GPU for a graphics test - Lies, Damned Lies and Statistics

List them. Granted, you should be on build 10586 and the latest Intel graphics driver for them to be valid at this point. Without both, you will have issues given the nature of the previous drivers and builds.

Yeah, the SP4 is quite the engineering achievement. I kind of wish Apple would have learned something in regards to keyboards, for example. Also, that we're willing to have a little heavier tablets if we want them to replace laptops.

No that is incorrect. Surface Pro has been growing. Specifically, up 44% this past quarter. And this is why Apple released the SurPad Pro. ;)

i like the surface book, tim cook of course cant see any good. even with apple products, no next gen features on it :( but i only like apple computers, gash whats wrong with me

I don't have a fan on my SP4, so it obviously never comes on. Though it does stay cool to the touch while browsing and watching movies. It barely generates any heat whatsoever unless I'm really pushing the hardware to its absolute limits.

And battery life concerns with Edge? It does drain faster than doing the same thing in Safari on my iPad would, but it's not absolutely obscene. I'd say I lose somewhere around ~12% an hour while browsing.

Considering that the Surface doesn't sell that well despite the constant chatter on tech sites, and the tablet portions sucks and the laptop portion isn't that great. Yes, I've used it. Not sure what the hell you're talking about.
Source for the statement that it doesn't sell well please?

My understanding surface Pro 3 is a runway hit, they shrunk it in Surface 3, and released a successor (Surface 4), and a spin off (Surface Book)

Nice to see you created a new account to say this. /s

Looks like I'm up to date, just getting a cumulative update right now on my SP3. My main issues come from flash, site rendering, and RAM use. I can easily have a single tab take up 400mb or RAM for WC. I also have issues typing stuff on some forums because the cursor disappears at times depending on the forum. YouTube is the bane of my battery. These are issues that is likely not their fault.

I get less than 4 hours of battery life when doing my normal browsing on Edge. Then again, my normal browsing generally involves videos. iPad has apps which take less power for whatever reason than flash.

Only 2 problems with the surface pro:
- the hardware is not as refined
- it isn't as good as an iPad in tablet mode and it is not a good laptop
