iPad Pro With Triple-Lens Camera System Appears in Alleged 'Final Design Mockup'

I'd have expected it to use the same camera module as the Pro phones, so the cameras, flash and mic to all be in the same place?

Would the thick camera bump cause the device to wobble while being placed on a flat surface or cause the camera to scratch in the long run?
Would they address the bending issue this time around?

I do see people on occasion take pics/video with ipads at school events. But it makes much more sense to use these for scanning documents.

School events where a giant iPad is lifted and blocking the view of parents sitting behind them. :(

If it were a built in 3D Scanner.. it'd be awesome.

3D Printing is cool, but being able to do 3D scans for future 3D printing scanning is even cooler.

iPad? What took you so long?

Jokes aside, I really hate camera bumps. I don't put my devices in cases and with a bump you pretty much have too because they won't even sit on a flat surface without rocking.

I can't believe Apple can't design a tapered chassis like they do the lap tops or iMacs that cleverly absorbs this bulk and still maintains a svelte look.

Yes, it is annoying for sure.

I like your 3D scanning idea!

I’ve got had a lot of iPads - like 10 of them. probably taken 50 photos... mostly for ebay or documents.

I can imagine grannies that have iPads use them a lot as they likely don’t have an iPhone.

What apple should be doing is magnetic wireless camera modules that you can remove - now that could be useful for an iPad for various reasons. Scanning etc. Hand held stabilisers for the module etc.

They could develop specialist cameras for things - IR / 3D Scanners etc.

Makes sense from a manufacturing point to use the same guts in all devices.
Slomo selfie is of utmost importance...
Not joking, I do like the advancement of cameras on our devices, 99% of us never have our good camera out or with us when an awesome shot comes up. So bring it on.

I use my iPad for photos because there’s little space left on my current phone, and the iPad takes better pics. I don’t see what’s wrong with using whatever you happen to have on you. Should I put my iPad away and take out my phone just because some people believe a small screen is better than a large one for the same purpose? I just don’t get it.

So forget using that on a table or desk without a case. Wobble wobble wobble

This.

Pointless even bothering to make it super thin if it’s basically unusable without a thick plastic/leather/silicone case to make it lay flat, so I don’t understand this design process at all.

If they go with this protruding camera, it should be an optional extra and so have a flat camera-less option to choose from.

That doesn’t look like it was just glued on there... lol
If that’s real... it was beaten with the ugly stick too hard.
Look like a ugly square meatball with no hair. ;)

My 3rd gen 12.9” iPad Pro is perfect for my needs in very way.

Won’t upgrade until they put a better screen inside
And even then, I think an increase in PPI and maybe HDR10+ MicroLED is what will be the best upgrade for the screen. It already has support for HDR and is really bright, but I wouldn’t complain about an “XDR” display but with MicroLED instead of OLED.

New iPad camera...the Spork of in device cameras ;)

Oh I suppose I’d complain if I bought one and it didn’t have the latest/greatest. But I’d rather have the camera on my iPhone.

Guys, Apple doesn't always supply features people find useful. They just need to do something each year to be able to say it's an improved model. And to be honest, if that's the camera module they're making for iPhones, it might actually be cheaper to use them in iPads than to make a separate camera for a lower volume product. Not to mention the cost of writing separate iPad-only software for an iPad-only camera. Like most things, the most cost effective way is to build iPads from older iPhone parts.

well, if the iPhone 11s are not so sexy, this is even worse: it looks like a postcard with a stamp on it...

besides that... I am awaiting for a high refresh rate OLED screen on the iPad PRO....
..and, in the meantime, some bargain price on the current iPad PROs...

I just want OLED. I really dislike the screen on my iPad Pro. The high refresh is nice, but watching dark movies is always awful on the iPad.

We just had a redesign in 2018....

Redesign every 2 years mate. Get with the program.

You people seem to always want something else. Bigger screen. 16.9 screen (and still shoot vertical), bezelless screen. The list goes on and on. And now it’s 5G.

5G is literally here, with certain devices already getting it. Why would I not ask for it?

Why is a 2 year redesign necessary? You can only do so much with a rectangular slab of aluminum and glass.

And regarding 5G, unless you live in the specific cities AND areas that support 5G, it is essentially useless for everyone else. It will take the US until 2025 for it to even be viable in those regions. What about rural and suburban areas that have yet to even receive 4G LTE, how many decades before they even receive 5G. I suggest you get off your high horse on it.

Have a better day love, as I’m not going to entertain you 5G purists anymore.
Xoxo
