They don't have pricing power because their product has been commoditized...unlike iPhone.
[doublepost=1541182527][/doublepost]
It is what it is. That's business 101. People like iPhones and Apple has pricing power, period. The numbers prove it. More iPhones sold than the prior year with increased prices. 216M vs 218M phones, but 20% higher revenue. Looks good to me.
So what you 're saying is that they just put a 20% price hike in for no real reason.. excellent.. long may that continue.. I hope they raise the prices time and again.. it's hilarious..

Yeah, and those are the ones that don't sell enough units to even approach iPhone.

They might make nice phones...but they run Android. The bias is the software. You still don't understand that. I don't make up the numbers. People buy iPhones because they like them and that starts with software.
You think I care how many they sell? I sure as hell don't. The only thing I care about is a really nice phone which does every thing I need it to do cost me $230. As far as Android goes, you think I care because I don't. I don't give two ***** about Apple, Google, Microsoft, Samsung etc.

Hey, Android works great for me and so does iOS. I'm not getting into a fanboy debate on which one is better. The bottom line for me is that Huawei makes feature rich, quality phones for a fraction of the price of its competitors.
[doublepost=1541183309][/doublepost]
lol. Americans would rather defend a Chinese state owned company than their own.
They don't even know why Huawei is banned in the US.
Can't wait for China to crush the US in every other category. You deserve it :)
I know why (insert Washington Neocons making up **** towards another Country that doesn't want to play ball with the US) and I still don't care.

I wonder how many people would buy iPhones or how many Apple would really sell if carriers didnt offer payment plans for them. I don't buy on payment plans, I bought my galaxy S9+ for $450 cash thru Att. If Att offers a bogo and you cant use it because you dont have DirecTV or 2 lines they will let you buy one 1/2 off for cash.
Your S9 runs Android. You’re not understanding the draw to remain with iOS.

People don’t want to switch to Android.

The new phones have new features. FaceID is awesome and secure. That costs money. iOS is great...that costs money. The iPhone X is a better phone and worth the premium over the old design. Now all phones in their 2018 lineup have that design.

Don’t like it, buy an Android...

Because if they didn’t, no one would buy a Huawei. Once they get a following, watch them increase prices. They would charge more, but they can’t.

Btw, the “sticker” price for the P20 Pro is $1100...not exactly cheap.

Where you get that from?

Apple still sold more than Samsung and amazon combined

super cheap ones may sell well. For the most part tab aside they are pretty poor quality. For most people their iPads last them years as they see no reason to upgrade

Individual sales is all that matters which apple still crushes the market

I got this from the article. iPad share is 27%. The rest is mostly Android (70% give or take).

Again, who the hell cares because I sure as don't. I paid $230 for a pretty slick phone, that's the bottom line for me. The people at the top running those companies are the one's who have to worry about pricing strategies, not me. I bought a Mate SE for $230 not a P20. That's stupid money and my wallet is filled with stupid money that I refuse to part with.

My point is if carriers didnt offer patment plans most iPhone buyers wouldn't or couldnt shell out 1-1500k for a phone. Carriers are helping Apple sell devices.

I understand why these articles are written but it does not take a research firm to learn that less iPhones and iPads will be sold over $1000 than when their cost was hidden by subsidies.

It is not change in America, Europe and Japan, much less in the rest of the work where that sum may be the same or more than a month’s salary.

Units will keep dropping as devices are able to run the latest versions of apps for a longer period of time. Revenue is a different matter and what actually matters at the end of the day.

And Apple is helping carriers sell service plans and push data. Big deal. Why do you think carriers run promotions?

What you don't realise fella is that these lads that drop a grand on a handset, they have certain issues... that can only be addressed by buying over priced toys that make them feel.better about themselves... sad but true...

Of course. A large percentage of these phones are financed through carriers or directly through Apple.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 is the best tablet for those "who are looking just to browse the web and social media". It's affordable, has the best screen (OLED). It's thinner and lighter than the competing tablets.

Google has basically ended support for tablets in Android.

And what tablets do you claim outsell the iPad?

I think Huawei will overtake Samsung soon.

It’s quite old now though and is about 2 generations of the OS behind.

I'd normally prefer to support a local or NATO country manufactured device but both Apple and Huawei are Chinese made. Between the two Huawei offers better value with an edge in quality. That's why Huawei has surpassed Apple to become #2.

Apple is the biggest taxpayer in the US and employs thousands of Americans, but "smart" Americans think they should support Huawei instead. Even if you don't like Apple, you could use Google's pixel.

Anyway, I'm not American. Why should I worry about you guys. Everyone knows that America is in decline and soon will be replaced by China who has smart leaders and smart people.

Wow, an s9 is a commodity, but 200 million iPhones a year are some sort of specialist niche luxury product, boy you are a piece of work young fella.. do you actually believe this codswallop you keep spouting..

LULZ WUT? Might want to check those numbers. Clearly Apple outsells every other vendor.

iOS vs Android, with Apple having 34.9%, "better than 2:1" simply isn't possible.

https://www.statista.com/statistics/276635/market-share-held-by-tablet-vendors/

As the article clearly states, last quarter iPad unit sales represented 26.6% of the tablet market. The chart does not show what the windows tablet share is but I assume it's low. So about 70% belongs to Android. The latest point available on the chart you referenced is for Q2. Apparently iPad sales dropped significantly in Q3. BTW, statista uses IDC data (same as this article). So I am just using fresher data (more appropriate given that this article is about Q3). Also, if you look at the statista's chart you'll notice that in the last three years iPad market share was roughly around 25%. Q2 was a good quarter for iPads but now the things are back to "normal".
[doublepost=1541189127][/doublepost]
Do you mean if you added up the sales of all the android tablets?
Yes. That was in response to the claim that "Google has basically ended support for tablets in Android".

So can you break down which Android Tablets sold more than iPads? You're lumping all Android Tabs together as if they were one company.

How about how many Samsung vs Apple Tablets?
Amazon vs Apple Tablets?

Just curious because a lot of people like to say Android vs iPhone where it should be manufacturer vs manufacturer, not OS (Android) vs manufacturer (Apple).

Also, everyone - honest question: Would you rather make more profit or sell more items with much less profit?

I'm just saying if carriers didn't offer payments many many people would just buy cheap phones instead of flagships whether it be Apple Galaxy Lg or whatever. Imvho most who buy flagships through their carrier dont have $1000's laying around to buy the family or themselves $1,000 phones.

I am a consumer. Would I rather the tablet manufacturer made more profit from me? No. The numbers for Samsung and Amazon are available in the article. I mentioned Android tablets as a category while replying to the claim that Android tablets are dead. There are different contexts. In some, it makes sense to compare vendor vs vendor. In other contexts, talking about OS (ecosystem) is more appropriate.

Fair enough. FYI I primarily use an iPad Pro as my main driver (editing drone pictures and videos using Affinty and LumaFusion on the go for business) and I have numerous Android tablets I've tinkered with for fun (rooting etc) but I get your point - was just trying to clarify.

Um, yes? iOS can raise prices and sell 218M at over $700. How many Android phones are sold at $700 and above, combined?

Off the top of my head, the Galaxy S9 and Note 8 and 9/Google Pixel 3 and 3XL/LG G7 and V40/Huawei Mate 10 Pro and Mate 20/Razer Phone 2/HTC U12+ all sell for above $700 and that is just for this year. And I would wager that all those combined have sold more than 218 million units. But I'm guessing there.

Just playing devil's advocate
