Stating that Huawei makes excellent smart phones is not defending it. It’s just putting out a hard cold fact that Apple needs to acknowledge whether or not the Huawei is banned in the USA. Because these phones are banned, but earlier crap quality stuff wasn’t, a lot of people aren’t aware how good Huawei phones have become. Again, that’s not defense, just a statement of fact.lol. Americans would rather defend a Chinese state owned company than their own.
They don't even know why Huawei is banned in the US.
Can't wait for China to crush the US in every other category. You deserve it![]()
They likely didn't sell over 218M...or even close. None of these numbers are reported (gee, makes it seem like Apple isn't that off base here, huh) but these are the "estimate" by analysts covering the companies.Off the top of my head, the Galaxy S9 and Note 8 and 9/Google Pixel 3 and 3XL/LG G7 and V40/Huawei Mate 10 Pro and Mate 20/Razer Phone 2/HTC U12+ all sell for above $700 and that is just for this year. And I would wager that all those combined have sold more than 218 million units. But I'm guessing there.
Just playing devil's advocate
Why is market share relevant to consumers? Cheerleading market share is just as vomit inducing as ASP. Huawei sold more smartphones, Apple made more profit. end of story. Why is ASP relevant to a consumer? Cheerleading for ASP is about the most vomit-inducing thing I've seen end users do in technology.
Huawei sold more smart phones. They might be crap - and I think they are - but they sold more. End of story. No need for anyone to get out their pram or encourage Apple to gouge us even more.
Apple is the biggest taxpayer in the US and employs thousands of Americans, but "smart" Americans think they should support Huawei instead. Even if you don't like Apple, you could use Google's pixel.
Anyway, I'm not American. Why should I worry about you guys. Everyone knows that America is in decline and soon will be replaced by China who has smart leaders and smart people.
Like I said, just playing devils advocate. I didn't mention the other phones still sold in 2018 that were over $700 like the S8, Note 8, S9+, S8+, V30, and so on. But your point is taken... Apple destroys all companies when it comes to phone profits, which is why I own Apple stock! Makes me happy when they sell a ton (and why I'm said right now, because the last 2 days have been killer on my stocks, simply because Apple reported number of units sold). I hate analysts ability to manipulate the stock market with their "estimates".They likely didn't sell over 218M...or even close. These are per year estimates:
Samsung S9: 40M
Note 9: 12M (based on Samsung's own target)
Pixel: 4M
Razer Phone: <1M
HTC U12: <1M
Huawei P20: ~25M (based on disclosed 10M in 5 months)
Huawei Mate 10: ~12M (Based on disclosed 10M in 10 months)
LG V: <3M
LG g7: <3M
Of the ones I mentioned, the total is ~100M. Just to make it more fair, let's call it 125M. Bottom line, Apple owns this market.
We've seen countless times reports of Apple making over 90% of the mobile smartphone profits. This is why.
Yes smart leaders and smart people who only know how to usurp, steal and copy. Name one thing in the past 100 years that China
has invented that has shaped and improved the modern world? Torture, oppression, murder don't count... Come on, let's see your list.
Who are their Steve Jobs, Henry Ford, Edison, Jennings, Salk, etc etc etc etc etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc?

SO sick of news like these. Huawei sells phones starting from 100 ish dollars and up. Apple sells WAYYY more expensive phones than these. "Huawei overtakes Apple" no....they did not. They will never in terms of profitability and in high end devices. Literally NOBODY will buy Huawei phones if they're priced like an iPhones and the P20 smthn (no fkn clue of the name lol) is an incredibly a niche market with probably less audience than the pixel audience.
Its the same as saying "Honda overtakes Lamborghini in total qty sold". Selling more $14k civic than $250k Lamobo is supposed to happen because its cheaper. Huawei sells most of their phones in China you know why? Because majority of the people of China have lower disposable income compared to developed countries obviously. No money = buy cheap phones.
An Wang came from China. He was given a US Patent for Core Memory which he sold to IBM. He developed the desktop electronic calculator with a digital display. He started Wang Laboratories, made the Word Processor for businesses. He also was developing vertical layered magnetic data writing for disk drives. Wang also was one of the first to develop and sell optical imaging systems. I used to work for Wang Labs back in the 80's. A fabulous person and a genius. He took care of his employees and treated them like family.Yes smart leaders and smart people who only know how to usurp, steal and copy. Name one thing in the past 100 years that China

The previous gen won’t sell as many as new gen, particularly with Samsung. Their phone sales tend to die quickly and have little staying power. They just saw it with the S9 by shipping lower quarter over quarter.I think if you count the previous generation of those premium phone, then you have twice the volume. Also, many of those companies have half yearly renewal cycle.

Even if you doubled everything, it’s only 200M premium phones for all those companies. Apple would still be ahead and those didn’t come close to,200M shipments.
No one cares about specs like 4gb of ram vs 8gb, but iPhones have industry leading silicon, top 3 cameras, top screens, and the most advanced facial recognition. If you consider the high proportion of those iPhones 5e/6s/7/7s as premium that apple also sell
in that case why not include all the Xiaomi Samsung A-series, oppo, vivo since those phones easily have much better specs than most iphones.

Yep, and now they just need to consider updating the Mini and my family and I will throw more money at them. What’s interesting is, I don’t even see any other marketing for tablets except for the iPad, sometimes the Galaxy ‘Tab’ has some marketing, but mainly it’s the iPad. I think consumers are generally attracted to what is put in front of them, and being that Apple has an entry-level version and all the way up to the iPad Pro provides more diversity depending on what one’s uses are.
You’re correct. Except for every “fact” in this post is FUD.Leading silicon that has shown to perform slower in daily apps usage. Faceid that is 3x slower to unlock than fingerprint, top screen that belongs in the basement bargain bin ( 800p XR screen) or camera that consistently have to play catchup to competitors previous generation camera.
Just depends on how you want to look at it
According to your hyperboleExcept for every “fact” in this post is FUD.
If I had a huge services sector I was making money off of and dependant on a large user base to grow, I would want to sell a lot of units. So can you break down which Android Tablets sold more than iPads? You're lumping all Android Tabs together as if they were one company.
How about how many Samsung vs Apple Tablets?
Amazon vs Apple Tablets?
Just curious because a lot of people like to say Android vs iPhone where it should be manufacturer vs manufacturer, not OS (Android) vs manufacturer (Apple).
Also, everyone - honest question: Would you rather make more profit or sell more items with much less profit?

But you can’t buy this phone officially in the US.The P20/P20 Pro series has been a massive success for Huawei on ALL fronts. Including sales. Over 10,000,000 sold (I believe in the quarter after release).
The Twilight finish set a trend.
The tri camera setup has been so successful that Apple's latest iPhone XS Max still hasn't caught up with the six month old P20 Pro.
No one has been able to match Night Mode.
Apple has only now caught up with last year's Mate 10 modem.
Huawei is way ahead on battery tech. Supercharge and now Supercharge 2 have really delivered.
Dual simultaneous VoLTE, dual SIM, better GPS tracking, Twin App, AIIS, reverse charging, ... The list goes on.
Huawei had plus $1,000 phones long before Apple. It currently has phones over $2,000.
Yes, it makes cheap phones, but it makes mid tier phones, premium phobep and ultra premium phones too.
For the last four years it has been moving into the high end bands with huge success.
The Mate 20 Pro (released two weeks ago) is the phone of the year for many reviewers and Huawei today revealed that pre orders are 40% higher than for the P20 Pro.
I love the idea and form factor of tablets, and freely admit the iPad is king by miles due to lack of interest from other brands.
What upsets me the most is here we have amazing hardware, from Apple, and others, if they really put their mind to it)
But it's the software that's letting them down.
Let's take the Switch, against an iPad Pro. Putting price aside, the iPad pro would leave the switch in the dust, but the Switch will have 100x better full games that will be created for any ipads, other than the odd demo game to show it off.
1st we need a PROPER physical controller method, either from Apple or fully supported by Apple, and we then need the AAA titles.
Problem is, it needs to be a 100% strong gaming commitment from Apple to make all this happen.
Getting the public to pay for full AAA titles on a tablet is dam hard unless it's fully backed by the maker.
