If you don't take into account performance and screen, then definitely there is not much difference, because those are its selling points.

For people who don't have an iPad Mini yet, this is the one to get. Lack of retina display is something that I couldn't put up with, that's why I didn't get the previous one.

LOL. My thoughts exactly!

its not crazy faster than the gen 1 mini, but the lag is gone. there's definately some lagging with the gen 1. this time it's perfect! ;)

my screen is coming alive.. getting better and better the more i use it. This holds tru to all idevices.

I love the rMini display and personally do not even notice the lower color gamut. Then again I am just enjoying the heck out of it not obsessing over every little potential fault. The lower color gamut was by design and is not really a flaw unless you need a100% gamut for whatever you are using the rMini to do.

Nailed it man.. Life is too short to not enjoy the little things

Love mine too!!! First mini and it's the perfect size for all the family. I have a 3 year old and it's a lot easier for her to use than the air would be.

I bought the Air and returned it because it was till too big. Bought the retina mini today. I love it. Only wish they had the cellular versions in stock but I'm contemplating just keeping the wifi. My iPhone 5s is always on me anyway.

I've had a wifi mini for the past 7 months (just sold it and upgrading to the mini retina).

When I looked into it, adding tethering to my iphone data plan was much easier and more economical than having a separate data plan for the iPad. When I was traveling, I activated tethering. It was a breeze to use and worked well, the one time I tried it!. I ended up cancelling it after a few days because I never needed it. There was Wifi everywhere.

YMMV.

iPad rMini is amazing!!!

I'm actually more wowed by the ipad air, really tempted to pick that up instead and return the retina mini

That's what I did, couldn't be happier now with the Air. I'm amazed every time I pick it up by how light it is for a 9.7" tablet.

I honestly don't know what everyone is complaining about.

This is the most amazing device I've ever owned.

Haha. I get that feeling when they do those unboxing videos. They put the iPad screen down on the desk and slide it around showing all the sides etc. Poor screen.

lol, or when they do product shots of the MBP on concrete. I'm like, "are you a madman?!"

Two questions:

1. Are you keeping both or did you buy for a SO?

2. Why are you putting both of those poor Minis in danger by laying them flat on tile????? I don't care how clean the tile is...!

Have had mine since Friday and love it. The screen is fantastic don't know what everyone is on about? Looks vibrant, colourful and better than any other device i have used. Perfect size, beautiful build quality and just generally a joy to use. The perfect device in my opinion.

I just got my rMini. The form factor is nice, but different than a full-size iPad.

The text on many websites are too small with in Portrait mode. I saw there is a way to enlarge text but it appears on this site with Safari. dynamic text enlargement does not work with Safari??

Any ideas on this.. Thx

I use Mercury browser which let's you set font size for different sites. I've been using the Mini since last year and really love the size, can someone show me a text comparison between the two? I do a lot of reading in low light levels, with the first mini it can be challenging.
