Anti-iPad crowd is great for lulz!

The number is counting all iPads that access the internet...

In the downtown Apple store, there are at least 30 iPads with people playing on them. Multiply that by all the stores selling iPads, reviewers with test devices, and even engineers who use test devices and my guess is that the number is inflated by thousands. On the other hand, that's still a heck of a lot of iPads.

I'm amazed at the people who get offended by Apple criticism.

So how is your Zune?

Can you tell me of a discussion board of new microsoft products? I've never used a Zune but I'd like to drop by one of these boards ad infinitum and tell them they should listen to music my way.

I'm amazed at the people who get offended by troll criticism.

Older Apple keyboards supply 100mA (milli ampere) only per USB port; that only works for devices that need very little power, like a mouse or a scanner/printer that has its own power supply and doesn't need power from USB. I always have my printer plugged into the keyboard, works fine.

Newer Apple keyboards supply 500mA (milli ampere) per USB port, which is the standard for supplying USB devices with powers. However, that standard power only gives you 2.5 Watt, not enough to charge an iPad.

USB ports on your computer _can_ supply more power which may be enough. to charge an iPad.

I'm glad someone finally answered this. I was actually pretty curious about why this was happening to some and not others.

wifi issues are limited, and mostly imagined. not inhibiting real use at all. you're in a fantasy land inside your own head.

I don't know if it is really fair to say that it is imagined. I don't have one so I can't say from personal experience, but I'm sure for the people that this is happening to, it's pretty real and if they are the ones who are going out and actually spending the money on it, then they probably aren't just anti-ipad trolls. It may just be some sort of technical error or user error, but until there is a fix, it's something that is bothering consumers now. Lets just hope there is an answer soon as to what's causing it to happen. How funny would it be if it really was something with the brightness...:D

... Apple had already announced "over 300,000" iPads sold on Saturday

Didn't that report include shipments to third party resellers like best buy and maybe even to apple stores? There's a big diff between that and literal, individual out-the-door sales at retail. Due to apple prepping properly to meet demand, apple stores may still have had unsold inventory at the end of Saturday and ditto for BB. Those units may be "sold" according to apple's accounting but are hardly capable of logging on to the Internet.

That might be true - if the units were still sitting on BestBuy's shelves. But since BestBuy sold all of their units the first day in most stores and the second day in the rest, it's an insignificant nit to pick.

Given that number, it would mean that Apple has earned $125,293,628 in revenues from the iPad. (And thats assuming every iPad sold was of the $499 flavor)

If we assume 2/5 of the iPads sold were 32GB iPads, Apple has made almost $146,000,000

Wanna clarify "earnings", "revenues" and "made" for reader understanding? I see what you did but "in" revenues is incorrect, right? "on revenues of around $275,000,000" would be correct. Sounds like you Understand this stuff but keeping the terms straight in readers' minds is a constant struggle here. :)

Do these guys ever get tired of being wrong? LOL. Straight from Apple at the iPhone OS event: 450,000 total. 300,000 on Saturday. 150,000 additional sales from Sunday through today.

Actually just because we dont like the ipad or iphone doesnt mean that I dont like ALL apple products...

I just dont fall for everything that Jobs pulls out of his ass....nor am I delusional to think that apple or any tech company is perfect... so relax..

Ipad is a weak excuse(to ME) in its CURRENT FORM(sales or not)... I hate when people talk about what it can do later... what else do people buy in HOPES that it gets better in the future? only apple zealots... Sometime i hate being associated with the loud and proud few who talk just to talk and praise the ground Jobs walks on. Because they end up defining the many people with apple products.

Sad but true.. /rant

Wouldn't it be interesting to be able to see the source IP address/domain for each poster here on MacRumors? Although there are plenty of naive ones here who refuse to believe that anyone would anonymously post to a competitor's online forum just to bag on that competitor's products...
Sure Got Told gets hit by Apple and even has tolds specifically targeted to Apple's IPs. Though I think a redirect is still in place.

I think what kills it for too many, are the iPhone owners.

We're sitting here going, ok, so you basically made a copy of my phone with a huge screen and no camera and I can't use it to make calls and text...so...it's not even as good as an iPhone relatively speaking...it's just a big iPod correct?

Oh, but I can plug a keyboard into it now? Yea. That's enough to slam $500 at Apple.

A fair beef to have, but I think a lot of people like the iPad because it's like the iPod touch and iPhone except it's bigger, so your nearsightedness isn't getting progressively worse by the minute that you stare at your iPhone screen.

Where the eff is flash? (and for all of you going "Who cares?" I don't think you currently own an iDevice then...because yes. Flash matters...it kind of gets old being told "Oh sorry, you can't browse THIS page because...we use Flash. Sorry. Kkk. Bye now") So you see the iPad coming out and Steve Jobs is showing it off and you're all excited and he's on NYTimes and on the iPad, (the latest iDevice "update"), and right there on his presentation...you see it...that dreaded little "A flash embed is right here...but you can't see it because you DON'T have flash" and bam! That's the end for you. If I want an awesome web browser that can't process flash...yeeeea...I've got an iPhone...I'm fine, I'll pass thanks. I'll wait for the model that actually does something my phone DOESN'T ALREADY DO.

I've literally only been to a few websites that are exclusively Flash that I can't browse, and you know what I do? I copy and paste the URL into an e-mail, and send it to myself to look at later on my laptop. It isn't that big of a deal, and what websites are you trying to look at that use THAT much Flash?

So all of you thinking we're WAITING for upgrades, yea, we're waiting for upgrades on a device we already have better specs on"

We're seeing that our extensively well thought out app collection is NULL for the iPad and we have to repurchase many to get "full iPad versions" because the ones we have will play on it...in the same size we already see it...ON OUR iPhone.

Oh yea, and you KNOW all of us iPhone owners were on pins and needles. Oh boy, FINALLY a full screen to carry over our need for touch! Here we go. (Watching presentation and Steve's build up) Ohboyohboyohboyohboy. (Presented) ...um? :What?: So...an iDevice...that's my phone resized...

So wait...(watching more) and...so you mean...no camera though? So...LESS than my device...(shows net surfing...dreaded no flash)...and they didn't address the flash thing?....(noticing lack of multitasking) and I still can't listen to Pandora and play with my photo collection...that I have to import from my external full size computer no less....right right. Gotcha.

And you resolve to yourself...yyyyeaaa thinkin I'll pass from downgrading my iPhone to an iPod with a huge screen and paying $500 dollars for it thanks.

And then shall we address the iPhone evolution? Because there were several steps before it was the 3Gs it is now...and soon rumor has it, a 4g is set to launch...all within 3 years...that means LESS than a YEAR per EACH upgrade people. So iPad is out...but guess what, I already have a BETTER one...it's called the iPhone...look it up folks. Oh and yes, 3g? Stiiillllll ATT. So...

Gimme 2 years to sit on thanks.

I still don't understand the point that people are trying to make with having a camera on the iPad...I'd rather use my Canon DSLR or my Sony CyberShot to take pictures than holding a 9" tablet computer up in the air and tapping the "take" button on screen to take 3mp photos...but that's just me.

But, I don't have an iPad yet either, because I already have a laptop and an iPhone. My iPhone takes care of my web needs away from the house, and my laptop takes care of my needs at the house.

But I'm also not going online and whining incessantly because Apple didn't meet all of MY requirements for the iPad. I wanted to be able to tether my iPad to my iPhone for 3G, but I'm not going online whining and trolling about it at every turn.

I'm sure all companies do it, even Apple. But it's certainly being done here at MacRumors.

Oh, and I wonder how AidenShaw feels about the Sure Got Told website, since they use a common derogatory term for Mac users that ranks right up there in frequency with his tired "Starbucks poseurs" label.

Ad hominem attacks on mac users who happen to frequent a coffee shop?

NoH8 indeed.

I wonder how many more days till the chitika counter ticks over the 1 million mark. It's in the 700k range now.

Ooops on you. The market share numbers are not tracked by IP address alone. They can track unique visitors in spite of NAT, firewalls and moving from network to network.

Do your homework ;) .

But its still internet statistics based tracking. Its just another kind of cr@p. Even if you did an online survey people would still look funnily at you.

I've done my homework and more, this is discussed in head crushing detail in the compulsry paper of the foundation course.
