Personally, I'd be fine with WiFi only. If I really need the iPad connected I can just create a hotspot on my phone. However, I still think the option should be present for those who need it.

The Nexus 7 and Fire were both WiFi only to begin with so Wi-Fi only for the first generation does have some precedence at this form factor. I wonder if the added cost/certification process complicates things? It certainly increases the cost and I could see Apple wanting to have a dead simple Christmas purchase one device three memory sizes; they won’t be able to make them fast enough.

Why the big issue for a 3G-LTE version - just use personal hotspot via iphone or is this just allowed on UK plans??

Assuming there is room, why not follow the model of the larger iPad and charge a premium for 3G?

I would have zero interest in a non-3G 7" model. I know others would, but this is just my opinion.

If there is room in the new iphone, there is room in a larger device. Other than that agree 100% id see this as a replacement of my ipad so id want 3g/4g & gps

Hopefully they're wrong.
Wifi only? I'm not buying one. New iPad is too big for me.

I guess I would go looking elsewhere.

When I bought the iPad in the uk, the apple store said it was compatible with uk 4g...or would be when 4g would be available in the uk.

A few days later, that all changed on the apple website.

I complained to apple, but they refused to refund the money.

Utter rip off.

Apple said:
If you change your mind, you can return your Standard or Configured-to-Order hardware to us within 14 calendar days of delivery.

Apple, kill yourself.

I was going to buy the Nexus 7, but I need 3G.
I was waiting for the new iPad mini, because I prefer it (a lot). No 3G.

Damn!

No 3G, No iPad.

Sceptical about this claim. Revised edition a mere 3-4 months before the next iPad? Very suspect.

iPad mini yes.

Revised 3rd gen iPad, I can only see being released when it becomes the 16gb basic version when iPad 4 releases.

I can't see the point in upgrading the uk model only, especially when the ipad 4 is o ly a few months away.

Smaller iPad = good for those who travel = they like mobile 3G while they travel
: p

I liked how everyone sees a rumor on a rumor site and accepts it immediately as fact. Do you honestly think these people have any idea what Apple is doing? No. They are simply throwing out rumors, they could be right, but they could be wrong. Just like any 50/50 guess.

>>Wi-Fi only makes sense. $149.00

Now, why would it be $150 CHEAPER than the goddarn iPod Touch?

As a user of AT&T's new Mobile Data Share, I can't complain. Mobile hot spot is included in my plan and since I always have my iPhone around anyway, that covers all my internet needs for my current wifi only iPad.

Though it does suck for those that do not have mobile hot spot.

With Nexus heavily rumored to have a 3G equipped Nexus 7 in production, it would be pretty short sighted to not have a 3G enabled device to compete.

Depends whether it was bought online or in a store, that policy is just to comply with distance selling regulation.

Same in the retail stores.

At least it was when I bought my iPad on 14 June 2010. The receipt says "Return Date: Jun.28, 2010".
