I thought that the Maps app was altered in Apple's video online, but it just looks phenomenal when you pinch and zoom... just awesome. AH!! New iPhone HD (name??) or this!?!?!?

With regards to the Maps app, won't you be way more likely to use Maps on an iPhone when moving about town? I think the iPad Maps app looks great but I don't see it as a reason to get the iPad. There is very little real-world usage other than to show it off to friends. Of course, I'm assuming that you won't be carrying an iPad around town and using WiFi spots everywhere you go.

Great fast-talking video overview. I hope he gets over that Peruvian parasite soon!

one thing that just irked me, was that i just paid $599 for my ipad, and it will not include a pair of earbuds? every ipod that i have ever purchased had earbuds...I have grown accustomed to it

ohwell

I will still deeply enjoy my ipad
i am looking forward to reading magazines on it, and playing the new games

Pocket devices have earbuds. Laptops don’t. This is morel like the latter, so it would be kind of a wasteful extra. (And if you do want them, you can get something less pocketable but better-sounding than earbuds.)

I'm not getting one. I have an iPhone and I can't see the iPad being very different other than the size. As a content creation device it looks very limiting compared to my MBP. And as a portable content player (iTunes, movies, maps) the portability part just isn't there and doesn't expand on what the iPhone is capable of already.

If I was in the market for a new laptop... then maybe. Even then, content creation is limited! I'm puzzled why this is such a buzz as a product. The only thing I'd be somewhat interested in would be as an ebook reader but e-ink looks so much better as a display option for this task. Hopefully Amazon will cut the Kindle price after the iPad release and I can get one of those instead.

For what it is, the iPad is pretty. Just doesn't fit my wants or needs AT ALL. Also, I find it suspicious that NYTimes, Washington Post, etc. are all giving rave reviews and are rumored to also be selling apps to their content through the very device they're reviewing. Sounds like a conflict of interest to me.

What does this mean? Who is getting fired ahaha? I don't understand what you are saying. You think this is a poor review and the reviewer is getting fired or do you think this is a review of a poor product and someone at Apple is getting fired. Truly I do not understand what you mean. Am I alone here?

Hahah, no. I honestly didn't know who this guy is. But when they said that they're "close" to Apple, I automatically thought he had worked or had a serious relationship with Apple. So long story short, my mistake, first two sentences, please ignore! Just stay more focused on the ending where I think Apple is gonna have a heart attack the unboxing. (Because you know how Apple is, sensitive like a baby!)

Or, Or, Or, the things does rock, and it was worth them making an App, because they could see the potential in the thing?

You know, you may never see the point. Just you wait, the iPad will be huge success and maybe you will never see the point of it. I saw the point of it when I saw Jobs on stage. I bought another thousand shares of APPL immediately after that presentation. At $192 now at $234. Did you see the point of that? I did.

Wait wait wait.
You spent $192,000 on a whim that the iPad announcement was going to be thAt successful? I can understand a pre-order before you read reviews, but spending almost $200,000?!
Fanboy would be the biggest understatement to call you, "religious worshipped nutjob" would be more accurate, assuming you reside at the church of apple of course.

Oh yeah, most definitely. But its just stunning how quickly it zooms and how crisp everything looks. Oh and I didn't mean like which one is better to use it on, I'll only be able to afford probably one new apple device this summer and I had my heart set to jump ship to AT&T for the next iPhone. Now the iPad is making it hard to commit because I feel one will be one more than the other.

Either spend big or go home. You can't make "easy" money any other way.

All the unboxings videos are horrible and took 1 second so i wouldn't call it really unboxing lol..

Forecasting and future-looking sales aren't affected by whether it actually succeeds. I bought more AAPL myself because the potential is astronomical and hype and anticipation drives stock prices up. Results can drive them down.

Buy the rumors, sell the news.

I am SOOO tired of the 'no flash' being used as a con. Have any of these 'techies' ever looked to see how much CPU flash uses on their desktop and notebook computers? Here's a hint, it's A LOT!!!!

How about you complain that sites actually still use that crappy technology. Christ, do you also complain that computer are missing Real player support or PS/2 ports?

Or "astute investor". You don't even have to like Apple products to think that their stock price will go up.

Is there a tone of bitterness here? IF I had 200K and could afford to invest it I would have. Facts are that I don't and you probably don't, so because this guy could, doesn't make him a nutjob. sounds like a pretty smart move to me on his part.

I think the more accurate story is that there really is no story at all. Someone with the name "CupertinoBob" is posting on a Mac message board, and just happens to have a couple hundred thousand dollars burning a whole in his pocket, and buys stock on a whim?

Sounds like someone's alter/internet-ego.

I'm pissed it doesn't have a floppy drive. I'm holding out for version 2....

Seriously though any chance you can get an adapter for my cassette tape drive from my TI-99?

Wow, looks amazing! I really want to get one on Saturday. I was going to wait for the 3G for the GPS.

Does anyone know if you will have to be subscribed to the 3G data plan in order to use the GPS features?
