I'm pissed it doesn't have a floppy drive. I'm holding out for version 2....

Seriously though any chance you can get an adapter for my cassette tape drive from my TI-99?

I expected iPad to be great and sexy, and this review made me all the more certain about it. But to me, iPad with no Flash support means a beautiful girl with lazy eyes.

Wait wait wait.
You spent $192,000 on a whim that the iPad announcement was going to be thAt successful? I can understand a pre-order before you read reviews, but spending almost $200,000?!
Fanboy would be the biggest understatement to call you, "religious worshipped nutjob" would be more accurate, assuming you reside at the church of apple of course.

Yeah, well this nutjob just made over 40k with that "whim."

Pages on the iPad can convert Word documents? That's freaking nice!

Oh, and +1 for the wooooooooooosh improvised sound effects for the unboxing vid.

The best thing about the PCMag review was that the user apparently was left-handed. I'm curious how well the interface flows for lefties.

That guy cannot form a proper sentence to save his life. What makes you think he has 200k sitting around? He's full of it. Real investors don't walk around spewing the kind of crap he does. He's making it up for attention.

I'm not getting one. I have an iPhone and I can't see the iPad being very different other than the size. As a content creation device it looks very limiting compared to my MBP. And as a portable content player (iTunes, movies, maps) the portability part just isn't there and doesn't expand on what the iPhone is capable of already.

If I was in the market for a new laptop... then maybe. Even then, content creation is limited! I'm puzzled why this is such a buzz as a product. The only thing I'd be somewhat interested in would be as an ebook reader but e-ink looks so much better as a display option for this task. Hopefully Amazon will cut the Kindle price after the iPad release and I can get one of those instead.

For what it is, the iPad is pretty. Just doesn't fit my wants or needs AT ALL. Also, I find it suspicious that NYTimes, Washington Post, etc. are all giving rave reviews and are rumored to also be selling apps to their content through the very device they're reviewing. Sounds like a conflict of interest to me.

I find this post really strange for 2 reasons:

1. Apple, from the get-go, has stated that this is NOT a smartphone competitor OR a laptop competitor. It is a new product category. So saying you don't want it because it's not as powerful as your laptop and not as portable as your iphone seems strange, as I could just reverse that and say that it is MORE powerful than your iphone and MORE portable than your laptop. Do you want one now?

2. Every review I've read today seems to give the iPad rave reviews. Are they only conflicts of interest if you are in the process of developing an app for it? In this case, should you be expected to give it a bad review, or not review it at all?

one thing that just irked me, was that i just paid $599 for my ipad, and it will not include a pair of earbuds? every ipod that i have ever purchased had earbuds...I have grown accustomed to it

First, this isn't an ipod...

Second, did any of your iPods have a built-in speaker?

Finally, did any of your iPods allow you to send its music out to any stereo in your home?

Does anyone see that dead pixel on the PCMag screen or is it just me seeing things? I swear they haunt me!

BOOOO!!!

Based on the article's title I thought I was going to get a hands-on review of the iPad by national treasure Stephen Fry. Instead I ended up listening to some American.

Mind you, the PC Mag hands-on review was pretty decent with bang-bang-bang points and almost no waffle, which makes a nice change.

I am SOOO tired of the 'no flash' being used as a con. Have any of these 'techies' ever looked to see how much CPU flash uses on their desktop and notebook computers? Here's a hint, it's A LOT!!!!
So, your point is? You have 96% idle processing time, sure you can dedicate 20whatever% to flash, can't you?
I found the fast paced PCMag review the most helpful and insightful out of all the reviews tonight. Can't wait!
Tes, too bad he played UP. That's makes the whole thing paid journalism. Why should an "independent" review play the same stock video Apple does?

Apple shipments don't come in white bags like that... you only get those when you buy in-Store.

It is also the biggest damn shame that the iPad doesn't have a cover, upon which is printed in large, friendly letters the words, DON'T PANIC.

Unbagging, not unboxing. I beg you, please, stop!

Although, it doesn't even qualify as such, this must be the worst unboxing video EVER!

Well done, Fry! We wouldn't expect anything exciting from you. What an absolute bore! Put some pics on your TwitPic page, so other bores can see your iPad pics too.

Besides, shouldn't you be off Twitter? I thought you got sick of people complaining about your pretentious ways clashing with humanity.
