iPad Wi-Fi + 3G Customers in the U.S. Anxiously Await Shipping Confirmation

It uses a mini-sim, I don't know if you will be able to get a mini-sim from those carrier's...

They cant deliver it without having someone Physically Sign for it.. (Read: they wont Leave it on the Doorstep)

I pre signed for my case and they left it at the door. That was one of my options.

The iPad is unlocked, so it won't require any jailbreaking to use a non-AT&T SIM. There's two things that you'll need to consider, though.
  1. The iPad doesn't use a traditional SIM like the iPhone or other GSM devices; it uses a micro-SIM which has a smaller form factor (although, in theory, you could modify an existing SIM with an exacto-knife and make it work). That said, if you got a micro SIM from another carrier, like Rogers (CA) or Vodafone (UK), you could pop-it-in and go.
  2. While, in theory, you could get a micro SIM from T-Mobile (assuming they'll give you one), this is probably not your best solution. T-Mobile's 3G network uses a non-standard frequency, which is incompatible with the iPad's 3G radio. Although you will be able to use T-Mobile's network, you'd be browsing on their 2G EDGE network, which is considerably slower than a 3G network (think iPhone 2G speeds).

I find it kinda funny that you guys in the states have had the iPad for a while now and are about to get the 3G. You know of course that the only ones over here in the UK are imports and its kinda like the whole buzz has died down before the thing even releases here.

Apple made a huge booboo in my opinion by not having production sorted for a worldwide release, the hype has all but died now and I think sales over here will be lower than they could have been due to the massive delay in release.

I have touched one LOL, though I was impressed I won't be purchasing (if they ever release the damn thing through official chanels). I was toying with the idea of one to use for sofa surfing but found it awkward to hold while lounging on the couch for prolonged periods, with a laptop it just sits on the arm of the chair and you just surf with one hand.

I am not dissing it in anyway, just don't think it suits what I want it for. If I commuted on a train etc for work then I would have one in a second.

Nah. This way each time they release in a new country they get a fresh new round of press.
 
Should I be worried

I ordered a 64 gb iPad 3G and have not been charged on my card and the shipping status stills "not yet shipping".

Am I alone on this?:confused:
 
Ya I doubt you will receive it on friday. I believe that mostly everyone that will be receiving theres friday have prepared for shipment. When did you order your iPad?

Apple still making them?

Mine still hasn't been shipped yet ether. It was ordered on March 23. Apple website says "Ships: Late April" and "Prepared for Shipment" for my order but there is still no movement on it.
 
iPad Shipment Notice

I received shipment notice from Apple this morning. My iPad 3G 64 gig is due to be delivered by 3:00 PM tomorrow.:D

Mine is still listed as "Ships Late April" and "Not Yet Shipped". If it doesn't ship today, I will just go buy one tomorrow from the store and cancel the online order.

I ordered it on 4/15. I called apple and they said that it will for sure be here but I don't see it happening. If I don't have it by 3 Im gonna cancel the order and go get in line.

I'm a grown man that cannot wait another day for his toy. :(

I ordered mine on Apr 14th, and it also still indicates "ships late Apr". however...my case as of yesterday indicated "ships May 4th, arrives May 7th", and today indicates "Shipped on: Apr 29, 2010 via FEDERAL EXPRESS " so still holding out hope. Also now see the IPad indicates "prepared for shipment". Maybe it said that before but didn't notice it.
