iPad2 at MacMall

I just spoke via Webchat with a rep named Chris.

According to Chris, they are expecting a shipment of AT&T 64GB BLK iPad2's for April 29th.

I asked what was the wait, such as if one were to order within the next few days, would one be able to procure one from that batch.

Accordingly, he claims they have a wait list for that model of upwards of 1000 orders, but their shipment will serve those and then some.

I personally think, he just wants my money. If I order, I bet they take it upfront, and once they have you hooked, you are stuck.

Does anyone know if they are a large-scale reseller? I'm doubtful they are actually getting 1000 of that specific, highly coveted model.

I figure order keep mah Apple order, and if by April 29, Apple hasn't shipped/they(macmall) have the BLK AT&T 64 in stock, cancel Apple and go with them.

I was put back by how amateur-ish their site looks.

Any comments/help/suggestions as to how/where I can get that model sooner are more than welcome.



BTW, they currently have BLK Verizon, but I just pawned off my white Verizon 64 on eBay a few days ago, luckily after fees I broke even, Verizon coverage is crappy where I live plus I'm not partial to CDMA. Also no white suggestions, as my white had to be swapped for paint issues. So only AT*T/BLK 64GB is wanted.

Not sure how many of us "Day 1" buyers are still waiting, but as an update: I just got an email notifying me that my 64GB WiFi (black) has shipped. Based on what was said when I called a few days ago, the rest of the early orders should be shipping out with this batch. Hope it's good news for the rest of you guys.
 
I ordered from Mac Mall last week and have not received any confirmation at all. Not even an email from them at all yet that I even called and ordered.

Hmm...I got a confirm email the day after I ordered. Chat with them about it...they're 24/7. Your order should be shipped April 26th AFAIK.

Ya I have been meaning to do tha but I just haven't had the time. I believe they did say that April 26 ship though, I ordered on Saturday last week.

I spent thirty minutes on the chat figuring everything out for me. I also learned they charged me shipping, which they never told me about. It was $20 but got refunded. I thought it was free as well. Anyway I don't have a ship date until April 30 they said.
 
Boo.. I ordered my 32 gig black wi-fi from them on 4/11 and it's still backordered. :/

I posted at https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1113359/ in post 148 about their sketchy shipping story. Let's see if I get hit w/it even though my order shows it's free after I got them to back down on charging shipping...
 
The weird thing is they charged me shipping at first, then I asked for a refund on it which they did. So I went to check my friends order because she helped me out to get more, they didn't charge her shipping at all.
 
For anyone following the thread, my 64 GB WiFis finally did ship.

We had ordered them on release day, March 11th, within a few hours of them going on sale. MacMall originally told us they would ship in 3 days. Then we were told March 30th. Got married on April 10th, and was hoping to have the iPads for the honeymoon - this did not happen. When my fiance last called MacMall, the customer service rep was downright condescending and insulting. At least the iPads were waiting for us after the honeymoon was over on the 22nd (shipped on the 19th).

Free shipping and no sales tax is nice, but MacMall has been absolutely horrendous in setting expectations.
 
Not sure why everyone interested in calling MacMall and waiting for weeks.

Why don't just put your name on the on call list of several local stores (BestBuy, RadioShack, Target) or use the iPad2 locator site, http://www.ipad2locator.com/

I scored the one I want though I have to drive about two hours round trip to another town. Considering it's sightseeing trip.

Just sharing.
 
Ordered March 31 - still waiting

32 GB WiFi in black
They now say it may ship this week, but no guarantee.
The thing that annoys me is that their advertising now says "Ships in 1-2 weeks" but that's probably only true for a few of the models.
Also, I received a form letter in the mail today informing me that they were having trouble filling my order in a timely fashion...

I guess just one person has. I remember MacMall used to be way good, I used to receive their catalog and buy stuff all the time from them. Since they stopped their catalog I haven't even though of them until my iPad 2 order.

Wow, now I feel bad of started this thread. I lucked out to get one from BestBuy on Launch day. Barely got in line around 4:45pm.

Hope you guys who have ordered will get yours soon.
 
I got an email that my iPad 2 shipped today. I kinda forgot and the scalping thing is over. I could still try I guess since it was shipped without tax.
