This is good but I want the OG slide over … as it is described now, it seems rather cumbersome.
To the contrary, overlapping windows is the only thing that makes sense. Some of us do real work on iPads because of their portability and cellular connectivity.Overlapping windows makes zero sense on the iPad.
Let iPad be iPad and let Mac be Mac. This is so stupid.
People who want iPad to be a Mac are insufferable. Just buy a Mac.

No thanks. iPadOS is optimized for this form factor. No need for macOS; tablets are different than laptops, and we all remember Windows 8We need to be running macOS on the iPads not this neutered upscale from the iPhone.
So then turn it off. I dont understand your complaint its off by default or rather you get to choose. If you don't want overlapping windows youll never have to see them. But for people who want to do real work on it its a great option that makes the ipad much more useful. Some of us just want iPads to be iPads.
Perhaps they need to have the option to choose which OS goes on them?
Overlapping windows make zero sense on iPad Minis, for instance.
Yep.. Way too much listening to the podcasting/blogging types who bent themselves into a pretzel to try to do Mac things on iPads.
Just buy a Mac.
Makes zero sense for /you/.Overlapping windows makes zero sense on the iPad.

What's insufferable about wanting a touch oriented device that has the functionality of a laptop? Sounds to me like you're projecting.Overlapping windows makes zero sense on the iPad.

I understand the complaint about slide over getting killed off but the split screen gestures on windowing mode plus the green button make it painless. What does splitscreen have that the windowing button/ swipe gestures is lacking.I literally filed a feedback a couple days ago and asked for the same thing!
Exactly. I mean Apple could easily put a switch in Settings that switches between different types of multitasking. I never understood why they took away Split Screen and Slide Over. The gestures were really easy and natural, and I used them all the time.
Just like people who bought a Mac to be an Apple II back in the late 1980s. The Mac was just a toy, where as DOS and Apple II were the real computers.Overlapping windows makes zero sense on the iPad.

You can easily have an iPadOS skin to keep the panicky happy. No point having novice users restrict more experienced users for sure. BTW, Windows 8 is irrelevant. No thanks. iPadOS is optimized for this form factor. No need for macOS; tablets are different than laptops, and we all remember Windows 8
The great thing about the update is you choose th multitasking you like. So everyone wins.Overlapping windows makes zero sense on the iPad.

Turn it off and lose all multitasking isn't a solution. The three options should be split screen, windowed, and stage manager for multitasking. The great thing about the update is you choose th multitasking you like. So everyone wins.
Don’t like it. Turn it off.
Except they literally do offer this option? On first boot as well, or the first time you update to 26.Some of us just want iPads to be iPads.

It takes more taps to invoke, and you can’t switch between slideover apps.
