How? Can you share a screenshot?

Just installed it on my Mini... what the hell is this?
This is the screenshot interface. First, there's no Apple Intelligence but I did expect it to be a hoax anyway.
But what's that slider on the top left? All it does is make the whole image white. What is it meant to do?
Also, the "full page" button doesn't even fit on the screen. Did they even test this on the iPad Mini?
Oh and you can no longer swipe from the bottom left corner to take a screenshot, because that's now a multi tasking gesture... Lame.

I have no clue why that slider is there… but I have it too on iPadOS 15, first time I see it:

I wish that’s the case (or that all this gets improved stat) cause this video makes my eyes bleed

First ios update im not jumping on, in 13-14 years?
To me this sums up iPadOS26's problems perfectly. Multi-tasking has gotten so much more convoluted and requires so many more steps. I use slideover, which as you can see in the last clip of the video is the worst affected moving from two steps to seven to achieve the same result.

I get that there is an advantage to be able to scale and place windows anywhere for some users, but how useful is this on anything other than a 12.9" screen (I have an 11) and I think even less so if you use your iPad as a (shock, horror) tablet and not a desktop replacement with keyboard and trackpad.

Wow, this is absolutely hideous. I can’t believe Apple thought that this was a good idea at all.

iPadOS 26 off to a bumpy start so far in limited testing

My immediate experience was awful but sorta leveled out later today

I still don’t understand the mail app. I now have to multitask between emails? How do I swipe back?

I don’t like how narrow the body of emails is if I’m not in landscape and I’m confused

On phone iOS 26 has been smoother as my immediate impression and swipe back in mail app is no issue or no more confusing than the previous version

This is like Mission Control crap baked into mail app who thinks of this stuff lol

If you switch to Full Screen Apps instead of either of the windowed app options, you get the screenshot swipe back (and the Quick Notes swipe too).

you can also take a photo with your phone as it will be faster than switching the setting, but that's not the point of the post though, is it? we can also stay in 18.7 and have our gestures and all. we can also just not take screenshots at all.

they should have found an elegant way to preserve all this ipados18 functionality, as it would mess with none of the new functions. How would swiping from the edge affect users if it triggered a pin window? The more people say this is the best thing ever to multitasking, the more confused I get as the video shows how difficult it all is to set up. They didn't use two or three windows, but now they use four, but why? Was free form resizing the only thing missing? Stage manager was also fine on external monitors. The funny thing to me is that it's still just a windowing system and it doesn't make sense that the YouTubers are all this excited as the iPad can still run none of the desktop apps it should.

This is my issue with OS26. It introduces new features, GREAT. However it removes certain old ones and don't maintain a "legacy" option for all features. As a result, the update becomes two steps backwards but 3 steps forwards - leaving you mixed feeling about whether it's a down or upgrade.

It feels like OS26 is Apple's Windows 8. I pray that I don't get pandered with update prompts and accidentally fat finger a button will upgrade my devices. OS26 has protential but it needs alot of work.

Is there a way to get rid of that little grab handle that stays on the screen in the bottom right? The home bar is finally gone but now that seems to stay there permanently.

respectfully, this looks horrible compared to slide over.
Yeah, I appreciate the demo of options, but it’s not that I can’t have a small app/window over top another app/window. It’s that I can’t just slide an app/window from off to the side, use it, and then slide it back away without even thinking about it.

Instead, I need like 5 more steps/taps and have to do a bunch of extra window management. That gets me away from just enjoying my experience to having to do unnecessary tedious work just to get things to my preference.

Excuse me, how the heck we don’t have tiling to the side with mouse/touch with each application?

This makes no sense, now they even managed to remove Slide Over??????

I really like the multi window mode. I've got the iPad Air M2 so not a top of the range/new iPad and I can't believe how well it works. I'm not installing iOS26 on my phone until the public release, so I've been resizing the main apps like mail, photos and music, and it basically shows you how it'll look on mobile.

On the basic ipad 10th generation it doesn't work at all. When you open an app it starts full screen and even if you resize a window and open another app, it goes full screen and the first window gets closed.

Same in stage manager. I went back to the everything opens in full screen again, as I don't need window resize if that is only working with one app at a time.

That's how Windowed mode works. Apps that open full screen will open in their own "space". If you resize an app and then open another app, if that second app is full screen, it will move to a new space giving the impression that the first window is closed. App Expose will show both apps. Only resized apps stay in the same space.

Similar to above in that if you open a new app, it will open in it's own Stage. If you want to keep it in the same stage, you have to drag the app to the current stage. It doesn't matter if both apps are full screen, they will be in the same stage.

It has MANY MANY bugs.. I can’t open X in Safari, in fact it won’t even search for it in the google search bar, and if I select to open in a new tab it just sits there constantly reloading and failing too.. and I can’t post comments on a news website, it opens a Feed box instead every time I click to post?… I knew it would be stuffed fill of bugs as they concentrated so much on new fancy features instead of it actually working properly.

Those sound more like an issue with your machine or network to be honest. Are you running a VPN?

No and no it is not my iPad or network. I closed and re-opened Safari and X opened, but the other issue still remains and it worked PERFECTLY fine on iPad OS 18.

I have been playing around with iPadOS 26 on my base iPad 10. It's been kind of disappointing. A bit of a mess to use with my fat finger. Maybe floating windows and desktop multi-tasking just doesn't belong on a touch first device.

I'll give it more time to see if I get used to it.....but, at this point, I really don't see iPadOS 26 replacing MacOS Tahoe on my MBA. Not a big deal. For the most part, I only use iPad on vacation or as a secondary screen.

BTW - Tahoe has been very smooth and a pleasure to use.....so far.....no problems for me.

You’re meant to use the windowed mode with a mouse or the Magic Keyboard, not your fingers. That being said, it makes zero sense to also take away the previous multitasking scheme that worked very well with the touchscreen. I hope they will reconsider and put it back.
