Just updated

I do see a slight increase in scrolling speed when viewing my emails, but not sure if that was due to a bug fix or some maintenance done by the installer. I really dig the new battery indicator icon next to the iPhone in the list pane in iTunes. I finally don't have to hit the top button on the iPhone to check battery recharge progress. Nice.

So does this mean I can put any sound I want on the phone and use it as a ringtone (or alarm?) with Apple's full blessing now? Nor more hacks needed?

That would definitely be a step in the right direction in my estimation of Apple...

After updating with this official iTunes pushed version on my iPhone, my Apple Bluetooth headset no longer shows up on my iPhone when charging using the dual dock. Even after restarting/ redocking both. Anyone else having this issue?

Strangely, my custom ringtones no longer work either. They show up but won't play no matter how I put them on (either through iToner or through dragging/ double clicking the .m4r files into iTunes.

:mad:This is a sorry firmware update... doesn't add much

Ringtones. Maybe not the coolest thing in the world, but well needed. (Assuming this wasn't a mistake that will be wiped out w/ the next update). The $1.99 ringtones are fine, but just like you can add your own video to the iPod, you should be able to make your own ringtones for the iPhone.

Are things really more snappier or is this just a mental side effect
from knowing one has a new firmware in the phone?

iPod's have been able to play ABR encoding since the start. Only thing that the new iTunes does is show the real bitrate now, not the target bitrate.

Wasn't sure about the playback part. Thanks.

It's more than just a display thing in iTunes, though. If iTunes always has been encoded them ABR, then all of my other AAC's would show various bit rates, not fixed as they still do.

Apple stop being so proprietary. They are gunna lose this battle to google fairly quickly

if they "lose" to google, it won't be because of being proprietary. You'd be amazed how few people in the "real world" care about customize this and third party that. People want something that "just works," and that's the iphone for you.

Too funny. No Lartymarf, it is a VERY OLD macrumors joke. Every time there is any kind of update or upgrade, someone always says it. Way overused by people, including me.

C'mon Apple... Throw us a bone with some meat on it. I just read on Macnn that someone from Apple is guaranteeing some " wonderful cool new applications for the iPhone, down the road". Will you guys pleeaase add some common smartphone apps like save photo to phone, MMS, copy and paste, etc
I know you want to milk these upgrades until Feb, but a TIFF exploit bug fix and international language support aint gonna cut it. Oh, I forgot, we get the neat little battery indicator in Itunes. :p

So does iToner work with 1.1.2? Thanks in advance Brave Soul

Reports say it does, but even if it doesn't, 1.1.2 allows iTunes to now support custom ringtones so you no longer need iToner.

Still, I have no regrets or remorse about buying the application. It served me well for the months Apple denied me the ability.

Agreed iToner is one of the best apps I have ever purchased. Cheap but it gets the job done and do are about doing updates without hacks

im curious what build number the people getting it directly from itunes is getting? The one I installed from the direct download is build number 3B48b which I was told by a Apple employee Friday was going to be different then the one released today and not desired over the itunes one.

Just want to verify they are indeed different
