5.8” Pro - no issues here even when setting up the phone when I got it on release day.

Have tried out the fast charger but also more often just use the 5W charger I have, neither cause any heat.

For those with a hot running pro/pro max: are you using a third party keyboard? I had one that would hang randomly when not in use and caused the phone to get hot. Battery life took a big hit too. I uninstalled it (sadly) and things are much better now.

Did you try already DFU restore? The two times I had similar issue on different iPhone in the past was solved with DFU reset. Please note after DFU reset you can't load a previous iPhone backup, or the problem will restart. You have to configure as new iPhone, entering your AppleID and downloading one by one all your apps..

So basically an erase and restore would have done it too as in the mentioned case the issue was with user data and not iOS.

This seems in line with the experiences I read about. But seems hard to believe that only the iphone pro is affected by this. I guess the problem must be present in all three iphone models. Its just triggered for some people. I have now at this point read about all three models behaving the same way from one source or the other.
Thanks for sharing your experiences. Please keep them coming. We can then get a broader idea of the extent of the issue.

Please share these sources here too.

Got the 11 pro SG at released date and got super hot at the first setting but then was getting warm whenever I was taking pictures or editing pics. Then swapped with a Silver 11 pro and this one got hot for the first setting and then not anymore.

11 pro. Set up as new. Crazy battery drain ( see attached )! I can't get through a full day with very minimal use. It drains 30-40% over night. I have not noticed it running hot but it has been in a case since day 1.

Looks like photos is updating, big restore from iCloud?

Maybe stop iCloud from uploading or set up as new. It should sort itself after a day or two if not take it into Apple and let them sort it.

My iPhone se is getting very hot and battery dying very quickly since I updated to iOS 13. Even with 13.1.2 it's still the same. Apparently not just an iPhone 11 issue. Apple had better get the finger out and sort this as my phone is practically useless now.

Nope. That photos background activity was 2 minutes. I took it into Apple and they could not figure it out either so they replaced it.

Is it possible to downgrade from 13.1.2? Or completely factory reset the phone so it is back on 13.0

11 Pro does run hot sometimes for no apparent reason but haven’t noticed any battery issues. Guess I should call Apple. I restored from backup.

Update. I think I’ve sussed this out. I noticed that for example my percentage showed 1 pc. I turned off the phone and restarted it. The percentage was now showing 44pc but the phone died at 42. So after recharging I switched off my battery percentage and the phone was no longer getting hot and the battery level was sustained even after watching videos etc. I turned percentage back on and all is still ok. So far so good. Happy me!

Question: how to switch off battery precentage on iOS 13? Cannot see toggle button anymore :/
