Is my battery normal? After reading this I’m paranoid ... thanks in advance. Doesn’t run hot though. Gonna play some games later to test
I also notice browsing through Apple Music drains more than others but that’s expected since I was listening to previews

I also heard some xs and x gets hot after 13.1.2 update. Most likely software. If you are below that 15 days either return or exchange it I recommend. Even if apple exchange it through warranty they only replace the device not your accessories

Notice mine does get warm
Especially when using the camera
Just restored from backup for 2 days
Maybe still indexing in the background?

My 11 Pro Max overheats like crazy when streaming 4k HDR videos (around 50-100Mbps) through Wi-Fi. The phone would be too hot to hold after just 5 minutes and the screen will dim itself (which completely defeats the purpose of having a 1200+ nits "XDR" display). Neither my Xs nor my X had this problem.

iPhone 11 pro max here.
Had it for 3 days today. First day when I had just inboxed it and was setting up the back got very hot and I was already concerned that I shouldn’t have got it.. then this morning laying in bed in a cool room with a fan running directly into me! browsing only Facebook, no videos, low brightness the right hand side heated up considerably to a point I couldn’t hold it anymore. My battery was also fully charged half an hour ago and is already at 92%
Yesterday was my first full use day (using maps and camera throughout the day) but also considerable time it was down and doing nothing and it was down to 40% by the time I went to bed (my previous phone was a 7 plus and would average 20% by bedtime) so I’m thinking a dodgy battery?
I got the phone on a plan, am I eligible to take it into an Apple store for replacement?

I definitely would take it in that’s more than enough reason to take it in to them.

It's normal condition.

It's normal condition.
Do what I do when running screen at bright with High computational chip action at same time as plugging in. Set phone on ice pack, bag of frozen peas, etc. The heat generated is draw away and I continue to get maximum performance. Best if you remove phone from case. Other things I have tried is small fan blowing across phone. In car mount phone carrier so air conditioning vent blows on phone.

Laugh, but it works. You do things to generate heat, gotta carry it away. Until phones get liquid cooling and large heat transfer fins, which no one will like simple solutions work.

My 11 used to get pretty warm simply streaming Apple Music with the screen off whilst running base iOS 13. Doesn’t anymore aside from the expected heat when charging up.

I just returned my iPhone 11. I went to the store and hold both iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 pro from all different charging stations. All iPhone 11 were warm but most of the iPhone 11 pro were fine.

So I first really noticed my normal iPhone 11 running warm or a little hot with 13.2 to be honest, maybe a few days earlier with 13.1.3 but I think it was 13.2. When BT is on and connected to a device like my Garmin which was set up with Garmin Connect app it got really really warm. And of course battery drained faster while it was connected. After setup of the watch I restarted the device and it was ok but I also notice my iPhone 11 getting warm during heavier tasks or browsing with low data connection etc.

Charging is no problem here, but I don't do wireless charging though.

That wasn't case in the first month. I think it must be 13.2. Even though battery life is still good, but to me 13.2 is still quite buggy. Apps hardly download or update, I have to pause download/update and then start again ... Buggy 13.2 ...

I had EXACTLY the same situation with my 11 pro three days in. Give it maybe another two days and observe, maybe reboot a couple of times.
My problem just disappeared.

Just upgraded from an 8+ to an 11 yesterday. I bought two, one for myself and one for my daughter. The only time either ran hot was during the initial set up. I’m not sure if that’s normal or not. Of course I haven’t used it much yet.

New one yesterday, not had any heat issues but I am yet to see the stellar battery life everyone goes on about. Halfway through my day and I am on 66%, about the same as my 7+. But, the 11 may still be syncing in the background with iCloud.

Strong contrasts of hot and cold can potentially cause condensation to build up moisture, maybe even inside the device. This might not be an immediate issue but be careful.

Outside of the expected slight increase in heat during the first day or so, while it re-indexes, I’ve yet to experience any unusual increase in heat on my Pro Max. Even when running more intensive tasks it’s remaining surprisingly cool 99% of the time. The other 1% is an increase in temperature I would expect from any device running very intensive tasks.

My husband and I both started to set up our 11's yesterday. Mine was overheating to the point of being almost too hot to touch while my husband's did not. I stopped the set up during while it was doing the latest iOS update and am trying to figure out what to do. I'm wondering if the color makes any difference? My husband's is black and mine is white. My husbands took over a week apparently due to popularity. Sadly I waited for my husband's to come in before activating it so my warranty time has been eaten up. In the past, issues with overheating I've encountered were never satisfactorily resolved so I'm especially nervous seeing all the issues on the threads. Also, I was trying to reinstall the back up through the air phone-to-phone, while my husband was reinstalling from the cloud. Could that be causing an issue?

New white 11 (non Pro) side by side copy from X model. Runs cool, no case so I’d know and case was icky.

Can anyone recommend top notch system tool to monitor cpu battery stats and health? Or does iOS have that? I’d like see actual 30•C vs 42C (highest I ever saw) Tx

Different backups and restore methods may have something to do with it.
I don’t expect colour to matter at all. Also, when iPhones get too hot they usually warn the user. Has this occurred? When overheating is close don’t iPhones shut down anyway? If this is the case we can talk about overheating. Anything prior should be called “out of the user’s comfort zone “.

My Pro Max that was set up from an iPhone 7 backup does get a bit warm but it’s not that bad. My Galaxy S7 used to run far hotter.
