As usual another news article designed to piss off the Apple faithful who bought the iPhone 12. These tests are stupid because they can't produce real life results based on a person's usage or the types of apps they use. The app people may use the most may require very little resources so therefore there may not be any difference in battery life. And for anyone thinking I bought the iPhone 12 and I'm trying to disregard this article, NO. I have an iPhone 11 that I am perfectly satisfied with. I just know that battery tests from an older model to a newer model can't give real world results unless we are ALL using the same apps and use our iPhones the same way.

The Pro phones go backward, the regular phones forward. The 11 Pro is really amazing. Heavy user and have never had to recharge during the day. Its a great phone.

literally this, as someone with an 11 Pro. They knocked it out of the park with battery life last year and I always wondered if it would still hold up with the 12. i think you safely know when the most attractive thing to you about the 12 Pro is Pacific Blue, then you’re all good with holding off upgrading this year

I hope the battery quality is better than the iPhone 11 Pro's, I had it less than a year and its battery health is @ 85% maximum capacity.
There were articles on Apple going cost conscious(basically going cheap) on iPhone 12 batteries to offset 5G Modem cost.....may be 11 Pro series have better battery setup after all......

As always. Software will be optimized with apps and iOS as more people begin to use the phones and companies can find ways to improve the power. It’ll be fine :)

A bit of a red-herring, because the iphone 12 pro max is not available for testing yet. Hopefully it will be close to the 11 pro max in terms of battery life.

why tf should I buy a "Pro" when there is not so much difference and also low-end 12 iphone is holding better in this test.. so disappointed

"A14 iS mOrE BattEry EfFiciEnT" LMFAO 🤣🤣🤣
There is more difference thank you think. Now if you don’t care for them, than that’s a different thing. But there are lots differences starting from externally and internally.

So, Apple increased the display size for the 12 Pro, the pixel density for the 12, added 5G to both, and decreased the battery capacity. Brilliant. I thought they had learned their lesson after the rave reviews of the 11 series.

And no, you don't need to increase physical size or weight to increase battery capacity. Check out the Pixel 5. Nearly doubled the battery capacity of the Pixel 4 while reducing the volume of the physical device.

I don't think he said that.
He said no SIM cards in the phones but the phones were not in flight mode with wifi enabled for example.

I would be curious if he would run the test with Flight Mode enabled and Wifi and Bluetooth on.
This way disabling any possible use of 4G/5G modems.

Just having no SIM card does not disable phone usage as I think you can call 911 (or other emergency services) without a SIM card, I might be wrong. - I am not, just confirmed you can call emergency services without SIM card so my point still stands the test (to not account for 5G) needs to be done in Flight Mode.
Sure, but the phone won't be stupid enough to enable 5G just to log into a cellular network for emergency calls.

The question I keep going back to, are really just staring at our phones all day? If you use your phone for actual normal reasons, you should have a normal battery life.

It seems that 12 have better battery life than 11? I was quite happy with battery life on my 11 so I guess I'm okay with these results ;)
Keep in mind that this test doesn't necessarily match everyone's use case. I've seen other tests where the 11 outperforms the 11 Pro on battery life (the OLED screen can be either more or less efficient than the LCD panel depending on what you are doing with it). Either way the battery life of my 11 has been amazing currently exceeds my needs, so if the 12 is in the same ballpark I'm sure it will be fine for my needs.

Do you suggest there are components in the iPhone 12 that Apple could have easily made smaller and/or lighter (and thus create room and weight savings for a larger battery)?

Of course, Apple could stop using steel (or even aluminium) and glass (on the back). But they decided that both make the phone look and feel better/higher-end. Is that what you want? A polycarbonate iPhone?

i've had my iPhone 11 since release day and we have the exact same battery health percentage.

Exactly why I switched my order from pro to a 12.

I have an iPhone XS with 87% battery capacity. I assume the 12s are better than what I get out of my battery now?
