That's a 15% drop in battery life, not great. I feel like we got what the carriers wanted - 5G and not what consumers actually wanted - 120Hz display.

Still a remarkable phone, but would've it have killed them to make the phone thicker, get rid of the camera bump and give us all fantastic battery life? I've never seen anyone ever complain the iPhone is too thick.

Maybe you need to reconsider your usage habits. If you're recharging the 11 Pro during the day, you're already using it way too much.

I am sorry how am I supposed to communicate with customers on the go?
Some people use the iPhone as a business tool not a tiktok / facebook device. Reconsider usage habits rofl.

Why not just leave it plugged in all day?

Not everybody lives in their parents basement.

Well that makes want to keep my 11 Pro for sure. It's still 100% Battery health after 6 months of owner ship. My last Iphone X didn't hold up that well. And the reason I didn't wait for the 12 was my battery was pretty much dying in the X.

So you acknowledge your usage is extreme and way outside the norm. Got it. Yeah, you ought to reconsider your usage habits. You're probably spending way too much time using that one device.

Consumers don't even know what a 120 Hz display is. Granted, they would benefit from it greatly even without knowing it exists...they would just know the screen looks amazing, not why. That wow moment you get when using a 120 Hz iPad for the first time...can't be overstated.

Do you have actual metrics on iphone usage that you would like to share with us?
Let's say ages 20-40 7am to 8pm on weekdays.
Add rural vs urban/densely populated areas.

If you can't provide them then how do you know my usage is extreme or way outside the norm? Crystal ball?
Also I didn't know that using your phone to do business is a case of extreme / outside of norm.
Must be nice when parents pay the bills.

If you're needing to charge your phone in the middle of the day, your usage isn't normal. iPhone designed to last all day under normal usage, and it does.

Post your Screen Time. That will tell us all we need to know. You can have mine:

What’s odd about these results is, Tomsguide. Com got the opposite results. The 12 Pro lasted 1 hour longer than the 11 Pro using 4G LTE only.

If you're having to charge your phone before noon somethings wrong. Or you're watching or gaming content for that entire time. Or video calling? Otherwise seems odd to drain that quickly.

I want to be able to select my battery capacity the same as the storage when buying iPhone... iPhone 12 pro max with 4500 mah battery = best ever

I'm not sure. Maybe that I use 95% of the time (ie, for overnight charging) a 5-W wired charger (charging slower should be better for the battery)? Maybe because my phone is quite often not in a pocket, incl. when I am outside (that might keep it a bit cooler which should also be better for the battery)?

BTW, coconutBattery shows a cycle count of close to 200. It also shows that my full charge capacity is a couple of percent higher than the design capacity. How that is possible, I don't know. Maybe there is something like variability from battery pack to battery pack during manufacturing and I got lucky with a battery where all internal components just work perfectly together.

P.S.: And I also rarely draw down the battery very low, frequently recharging it during the day if I fall below 50%.

This: i think there are a ton of variables when it comes to batteries including variations in batteries themselves. i have had iphones delivered to me with 105% of design capacity and other just right at 100%. even then, i suspect some of these stats from Coconut Battery and Apple's health are only rough estimates calculated by the smart chip.

my 11 Pro which has about 100 cycles was sitting at about 103% for the longest time, but when updating to 14.1 [3152 mah to 2980], it dropped down to 99%...it may go back up as i've seen fluctuations between 3110 and 3200 since i got the phone in February.

Nice to see Apple stays predictable and keeps making phones thinner and more useless most of the time. I'm only glad they came up with 11 ProMax and the 16" macbook pro. Now I have a few years to wait for them to accidentally make a device with a decent battery again. They can keep their toys until then.

The real shocker here is that the 12 and 12 Pro get at least an extra hour of battery life over the standard 11 that had a larger battery and lower resolution 720p display...
Oled oled... oled is each pixel illuminated separately.
Then the A14 processor help a bit.

Precisely why this test is so ridiculous. Most people don't play games of watch videos for 8 hours straight, and the battery life exceeds the amount of time they are awake, making it a non-issue.

Since the iPhone X there hasn't been a single day where I've had to plug an iPhone into a charger before the end of the day.
My X barely makes it to the end of the day needs at least one charge

I would take these results with a big ol grain of salt because if there is one thing that's was pretty well-known about the iPhone 11 and the iPhone XR it's that their battery life is pretty great. Almost every review I read for those models singled out how long they lasted, and from my own personal experience the XR gave me the best battery life I had ever experienced on a phone...at least up until that point.

There is absolutely no denying the 11 Pro models will definitely outlast the 12 Pro models when all is said and done, and that sucks, but I wouldn't start freaking out just yet because this video ranks two of the most well-known battery champ iPhone's pretty low on the list.

My launch day 11 pro is also at 85% fastest I’ve ever seen a battery health number deplete. Use a combination of 18w, 5w and wireless 7.5

This is one of the primary reasons that I ordered the iPhone 12 Pro. I’m still somewhat on the fence about exchanging it for the Mini. I plan to use it for the next couple weeks and then decide. I’m just concerned that battery life won’t meet my expectations on the mini.

My first impression for the 12 Pro, in just the last hour is that it definitely feels bigger than my iPhone X. The squared edges probably make for better grip, but they also make the phone feel slightly bigger to me? Maybe I just need to give it a few days to adjust to the change.

Who would have thought that having a smaller battery in a phone that has more features/processes would result in less battery life?

Except they also made the battery smaller in the iPhone 12 vs the iPhone 11, but battery life increased dramatically for the 12 (due to a more efficient processor and probably the new OLED screen). Battery life on the 12 Pro went down because they increased the screen size in addition to shrinking the battery. Who would have thought there are more factors involved?
