How do you have ups hold an order for pickup
we made the washington post several years ago with our tracking thread... had a bunch of us quoted talking about our flights, phones flying together, etc in an article they wrote....
Simple, once you get the tracking number, you can request a hold for pick up at your local UPS CC or UPS Store.
What time does UPS typically open? I will be leaving out of town on the 20th and trying to find a way to bring the phone with me.
That depends on your location. You should visit UPS.com and enter your zip code and should tell you when they open.
So AT&T now charges $5 a month to be able to do next 24 w/ 12 month upgrade, but when im on the apple site and i select AT&T as my carrier and select a payment option it shows AT&T installments as if its the old way, 24 months w/ 12 month upgrade and it doesn't show an added $5. Perhaps this will change in the morning or we will get lucky if we do it through the apple site?

I’m wondering about this too, because if so, I’ll just buy it outright and save the $60. I’ve never traded in a phone with next anyways, I always pay off the remaining balance, sell the phone on my own for ~$200 more than what was left on it and apply that towards my new phone.
when you get a tracking number, and UPS shows it in their system, either call them or get a free MyChoice account, and choose Hold for Pickup online. You need to have it held at a Customer Center (the large hub where the packages are loaded onto trucks for final delivery) rather than a UPS Store because they have to reroute to a Store which will likely delay your delivery until Monday.
As an EDTer, I for one welcome our 8AM preorder overlords. I had already scheduled Friday as PTO, because from past experience - slept in an hour for iPhone X, but somehow still had release day delivery, and then last year, staying up until 3AM and then going to work later that day was annoying - I’d rather just enjoy a 3-day weekend. So with 8AM roll call, I don’t even have to get up early, AND I enjoy a day off! UPS CC is 15 minutes from my office, so next Friday I’ll just roll down there around 10AM and grab my 11 Pro Max, and return before anyone’s even noticed I’d left. BRING ON THE FLIGHTS!

I know this is the iPhone thread (I’ll be ordering the Pro Max at 5am), I ordered the Series 5 watch yesterday and UPS My Choice just picked up the tracking info coming from China. Getting excited!
For whatever reason, it won’t show the UPS CC location in the list of locations to choose from, and I’ve done that the last 3 years...so that’s annoying

You likely won’t get a shipment delay as long as you adjust the pickup store as soon as you get the tracking number. It will get tagged once it hits Louisville world hub before being sent to your home state.

For my fellow NYers, how much of a nightmare will it be to do the Pro Max for In-Store pick up for the 20th? I leave work late next Friday and I would rather pick it up at a story in the city than have it delivered.
Ah ok, so if the CC isn’t showing up as an option for me, but I select a UPS store as soon as I get the tracking, I should be fine for the 20th? I’m guessing it would be end of the day, not early AM like CC?
I would call your local store and ask when their driver usually arrives. But adjusting the reroute ASAP will ensure same day delivery. Just don’t do it the day before and expect to see it show up next day.
Drivers usually hit the stores twice. Once in am for drop offs and again in the evening for shipments going out.

Last year with the S4 I had the same problem, the My Choice app refused to present my local CC as an option. I had to get on my Mac and use desktop Safari to do it, and it was like the 38th choice presented.
