Mine came up right on time. I got the green 512 pro max and received confirmation email at 0800 EST, so in under a minute of start of sale I had confirmation email for 20th. Feature color went fast this year.
Didn't post much earlier as I was working but now I'm off work. 7 AM Central I go on my iPhone and keep opening and force closing my apple App Store until I am able to get in. Was like around 7:01 am Central, I finally was able to get in. First I secured my iUP pre-approval for in-store pick up on 9/20/19 (Verizon, 11 Pro SG 256 GB, after that is complete then I order few more sim-free model for my family and all for delivery for the 20th.

Yea it's interesting because I see that some models shows available for pick up in-store but shows the October ship date.
The same exact thing happened to me, but my previous experience with iPhone preorders is that the delivery date keeps rolling back as keeps getting closer to the release date. If you have an October 1-4 close to the preorder opening, you're probably still getting it on the release date. Hopefully, this year is the same.

On the UPS website, you can track via reference number. Then put in your phone number. That will usually find it. If not you can try the order number without the last digit, I believe.

With a store pick date for Sep20.
Got an processing email from Apple at 5:20am with same store pick up for Sep 20.
And at 9:20am got another email from apple with my Verizon installment agreement. App says processing at the moment

I bought the 512 GB green SIM free iPhone Pro. Delivery date is Sept 20th.
Yes the last time I checked it was back to normal with the two iPhones and case showing in My Orders.Likely their ordering systems are hammered from all of us
My 512 silver Pro Max was fine for 20th delivery. After placing my order, the 512 silver Pro was at Oct 4-11 for my wife’s phone. So I ordered hers from ATT instead, they were still offering 20th delivery. I’ve never had an issue with their delivery dates so I don’t mind ordering from them.

I do recall this and to my memory, its always been UPS.
However, if a person ordered directly with Verizon it is always Fedex. Can't speak to other carriers.
It will be UPS from Apple for phones, cases and accessories typically come Fedex. We are always tracking the UPS flights from China.

The app kicked-in around 05:00:30 (PDT) and I completed my order by 05:01:xx. The delivery date is next week, Friday, 20 September.

This happened for me right when my card was charged for the full amount. So, it went from processing to preparing upon charge of the card.
Iphone 11 with 256GB RAM for me. Replacing a near dead iPhone 6.
I didn't want the Pro because I don't believe in rewarding mediocrity.
I'll go flagship when the display is true Pro level (120 Hz) and no top of screen cutout weirdness. Hopefully, Apple and I will still be around when that happens.

App went live for me between 5:01 AM PST and 5:02 AM PST. I ordered my Pro SG 512 via AUP with 2 or 3 clicks and then bought an 11 Purple 128, both before it was 5:02. Both immediately showed 9-23 arrival date.
Apple definitely screwed up in some way. I ordered a Pro Max 256GB Silver sim-free at 5:01 AM PST, and got 9/23. Then, at noon PST, I looked again and was able to order the SAME phone for 9/20. Cancelled the first order.
Very bizarre.
Yeah - Apple definitely is messed up this year. I get the below message for ANY phone that I try to pre order - has been this way all day. When I hit continue I get some sort of "Oops" screen.
