iPhone 8+ is the best screen. My eyes deserve no less. Flickery PWM low res pentile cheap burn in BS?

lol no

I was so looking forward to the iPhone 11. Well until I seen they got rid of the zoom lens! I would be buying one right away if they kept the zoom lens I can think of no occasion when I would have needed a wide angle lens it’s utterly pointless to me, a zoom lens would have been much better. So sad cos there is no way I’m paying 1179 for an iPhone - even if it has everything I want. It’s just to much!! Oh well, guess I’ll have to find an old iPhoneX on eBay

I reckon that if they did this, the case to buy the pro over the 11 would be too narrow.

Surprisingly this year, every review seems to have forgotten something: BEZELS

We are in 2019. Compare the iPhone 11 (or even the Pros) with just about every other manufacturer's phones and the size of its bezels are completely unjustified. For not talking about screen resolution….
You know, there’s a lot of people that don’t have this no-bezel fetish.

I’m an IT guy, *anytime* I use the term bezel I’m met with blank stares.

I agree with Engadget about the iPhone OLED displays not mattering in practice - Apple's LCDs are so good I could hardly tell the difference once I got over the initial awe of seeing the OLED. I just wish they made an iPhone 11 mini because the 11 is too large for my taste.

I agree with that. I have a XR and I don't mind the Bezels (but this is just me) and I'm quite happy with the screen overall. It works very well for me. However for most people I guess the Bezels are the only true negative about the iPhone 11. By now the Bezels should be smaller and I can see a lot of customers being put off by that.

Having said that I still think about upgrading from the XR to the 11 due to the better camera and the slightly improved processor.

What I couldn't find out yet is if the FaceID has the same improved recognition angle and distance as the Pro models. This would convince me to upgrade for sure.

If Night Mode is just sofware,
which Apple banns from iP XS (Max),
I'm amazed if there would not be s***storm.

People have bought $1.5k flagship products from less than year ago to just few weeks ago.
And then Apple puts new software to a phone that costs half of the recent flagship.
We all know A12 could handle it.

Like Siri running on an iPhone 4. I believed they argued the 4s had noise canceling mics which the 4 didn’t.

Might be something similar but really, they could probably still enable it.

I think the iPhone SE 2 (iP 7 or 8 chassis, touch id, no 3D Touch, only standard wide lens from the 11, A13) will be the value king

Coming from current 8 plus. I would go with a Red 11 or Green 11 Pro. That notch and lack of USB C is my deciding factor at this time to wait another year

Keep waiting bruh. Lolz. What will you do if notch and lightening still there next year? Wait another year? Nothing wrong with the 8, same year the X was released and that phone is still solid.

Examples of apps taking advantage of the A12 power?
I gave you several last time we had this conversation. And you failed (miserably) to find Android equivalents. I don't need to repeat myself unless you have something to contribute that differs from last time.

Yes, really. Mint green, purple, yellow.. Really?

Those are feminine colours? Ok man, if you say so.

Apple's obsession with speed has replaced their obsession with thinness. No mobile apps require the power of modern chips. If they instead focussed more on efficiency they could design an amazing small phone. Plus small phones with smaller screens use less battery anyway.

lolz! You should see the arguments about their laptops. The exact opposite to what you’re saying.

Look tiger. You’re wanting to defy the laws of physics, time and space. Come back in 50 years for your tiny phone with long battery life and awesome screen.

Ah yes, Apple silicon engineers should be taking tips from a know nothing about design on the macrumors forums.

Do you guys live in a fairy tale land where because you think something is a way it is indeed that way in real life?

Apple even had one of their engineers ON STAGE to talk about the power efficiency gains they have made by using many voltage domains. They also mentioned they have low power cores that work most of the time to do most tasks. Getting the compute done faster benefits battery life because you don't have a CPU working at the task for much longer than it need be.

It would be a great phone if Apple hadn't disabled 4x4 MIMO to upsell people on the pros. As it stands, the phone is kind of useless.
? I'm confused. None of my previous phones had 4 antennas let alone 4x4 MIMO and I never had a problem with data speeds. What do you mean with these phones are useless? They work just fine. Are you doing some high end online work or gaming that needs this?

Engadget also favors the 6.1-inch display size of the iPhone 11, calling it the sweet spot between the too-small 5.8-inch iPhone 11 Pro and large 6.5-inch iPhone 11 Pro Max“

For a phone 5.8-inch is slight too big but about right. 6.1-inch is way too big. 6.5-inch is a joke.

But which past? Phones were big, then small, now big again.

what i mean is that its kind of crazy people are comparing the 2019 phones to a phone that came out in 2012. That's 7 years ago.

since then phones have only been getting bigger and people who use the big phones agree they cant go back to the smaller phones because its just better to have more screen real estate

Still too big.

I think the days of small phones are never coming back. I kind of hoped for the largest possible screen in a phone 61-62mm wide, like the first 3 generations. I think it more likely now that the smallest we’ll ever see again is the 67mm wide of the 6(S)/7/8.

Now we have the choice between an iPhablet 11, an iPhablet Mini 11 Pro, and an iPhablet 11 Pro Max.
A year ago, I expressed my hope that by now we’d have an XR “mini”. Maybe next year.
Maybe it’ll be:
-iPhone 12 (smaller version of the XR/11 non-Pro)
-iPhone 12 Max (or Plus) (the follow-up to the current non-Pro iPhone 11)
-iPhone 12 Pro
-iphone 12 Pro Max

I like my SE, but would prefer to get a more up-to-date one.
I don’t know what to think about the rumors of an SE2 (an “8” with a better camera and current CPU)
