I look forward to the pages and pages of comments next year when outraged people threaten to cancel their order (but won’t) because Apple is moving the CE Mark to the back from the side (“but I’ll be able to see it when I put my phone upside down during a meeting”, etc...)

We have already left the EU.
We are in a supposed one year transition period during which most things don't change. Technically.
This is the sort of rubbish design decisions you get when Ive isn’t listened too and pushed out of the company.
I actually find those regulatory symbols and their visual construction incredibly cool looking and like Apple’s solution here with the ultra fine engravings

I can hardly even see the symbols in the photos. There's a good chance they will be less visible on the side than on the back, where they used to be.
Gotta say though, I wished Europe allowed those symbols to be placed in the settings like in the US.

Well, the retail price is kind of ridiculous. Even with the reduced sales tax (it changed from 19% to 16% for pandemic reasons...), the regular 12 starts (= base storage) at 876.30 and the pro starts at 1120 EUR.
Canceling my order because I, unlike you, exclusively stare at the side of my phone instead of the OLED screen.

You have no clue what you are talking about. Try to live in Canada for a while and then you will appreciate EU more. Just the fact that Canada has only 1 year warranty but EU has 2 as a standard is one of those things that you appreciate once you lose it. I've moved from EU to Canada 2 years ago and I'm shocked how much crap is allowed here that would never fly in EU.
EU is not perfect, but consumers are very well protected and the system is beneficial to most unlike here.
Not to mention the amount of chemicals etc. that is allowed here to be put in the food which is banned in EU.

That is absolutely diabolical, awful. Must have been designed (and I use that term extremely loosely) by the same people who have worked on everything to do with brexit.
Not that I care but I ordered the iPhone 12 Pro in the US and I am moving to Europe in January. Guess my phone will be an exception.

After well over 25 years of being a Mac user exclusively over the years people cared about specs, performance and MacOS's evolution. Today people are super petty over markings on their phone that are near faded to a point you have to hold the phone up to light to see it. Also complaints over visual antenna design. Then more nonsense about a notch. Sometimes I wonder if I should feel sorry for Apple not being able to please such petty people or should I feel sorry for the petty people because they conjure up any type of nonsense to complain about?
