The stupid placing is hardly the EU's fault. The CE mark and "do not dispose of this item in the general waste" symbol have been on every iPhone from the the very first one, but normally Apple sensibly placed it centrally low down on the back. God knows what insanity overtook their design department to make them think the metal band would be an appropriate new place to put it.
This is the sort of rubbish design decisions you get when Ive isn’t listened too and pushed out of the company.

I can hardly even see the symbols in the photos. There's a good chance they will be less visible on the side than on the back, where they used to be.
Gotta say though, I wished Europe allowed those symbols to be placed in the settings like in the US.

Wish they'd print it on the sides, instead of engraving.

Print coming off? You must have been rubbing it the wrong way then.

Sorry to tell you but this is China Export.

🤔 ;)

Just kidding, it's the official logo, China logo is just a cheap trick.

And the added hardware of useless mmWave...so on the whole EU probably wins this round. UK might be the biggest winner if they have no mmWave and no markings.

Well, the retail price is kind of ridiculous. Even with the reduced sales tax (it changed from 19% to 16% for pandemic reasons...), the regular 12 starts (= base storage) at 876.30 and the pro starts at 1120 EUR.

Will Apple have to change CE to UKCA on the first of January? Or not? To be honest, I can't be bothered to even start reading the rules to work it out.

Using the UKCA mark from 1 January 2021

The UKCA marking can be used from 1 January 2021. However, to allow businesses time to adjust to the new requirements, you will still be able to use the CE marking until 1 January 2022 in most cases.

In some cases you will need to apply the new UKCA marking to goods being sold in Great Britain immediately from 1 January 2021. You are encouraged to be ready to use the UKCA marking as soon as possible before this date.

Okay, Twitter -Put down your phone, close your eyes, and take a deep breath, as much as your lungs can take. Now hold it for four seconds and then exhale all the way out. Now repeat again. And again. And one more time.

See, you are still alive and everything is fine. The CE regulatory symbols are there but you can decide to not react to them. Just breathe in and observe, don't hate or love them, just observe them and keep breathing in.. and out.. in.. and out..

We have gone over this ad nauseam here on MR, it's getting old and tiresome.

You have no clue what you are talking about. Try to live in Canada for a while and then you will appreciate EU more. Just the fact that Canada has only 1 year warranty but EU has 2 as a standard is one of those things that you appreciate once you lose it. I've moved from EU to Canada 2 years ago and I'm shocked how much crap is allowed here that would never fly in EU.
EU is not perfect, but consumers are very well protected and the system is beneficial to most unlike here.
Not to mention the amount of chemicals etc. that is allowed here to be put in the food which is banned in EU.

So next time you say something uninformed, maybe do a little research before.

European government in a nutshell. 🤮

That is absolutely diabolical, awful. Must have been designed (and I use that term extremely loosely) by the same people who have worked on everything to do with brexit.

After well over 25 years of being a Mac user exclusively over the years people cared about specs, performance and MacOS's evolution. Today people are super petty over markings on their phone that are near faded to a point you have to hold the phone up to light to see it. Also complaints over visual antenna design. Then more nonsense about a notch. Sometimes I wonder if I should feel sorry for Apple not being able to please such petty people or should I feel sorry for the petty people because they conjure up any type of nonsense to complain about?
