Last I checked the the UK is in Europe.

”Put a case on it” is such a bad argument for the design of something being bad. That’s like buying a car where the paint on the front chips off if you go faster than 40 and someone being like “just out a bra on it and it’ll be fine”

Sorry but that's a terrible analogy. Millions go over 40 with their cars on the daily, but only a literal handful go case-less with their phones. Sure it's an awkward placing but is it Apple's fault or the EU/UK?

My analogy has nothing to do with the number of people that use it. It has do with designing a product that only “works” with a different thing you need to buy.

The title of the article is misleading, its not that all iPhones sold in Europe need these markings but rather all iPhones sold within the european union. The UK is not part of that union.

Technically, yes. The UK is still a member of the European Economic Area until end of 2020. As a result, the CE mark still remains on iPhone 12 sold in the UK.

The design was so clean it didn't even have a logo on it.

A "literal handful" don't use cases? Like me, on any iPhone in 11 years? I can't imagine there are only a few others like me, who don't want to hide the cool design of their device. Do you have a source for this statement??

Who cares, it is just an iPhone, one of millions, not some sort of an exclusive painting, LOL. 😋 Even if you want to use your iPhone without a case, they put it in the corner of the device which is bound to be covered by our hand or finger-tips every time we use the phone.

I'm very aware of the regulations, and I don't disagree with requiring them somewhere. But there's no good reason for requiring them on the body of a phone rather than in an accessible location within its software.

Well, actually, there is. They cannot be accessed on a ‘dead’ phone/device. Simple as that.

The notch is hideous, at least the regulatory symbols are not visible when looking at the screen.

I wouldn't buy anything that had an unnecessary, intrusive logo on it. They simply spoil everything. Should have been put on the back.

Looks ugly as sin, on the 11 Pro the frosted glass hid it really well you could hardly see it.

Also messes with my OCD that it’s on one side not central on the back. Plus why does it have to be so big.

Well at least you'll know if your being scammed by someone trying to sell an iphone 12 and your in the EU. Just look for the CE mark, if it's not there then it's a fake phone. Naturally the scammer will use sweet talk to try and convince the buyer that the phone is the US version and was imported from the US, hence no CE mark. But then the majority of us would be thinking 'why go through the hassle of importing US made phones into Europe?'. That's when the sensible ones walk away and the not so sensible fall for it.

Import one from the US. Go visit New York City (cheap flights), buy an iPhone and shut up when going through customs.
