Had this issue since day one with my 12pro on AT&T but thought it was due to my service. Very very annoying in chat groups missing half the texts/responses. Glad it's getting some coverage so hopefully gets fixed soon!

Wife and I both have these issues with our iPhone 12 Pros. It has seemed to get better after I turned off iMessage and signed out of iCloud and then signed back into everything. Doing reboots after every step of course. But it still isn't perfect.

For more details: I'm on T-Mobile and my wife is on Verizon. It seems to be at the worst in group messages. The reason we know we miss them is because we are both in a couple of threads and we'll each see different messages.

There seem to be two issues: not getting notifications and not getting the message. It's interesting, now that I think about it I'm not getting messages notifications on my watch or phone a lot of the time. Hmm.

Yup - noticed missing messages when I switched from my 11 Pro to the 12 Pro. Incidentally, I had switched from ATT to Verizon the week before. Only missed messages (that I know of) in groups so far. One has some Android users and the other is all iOS users. There's no pattern to who's messages go missing (both Android and iOS users) and its been both MMS and SMS the that have gone missing. Also some would still come through on my iPad and MBA when not showing up on my iPhone. Apple support had me re-set up my phone as new (vs from backup) and I've removed all call blocking/filtering apps. So far, removing the apps seems to have helped. If I notice missing message again, they said to try going on just wireless to rule out WiFi and then try contacting Verizon as well.

I feel so much better that it is big enough of a problem to make MacRumors. :) I've tried everything "they" say to fix the problem and nothing has worked. Definitely need either Apple or AT&T to do something.
Studies have shown that forums like this make issues appear more widespread than they actually are. Apple and every other large company doesn't pay attention to this kind of stuff. Their prioritization is based on reported incidents directly to them. Go fill out the bug report if you want it fixed faster. Otherwise, you may be waiting.

I have had the missing group green bubble messages problem since day 1 of activating my iPhone 12, 3 weeks ago. I spoke to Verizon, opened a trouble ticket, spoke to 2 Apple senior advisors and a member of the engineering team. They installed a profile on my phone, took logs, I uploaded pics of the issues. So it is on Apple's radar. I haven't heard anything back recently, but the advisor said I probably wouldn't hear back once I uploaded the logs. Lets hope they get a handle on this.

The issue I had with Verizon was then 5G SIM card they sent me was not properly setup in their system.

My wife’s iPhone 8 had this problem. I upgraded it to iPhone SE2, brand new phone setup and still the same intermittent problem. All settings check out and tried reset network settings, to no avail. Happens when other family members text wife’s phone as well. I don’t think this is a new bug.

Interesting. I just found out today I was missing a text message when someone told me they had texted me yesterday and I had received nothing. I’m still on an iPhone 11 Pro Max and am on AT&T. This doesn’t seem to be limited to just iPhone 12’s.

Glad to see this is getting more attention. I talked to a friend last night who said she and someone else was also having this issue and neither are on an iPhone 12 or 12 Pro. From what I've been able to gather from the other forum posts, this could be a carrier issue related to 5G. But then that doesn't explain others on older iPhones or that most seem to be group messages with someone on Android. Seems like a lot of finger pointing between Apple and the carriers, though.

Its a little frustrating that on their feedback form they haven't even updated it to reflect that iOS 14.2 is the latest OS...

I had a similar issue recently and did a "General -> Reset -> Reset Network Settings" and it all went back to normal.
Just tried this and in my one initial test it did appear to make a difference. Will have to wait and see if it truly was a fix now. Thanks for the suggestion.

How would I know if I'm not receiving some messages? This is why, I think, many people now prefer WhatsApp.
I noticed my issue when I got the text so and so liked the comment... how if you like a comment in an SMS group chat and it doesn't like it on anyone's end but yours? Accept I didn't see the initial comment. Then I managed to get my friends to all send me screenshots of that same point in the chat, and I was missing one text that they all received. There's also the fact that iMessage should be syncing everything up anyway, regardless of whether they're SMS, MMS, or iMessages...

No problems on AT&T. Did anyone check their settings. Imessage on Icloud, SMS, and messages. I have heard of one syncing issue when an old phone was still active and not reset yet.

The problem, for my wife’s phone at least, was intermittent so it was quite hard to determine if the reset network settings temporarily helped or not. It certainly didn’t fix it for me anyway.

Not just me..

Yes, I'm also on AT&T and have done my fair share of troubleshooting. Check out the other forum pages listed above. Plenty of folks detailing all of the troubleshooting. Also of note, at least for me, I had setup my iPhone from an iCloud Backup out of the box and have also tried resetting everything and setting up as new. Not seeing any change for the better.

Same with my 12 Pro. I’m a new Verizon customer from ATT, but the issue didn’t start until 14.2. I get the SMS texts, but get no notification at all. I just happen to check the thread and see that I got a reply.
