Have you tried it with bluetooth off?

I am seeing lots of bluetooth issues. I am not getting any notifications whatsoever when I am in my car (connected via bluetooth). Not sure if all of this has more to do with bluetooth or the idiotic Do Not Disturb crap (Which I have set to off and set to activate manually.

This really needs to be fixed. I didn't just go and spend money on a phone that doesn't do some of the basic things that I have relied on for years.
As it turns out, when my phone number got ported over from Verizon to T-Mobile, someone "blacklisted" all the "short codes" which allows outside businesses to send you text messages. Customer Svc rep at T-Mobile fixed that by un-blacklisting all those short codes and now everything is good.

I was getting no audible text message notifications. I decided to play around with various configurations to see if something worked. This worked for me.... Bluetooth off I get audible notifications from phone. Bluetooth on but not connected to anything I get audible notifications from phone. Bluetooth on and connected to anything, I get no audible notification from the phone but do get a an audible notification from the device that is connected if the connected bluetooth device has a speaker. See if this works for you.

Beyond a definite missing notification a couple of mornings ago, this seems to have been much better for me on the latest 14.3 beta, but I’m loathe to believe it’s gone away because I’ve had the odd couple of days where it’s been less pronounced in the past.

This is exactly my experience. Some days it doesn’t happen at all and other days it is prominent. What a strange, strange bug.

I can’t help but wonder if it’s a kooky server-side issue that is somehow manifesting in this way. I don’t know if that’s plausible, but a few years ago I had insane Apple Watch battery drain for a short period of time which turned out to be something on Apple’s end.

I seem to have solved my issue with not receiving texts including iMessages by deleting the contacts and manually putting them on as well deleting any old group chats from Messages

Everything has been working since then and I’m now receiving messages/notifications on my 12 Pro Max fine.

What exactly do you mean by "deleting the contacts" and "manually putting them on"...?

Delete the actually contact? Manually putting them back on? Or are you talking about deleting the message string for a contact? So confusing. :(

Did both. Deleted the contacts that were affected for me from my contact list and also the message string in Messages including previous group chats.

So what you’re saying is “screw you Apple”

This is so intermittent that I’m not convinced any of these nonsensical attempts to fix the problem are long term answers.

You’re up Apple. You fix this thing.

I just noticed that if you are on a call, you can not force the phone to another cellular mode through cellular settings. 5G to LTE and vice versa. I wonder if this is why we get dropped calls. As if the phone isn't capable of switching during a call, which would be preposterous.

It’s been a week since I did this and I haven’t noticed a recurrence. Although I’ve lost my old messages with my friends, at least now I can see new messages they send.

Just thought others may want to try and see if it works for them.

@Vazza ... So I wonder if just deleting the message string would cause normal behavior? Had you tried that before deleting and re-entering the contact?

I tried deleting the contact first from my contact list (not in Messages) and re-adding them but still couldn’t see their new messages so you are possibly right that deleting the message string (including previous group chats) may be the action that sorted it out for me?

I deleted all my texts a few times in the past few weeks and the issue persisted anyway.

The only thing that actually works is fully closing out Messages when you're done with it. That's the only way I receive notifications for all of my messages. It has NOTHING to do with Android, or groups, or Bluetooth, etc. If you leave Messages open, it is showing the last message as read like you're still in the app, even though you may not actively be using it. This is a huge issue that Apple needs to get figured out ASAP. I've been looking at other phone options, but I don't want to switch, if they would just pull their heads out of their collective rears and fix this. This is a huge problem for a core function of a phone. It's nearly as bad as not as receiving phone calls.

Talked to Apple today. This is going to be fixed with a software update. They’re still working in the solution but they are definitely getting flooded with complaints.

Was it mentioned by you or the Apple representative that dropped calls are a part of the problem as well?

It wasn't unfortunately but I didn't ask. My Sr Advisor was definitely clear though that anything like call and text issues are top priority. Where I think this one is such a challenge is that it's intermittent. Harder to track.

For me it is not intermittent. I simply do not ever receive the text messages that are sent to me from a few friends. ☹️

I have a iPhone 12 pro max. Having issues with getting notifications for text the text come threw but don’t get a notification I updated to 14.2.1 but still having the issue is it just me or did this update not fix the messaging issue

How would I know if I'm not receiving some messages? This is why, I think, many people now prefer WhatsApp.
Updated to 14.2.1 and still having issues getting notifications for messages they come threw but no notification
