My issues have been not getting messages (both iOS and Android users, MMS and SMS, on wifi/not on wifi), missing notifications (on phone, on watch, on Mac) and not getting incoming phone calls (doesn't ring and goes to voicemail for the caller). They all seem to be related as they started at the same time and at times when one gets fixed, the other restarts. So far....the past few days have all been good. I'm on an iPhone 12 Pro, 2 series 6 watches, iPad Pro, M1 MBA

I think Apple is trying to become more like Google support. I was just told that I’ll just need to wait it out for a software fix. But no clue even of course or if Apple is even aware of the issue.

It was Thanksgiving week. They arnt going to be as responsive. There will probably be a 14.2.2 this coming week or next.

This is absurd now and, potentially, dangerous. 14.2, 14.3 beta so far and I gather 14.2.1. That’s several versions of the software that have a pretty damn critical bug; this should have been fixed weeks ago, and it reflects incredibly poorly on Apple that it hasn’t been.

I agree it’s a pretty large and important issue however thanksgiving week did not help. I just hope the carriers and Apple are taking it seriously and working on it.

I commend 9to5mac for publishing an article about it today.

Looking at you macrumors

MacRumors actually did post an article a couple weeks ago but this definitely does need more buzz. Huge issue

The article from Nov 13th you’re referring to was about text messages not calls being dropped. And then 14.2.1 came out with a “fix” for group messages alluding it was fixed.

Yeah I was pretty disappointed that it wasn't fixed with that update.

They definitely are not acknowledging the missing SMS messages. Each time I have called Apple or Verizon, they act like they know nothing about it. It seems like all of the employees working remotely has had an impact on QC for the recent software releases.

Still occurring with me as well. texted my friend and locked my phone, he replied and I got no notification.

For me it seems to occur if you get a reply within a short time frame after sending a message and then leaving the messages app. it acts like you are still in it and counts it as read.

I spoke with Verizon yesterday about something else and thought to ask if they were aware of the issue. The tier 2 support said they are and actively working on it.

100% that's what's going on. I even once saw the badge appear for a split second and then disappear in the app library.

Just got my iPhone12, and it has this same problem: it won't receive messages from Android, i.e. SMS, and that is from a single user (my wife's phone). I've not yet tested with group messaging. The additional weird thing is that SMS to my phone number still arrive on my dying Android; it's as if the SiM card is dual assigned (Apple tech's assessment). I was on long tech support Chat with Apple (~30min) then Verizon (~2 hr) yesterday. Verizon found my SIM status was locked for 60 days (from date of purchase 11/27), but that it showed unlocked after I powered off/on the iPhone. Problem still exists. So have a formula 1 car that only makes right turns? Very frustrated and I'll go back to Android if this isn't solved in a week.

I don’t suspect that today’s 14.3 beta 3 will fix the missing sms issue. If they had a fix, it would be pushed out to all users.

The only hope for me is that they wanted to test the fix first by including in the beta, and then pushing 14.2.2 out right after.

Last Friday I had a follow up from a supervisor at Apple who indicated that they have the problem on their personal phone. Additionally my engineering ticket is still in process. Don't expect a fix anytime soon. I'm attempting to ignore the issue for now as I don't really want an android but we will see how I feel about it later this week.

Anyone who thinks they fixed it by doing something to their phone, such as a reset, restore, or any other nonsense is wasting their time. The admission from Apple to me is that this would NOT fix the issue and it is 100% a software problem. iOS 14.2 seems to have been a "test in production" method. Being from an aerospace electronics manufacturing background I find it baffling but this is at best, a Class 2 electronic device.

Apple limited warranty agreement does not guarantee/warranty any software either.

Yeah, I'm supposed to have a call with a supervisor today too. I actually have my phone up for sale now and am most likely making a full switch to the Note 20 Ultra. I have an 11 year old that stays home from school with the pandemic and I can't be missing notifications from her. Unless today's call gives me extreme hope, I'm switching.

Unfortunately it's going to be a bit folks. Just got off the phone about my case and this issue is definitely still in investigation phase, definitely not anywhere close to it being in a software update.
