I truly don’t understand the constant brigade of 5G hate. Why would you want to stick with a technology what will become outdated rather than benefit from faster speeds, better coverage, and lower latency? I understand that 5G is kinda shaky right now, but it’s only the beginning.

I would pay extra for an iPhone 12 without a 5G chip... its a useless, energy inefficient, gimmick, LTE was already fast enough for video streaming at 1080p, gaming, banking, whatever your bound to do on the tiny screen and software limitations of a smartphone.

If you want to professionally live stream the olympics in 4K from your fan seat you might as well bring a production crew and not depend on your phone, as good as it may be...
I just love when people make such statements that they would pay more for a feature-less product, when in reality we all know that's B to the S.

5G is to use consumers money to fund the infrastructure, which will only benefit the future emerging businesses and investors. Self driving cars, smart city, smart glasses, etc.
I think you have that backwards.
user will use the first implementations of the networks.
parts manufacturers, car makers, emergency support orgs and regulations once in law or by laws and other components will lead to self driving cars, traffic lights, emergency vehicle data and rerouting, location of emergency personal within structures (think fire rescue in large building needing to know structure components in real time location of people updates on tank pressures etc on their HUD).

You’d pay MORE to have a phone that’s out-of-the-box not future proofed? Interesting. Why not just turn off the 5G switch?

I had my iPhone 12 Pro Max for 2 days and after that I returned it because while 5G Auto was enabled my phone got extremely hot even with the screen turned off. And 5G Auto destroyed my battery, while my 11 Pro Max can last 5 days with a single charge if I dont use my phone with a 93% battery health.

I really wanted to love 12 Pro Max but I couldnt, just watching a 30min YouTube video took almost 30% of my battery and phone heated up to the point it was difficult to hold in my hands. And while my phone heated up my screen became very slow, as it was running it at 10fps, I never got the overheating notification though.

5G though gave me very good speeds in Finland, 5G/400 gave e 425/100 and 5G/1000 gave me 700/100.

Can’t take your comment seriously as the mini hasn’t even been launched in October.
Besides, the battery is way too small.
having a conversation about the 12 at this point without mentioning the mini is like talking about electric cars and not mentioning Tesla.

I watched the entire series of his dark materials on my mini yesterday without having to charge. The extra size of the 12 is simply a burden. The extra screen size might be a reason some would like it, it as an all in one device the mini is hands down the best. The camera on the pro doesn’t even justify the extra size.

That's insane. Over 24% marketshare this quarter. Even during a pandemic. That means 2021 iPhone will be bigger than this number next year.

I mean, from a statistical standpoint, this makes sense. iOS is about 30% of the market and you have two options. Android has MANY options. So the probability of the iPhone being the top phone out of the overall set of phones is likely since the other part of the market has so many options. Now that fact that Apple has almost 30% of the market to its name is an impressive feat but that's a different conversation.

A little bit of sample bias here, no? Seems to me this is just comparing the launch day bump of iPhone against the mid-cycle volume of these others?

This happens when you go full IN
This will happen with arm pc in 2021....Worlds top ARM PCs will be Apple

I would say the biggest deturnent of using 5G is the battery life.

Yes, that is true, however, I find on my 12 Pro Max it does not effect it to the point my iPhone is dead by night. In fact, my iPhone has gone two and a half days without a charge while on and off 5G and WiFi.

Edit: Also, I am not having the heat issues that a lot of people are reporting while on 5G alone. Yes, my iPhone gets warm, but not anything near alarming at all when I stream etc.

I just love when people make such statements that they would pay more for a feature-less product, when in reality we all know that's B to the S.

Noup, for me its paying more for an extra feature, the feature of more battery life, less heat, less network scanning/band hoping, etc...

I would go as far as saying the space took by a larger, less efficient, first generation 5G chip made Apple sacrifice other improvements, but, even if it was just battery, to my view this was a loss, its better to have the best, most efficient version of proven technology than the first generation of the bleeding edge one.

More so, when people talk about future proofing, I, like most people here, switch phones within 2-3 years, I havent heard a single use case, not one, that isnt possible already with LTE+, which gives you around 150 Mbps already. 4K live streaming, snappy downloads, etc. Is all something I can already do.

In my country 5G is MIA, and I dont think in 3 years time LTE will be shut off, so, I dont buy the future proofing argument about 5G.

This only references the 12 Pro. Is the 12 Pro Max also in that number? Because then they should take all of the Galaxy devices and bundle them into a single line. May be a little misleading.

Yes this is what I’m seeing on Xfinity mobile (Verizon’s network). And both LTE and 5G seem slower than LTE on ATT (my prior network).
I run my iPhone 12 on the T-Mobile US network. I've seen download speeds on the low bands as high as 350 mbps on 5G. My old iPhone X was lucky to get 90 mbps download speeds on LTE.
