I would pay extra for an iPhone 12 without a 5G chip... its a useless, energy inefficient, gimmick, LTE was already fast enough for video streaming at 1080p, gaming, banking, whatever your bound to do on the tiny screen and software limitations of a smartphone.

If you want to professionally live stream the olympics in 4K from your fan seat you might as well bring a production crew and not depend on your phone, as good as it may be...
I think 5G would be more useful in tablets and laptops. Only so much you can do on a phone.

I know I’m definitely one of the few having a good experience, but T-Mobile 5G is definitely 2x faster than LTE in my area. I’ve been able to ditch Spectrum Internet (since they were raising my bill twice in 5 months during pandemic) and solely rely on my 12Pro Max for hotspot when I need my Mac. Battery lasts about as long as my XS Max did on WiFi, so I’m NOT MAD AT ALL!

Yea, it's like those who say they love the notch
Uh I've never seen anyone actually say, "I love the notch". What I have constantly seen (and I agree) is people saying that they don't notice the notch during normal use. Show me where people are saying they love the notch?

I wish I could give my iPhone MAX back. Not impressed with it at all. The audio cuts in and out during phone calls. same problem with iPhone 8 Plus. battery drains too fast

really disappointed in APPLE quality over the last few years
I love my Note 20 and my samsung S20 Ultra better than any apple phone.

Saying that samsung has better build quality than apple is ridiculous. They literally had to scrap an entire gen of Notes, because the battery caught on fire.

Go look at the complaints within carriers websites of the Note 20s from actual users and most of them are hardware and software related. The iphone complaints are usually along the lines of, "they suck, android is better".

Next you're going to claim that software support via Samsung is faster than apple. When in reality, they provide one maybe two generations of updates. And once the next Gen handset is out, software releases for your model, that you just paid $1.4K for, will grind to a halt.

Then you have the fact that they release 27 versions of every model and the Galaxy in Feb, while the Note in October. So by October, the hardware within the Note is old.

Before you say fanboy, I too own a Note.

Do you know why this is an issue from a technical standpoint?

It's probably just too new. Technically, the iphone 12s don't even support proper 5G SA (standalone) right now.

I don't know why Apple didn't push for the X60 modem, that fixes a number of the weaknesses and even supports proper 5G CA.

Last I heard, the dual sim/5G problem wasn’t just an Apple issue. re: X60, it was nowhere near ready for this launch. It’ll be in the 12s.

I was turning off 5G, but I noticed I get a more stable connection when I'm in my office in SF using 5G.
Before under LTE I would get data, but it wasnt really stable.

Also when I step outside my office I get AT&T 5G+ (mmWave)

With 5G turned on I'm still getting amazing battery with my 12 Pro Max. I end the day with about 19-20% where as before I would have to plug in around 1-2Pm after unplugging at 7AM
Also for me under LTE my upload speeds are faster than regular 5G.

I didn’t expect anything less than for it to be at the top of the list. From the elegant refined new finishes to the best in class display.

Unlike those cheap trinkets made by Samsung.

If they had just wait maybe a month or so, it would have been ready. The X60 will be in the next galaxy released in late Jan or early Feb for sure. The x60 modem was announced 10 months ago.

Being announced doesn’t mean they can deliver tens of millions in time for Apple’s launch. It would’ve had to be ready as samples back in Jan-Feb for testing and qualification, and then in mass production by Aug-Sep. It wasn’t, and the X65 won’t be ready for the 12s either.

Let's see...
5G is slower than 4G or an outright fiction perpetrated by Telcos, unlike when Samsung and LG deployed groundbreaking, revolutionary 5G.

These sales are just users who refused to upgrade to the 8, X or 11 because it didn't have 5G (which us funny, when you look above). Studiously ignoring sales comparisons from those releases.

Sales numbers don't matter because Apple Fanbois (but isn't their money spending the same?)

It isn't fair to compare because Apple is the only provider of iOS while a diverse range of companies split Android sales.

Am I missing anything?

No 5G near me but I had hands on with the 12 pro max and then bought one. Dunno if it’s the shape but it feels lighter than my 11 pro max and it just feels much better. Screen seems sharper too. Loving it in the leather case.

This only references the 12 Pro. Is the 12 Pro Max also in that number? Because then they should take all of the Galaxy devices and bundle them into a single line. May be a little misleading.
The 12 Pro Max was released in November along with the 12 Mini. This is not reflected in the data shown.

you do realize like LTE there is a progression of stages for data speeds, congestion management, etc. Give it a year or 2 and you’ll see real speeds and more battery drain.
Then you can just buy an iPhone when 5G is actually a lot better like promised. By then there will probably be a new gen or two out, and this 12 might not support the new standards.
Also, it's corona time, so those phones aren't getting much use.
