I’ll hold off with the judgement until I see the real product but it looks promising. The logic with the design change is as simple as to drive up sales. Almost very smartphone now is curved and it’s time to return to flat. Watch many manufacturers go flat next year. Smartphones have matured and people are not upgrading yearly. Apple is aware of that.

That shiny stainless band looks bad but if they’re doing matte backs I could see them keeping it that way. For the Pro at least. From a design standpoint they have to account for the bling in the high end model.

Fair enough, but there's nothing going to be groundbreaking about it. Grid of icons. Slightly better camera. 10% more battery. A?x whatever chip, 999 for a 128GB, 1299 for a 256. Its the same crap we eat up every year and this year will be no different. I'll still prolly be getting one, as I skipped 11 because I still owe 800$ on my XS.

“Grid of icons” is already rumored to change, and we’ll find out tomorrow.
Camera: we have no idea how much better. If it’s using LIDAR for the camera app, perhaps a lot better. There are rumors of a higher optical zoom range. This is why you wait for the announcement.

As always, they are ugly, but then Apple adds the secret sauce to the final product that makes it attractive. Even though I admire the benefits of the stainless steel frame, I like the aluminium texture better.

I don't actually see a noticeable difference. must be that will mostly change only on the rear. The iPhone 4 had a dramatically new look, but I don't see THAT MUCH on the next phone.

It's just pretty on the back. Get rid of that awful notch and then we talk about something that will impact users.

The iphone 4 was a nice look. This with the midnight blue should be very popular.

Yup. Getting the Midnight Blue 6.1” Pro should it release in that color. I’ve always wanted a dark blue iPhone and if the rumors come to fruition, it’s finally going to happen.

Can’t wait!

I prefer the matte stainless steel band of the iPhone 4. I've never been a fan of the mirrored stainless steel finish.

5.4 looks great. Still concerned about how Apple ID treating their devs though before I can get excited about the new hardware.

I will be very sad if iOS turns into a place where every app has a different payment system with a different dark pattern to unsubscribe from recurring payments.

As a developer, I get the griping. But as a consumer, I appreciate having one place to see and cancel subscriptions, and the curation function that apple performs. Yeah, there’s the occasional bad outcome, but overall it’s been a nice result.

Fugly if true. And flat edges is very uncomfortable to hold, in addition to making the phone more likely to break if dropped. This is a major step backwards.

Man they're ugly. I hope the real ones look thinner.
Actually I wouldn't dare using one without a cover, but still...

Well, this might be last iPhone sporting with I/O port. As people who still not sure with future all wireless solution, better getting this model before I cannot plugging any lightning cable anymore.

I hope by "iPad Pro-Style Design" that means USB-C. Because that's one of the best parts of iPad Pro.

Yes, it’s quite sad. USB-C offer many protocols which current lighting doesn’t. Says like display output, USB 3.1 connection, connect to dock/peripheral etc.

Lightning is capable at USB 2.0 speed only, and only supported audio protocol at the best. Video output still requiring active adapter with built-in controller on cable header. With about $1000 price tag device, having inferior USB 2.0 onboard is quite disappointment. The only advantage of lightning is a tad slimmer footprints compared with Type-C ports.

Storage in HDDs is glass now as 512GB is soon 318TB for smartphones and laptops/desktops for 16k movies and cable tv shows as the glass AI chipset on the cameras can reshoot a converted 144i-1080i films or cable tv shows to native 144p-native 1080p with all the proper audio and color fixes before doing another conversion to native 4k-natiive 16k at wherever hz and aspect ratio the screen size is with no screacthing of the image or black bars. like a solid state battery as well glass could be used for make cpus/apu/gpus too and even be used with ai to enhance the webcameras and smartphone cameras too to what we see on many professional cameras right now and also make the professional cameras used by film makers and NASA into extreme res and hz like in slo mo modes with night and day options with hdr and coloring seen on current AMOLED screens to boot and they can be added on using a battery pack that can also recharge using solar and water power as well for more battery life for budget devices saving you on the front while giving you options for hardware upgrades later on even for higher end devices as they can use 3d printed glass that can keep it's cool even under intensive loads vs tradtional circuit based cpu and apu and ram/ssd/apu designs on the smartphones/pcs/smarttvs here.

The iPhone 11s are the thickest iPhones in many years. But they don’t feel as thick because of rounded edges - in fact, Apple explained that it’s why they moved away from sharp edges.

I’m not really convinced by the idea of returning to them AND add thickness. You’re talking about 1mm, that’s more than 10%. It makes a differences in the hand.

We’re not in the times of the iPhone 4, where 9,3mm could be comfortable for a 3,5 inch display. Now we’re talking about much bigger displays.
Well what about a solid state glass based combined battery/cpu/ram/ssd/camera combination using solar power to recharge it so it never dies and is also upgradeable with glass ssds with ai encoded on the glass to enchace the devices and laptops for 16k at 1000hz and for hdr upgrades as to put over the camera lenses as it fixes zoom slo mo and resolution filtering with proper scaling and aspect radio to kill the dreaded pan and scan issues many older flim makers and people know coming from the VHS era as well as gamers too as black bars and streatching the video or game image in question kill the experience using advanced ai in the glass ssd/camera lens/apu glass cover that also act as a solid state battery back using solar power to recharge the devices as well as tesla will use this for cars and jet makers will as well after lucid fixed the air turbine compressed engine problem to kill our national oil addiction for other than rocket fuel and plastics as we have this in measuring tire pressure on soon to be made nanotech frcition based 3d printed rubbers for tires to clime vertical walls and even driving on ceilings with cars?

Maybe. Or the next phone after this could eliminate the notch and add in-screen touch. Who knows. But the S-cadence seems to be over.

how does it seem to be over? The iPhone X design got two further refinements (and evolved to another in the XR-11). If anything it isn’t over but rather it is extended.

Do we know the dimensions of all the dummy units? Really curious if the 6.1" is the same size as the X/XS/11 Pro and if the 6.7" is the same as the XS Max/11 Pro Max.
