am I the only one who wishes they’d go back to aluminum on the Pro? Stainless steel scratched way too easy and is so much heavier.
I supposed a brushed steel would be nice.

What’s wrong with their OLED displays?

Aluminium is a softer metal than stainless steel. My X has way fewer scratches on it than my iPhone 6s had and the X is older now than my 6s was

I agree, but people need to justify their "premium" design. Even with my current XS Max, I forgot what the stainless steel even looked like, since I rarely take it out the case.

Not everyone is affected, but the pulse width modulation (high amount of flicker) or PWM adds eye strain for some.
Is that Apple-specific? My understanding is that it’s an unfortunate side-effect of OLED technology.

One day we’ll have Micro LED. 🙂

My silver iPhone X🅂 looked awful after two weeks. My Space Grey iPhone 11 Pro has held up very well.

I think it’s just the polished silver steel.

But i would have preferred a 5.4-inch iPhone 12 Pro :(

Oh well.. let's wait and see how big the differences are.
I think that Pro moniker also stands for long battery life. I'm not sure how big of battery they can fit into that 5.4" body.

Either way, I haven't been this hyped for an iPhone in a decade. That 5.4" will fly off the shelves, no doubt.

I wonder with all this talk of reduced sales and a recession if they will release the iPhone sooner?

Wishful thinking but maybe this year...

I think all android OLED's have PWM, but its about the extent that its implemented. As far as I've read, Apple's is one of the most intense.

for what its worth, if you aren't having issues I wouldn't go looking for them or second guessing yourself.

If you suspect your eyes have been strained or you've been getting headaches from staring at your phone for hours on end, could be something to it.

Not trying to provoke FUD, just clarifying :p

Finally, a line-up that actually makes some sense!

Mid-tier
  • 5.4-inch iPhone 12: $649
  • 6.1-inch iPhone 12: $749
Higher-tier
  • 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro: $999
  • 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max: $1,099
And they'll no doubt keep the SE around for the budget option.
And I bet they keep the iPhone 11 around as well. My guess - $549 or $599

If the only differences between 12 and 12 Pro are going to be cameras + LiDAR, I’m gonna sell my iPhone X and upgrade to an iPhone 12 5.4”.

I love the idea of going back to a smaller phone without compromising too much on features.

I wish Apple would get in their head that some people want a small pro phone. That’s a big part of what people wanted with the new SE but they didn’t get that. Why do they have to keep getting bigger screen sizes? It’s not like my hands or pants pockets are getting bigger.

The 5.4 sounds like the one I’ll go for, especially if they bring the thickness and weight down. I really like the size of my iPhone 7...just wish it had the edge-to-edge screen.
