still going strong. 11:44 (the day after) and on 31 % of battery. Did watch one hour of videos at breakfast, WhatsApp and a couple of phone calls, plus download Fitbit data via bluetooth and analyse sleep data. I went to sleep yesterday with 41 %

For me this is an amazing improvement from the 6S and it lasts definitely more than one day on battery saving mode. The fact is that this phone is so fast that I do not see why I will have to not use it in battery saving mode for the next couple of years.

The battery report states 5h8' on screen so far.

Amazing little phone

P.S. the most disappointing thing is the camera. After so many generations and coming from a 6S I expected a larger improvement. To me it seems that all that improved is the AI management of photos, but the sensor not so much, which makes sense given that the size has not changed a lot. I still do not understand all the fuzz about those "great" cameras

Makes no sense as the cameras difference from 6s are massive. It’s one of the best cameras you can buy certainly from older models

well, if you read the reviews you could infer that the camera is so good that it could replace a reflex camera, which is laughable. Sure thing they are better than older models, but quite disappointing. The width Angle for instance can only be used in very good light conditions. So I would rather prefer one camera and a lower price, hopefully the iPhone SE 3 will go in this direction ;)

To me it's one of the best improvements. Now you have 2 cameras including the super useful ultra wide angle. Larger aperture, larger pixels, improved 7 element lens, optical image stabilization...then all the amazing stuff they do with computational photography including deep fusion, night mode, and incredible HDR. The bottom line is the results are far superior to anything prior to I'd say the iPhone 11.

Also, both cameras now support night mode so I don't think it's correct to say that they can only be used in good lighting conditions, in fact quite the opposite is true now.

Back to the topic, I've still been finishing my days around 60% with light use, which is better than I was getting with my XS and worlds better than I was getting with my SE gen 1 which rarely lasted a day, even with 98% battery health. So far very pleased.

I'm a stay-at-home person these days thanks to COVID but I went for a 5 hour hike yesterday with the mini for the first time. Using Maps intermittently, taking a LOT of photos (first time properly trying out the ultra-wide!), and burning through two drone batteries using the mini to fly it, I hit 20% while I was having lunch at the end. Large chunks of the hike were in areas with patchy or no cellular signal as well. Pretty solid, I think!

Overall significantly better than my ancient 7 I was using for a couple of weeks before getting the Mini, and seems slightly better than my X as well.

My hubby, normal usage, had 50% battery life left at bedtime. Of course, others who use their device more will have different results. He is very happy with the phone and the battery life.

Typical wfh day usage. I am not dissapointed.

The sensors are bigger than the ones used in the 6S, as are the lenses. However you’re still talking about extremely small lenses and sensors. Bearing that in mind, the level of quality Apple can squeeze out of sensors and lenses that small is truly remarkable. And with smart HDR, deep fusion, and night mode, the photos you take should be significantly better.

29 hours later I am at 2% (started from 96%) with this use.

what to say: perfect!

Not bad. Was this 4G or WiFi? Avg level of brightness?

Does using dark mode exclusively make a noticeable difference in battery life?

I read the reviews about mediocre battery, but coming from my iPhone SE I‘m finding it an improvement.
I can‘t test properly as I’m bedridden, but I’m streaming Apple music on 4G to a homepod all day and only charge once a day. My old SE almost had to be left on the charger to do that.

I’m coming from a 6S too, and am conversely kind of stunned by the camera performance of my 12P. Have you tried it Night Mode yet? Massive game changer!

It’s possible the Tele (and Ultrawide) lens on my Pro is contributing to the wow factor for me (being able to zoom in and out is a total luxury for me after years with the 6S), but the crazy accurate dynamic range, low-light ability and surprisingly useable Portrait Mode are all miles ahead of what my trusty old phone could pull off.

I found it annoying to be honest, in particular the way of setting the time is cumbersome, but I will give it a second chance.

65% brightness, dark mode enabled, only 4G enabled. Took a few photos, were on the phone for a few hours, texting, web browsing and the occasional Twitter and Reddit visit.

The latest iOS update seems to have fixed the 12 mini’s battery drain. I now can go hours and lose only a couple percent of my charge (whereas previously I’d lose about 15% with the phone just sitting in my pocket).

After 5 days of usage, I’m caving in and returning the phone. The battery life just isn’t up to par. It’s not just OST, its whatever is running in the background (listening to pod casts / music ). The phone just isn’t up to par. My average OST per day is around 3:30 hours and yet the battery can’t last a full day.

I’ll tried to defend the phone but when my battery drains 3-4 x faster than my gir’s 8+ with 82% capacity, something is wrong.

Ive submitted a return this morning. + the weight distribution on the 6.1 makes the phone feel lighter

Peace out.
