It's better than 6s/7/8/SE2, worse than XR/11. I got full charged at 5pm and now 3pm I still have 43% left. Off course I disable all the background refresh as well as email refresh, GPS off, 5G auto with low data mode. BTW, mini always showed 5G icon whenever I left my office wifi range. I'm almost all time 5G connected in town.
Is it significantly better than the 4.7-inch iPhones on their original versions? All of the results I’ve seen so far seem to indicate that it’s pretty similar. The 4.7-inch iPhones seem to be pretty similar if compared on their original iOS versions.

It's much better 6S & 7. My 6S & 7 when they are brand new I can only last around 8 hours, 12 hours for SE2. All my 6s/7/8/SE2 need the mid-day charge. My mini definitely can last 24 hours easy

Someone like you shouldn’t even be in this thread, you don’t even need a phone that doubles as a computing device and internet access point. 1 hour of screen time all you need is a burner flip phone.

A smart phone is for...personal and business use.
You‘re getting a lot of hate for this, but I agree with you, at least on that last part. mag71303 said the iPhone 12 mini is not for people who use their phone a lot, not for people who use their phone for texting a lot (what?), media, and gaming, and I can’t believe how many people here are siding with him/her.

The mini is every bit as powerful and capable as the bigger iPhones and I’m on mine all the time. Just because the battery life isn’t as good doesn’t mean you can’t use it just as much. I plug my mini in any time I get the chance and I’ve never worried about it dying.

I had a 7 before my current mini and had a new battery twice (when I got it in early 2017 and when it got a new battery in December 2018). Never had battery life close to my mini, which usually ends the day with something between 30 and 45% left (no charging during the day).

Had the mini since launch day. First few days battery was dire and basically dead at bed time. Like 2-6%.

Since the initial software update I go to bed with between 30-70% battery left.
I am not a heavy user, but my phone gets used!

I’ll often use directions in the morning car journey,
I steam Spotify much of the day to my Bluetooth headphones,
I check messages and mail and place orders throughout the day,
I use the torch and camera sporadically,
Etc etc.

Everything feels just like the typical new phone experience of having ‘brand new’ battery life.

I don’t think anyone needs to worry about this other than the people who know who they are, the people who game or movie the whole day or something as power hungry.

Do you mind if I get in touch with you for life advice from time to time?

What a snippy, useless response. Downboated. 🧸

Individuals with lighter uses don’t want their phone to be crippled by a weak battery when something occurs that either drains their battery very rapidly, unable to maintain their normal charging pattern, or have a rare day of heavier use. Nobody is asking for the mini to be something it isn’t.

I came from a XS Max and I have to admit the battery life is sort of getting to me. I was getting annoyed with having a big phone and decided the mini would be great to drop down to, especially since I don’t use the camera much, but now it’s kind of getting on my nerves it basically loses approximately 10% per hour despite tweaking the settings, running on dark mode for most things, etc. Is this normal? ~10% per hour?

I have access to outlets at my place of work but it just sort of gets to me now.

Seems unlikely to be normal but could be for you. Streaming video playback is rated for 10 hours, so that would be 10% per hour battery "loss".

I suppose it’s going to take time for me to get used to this. I have an iPad Pro 12.9” which is why I felt it was unnecessary to have a bigger phone, but I do take it out and browse reddit when I have downtime.

Battery life with the mini is still good with 1.5 days (on average) between single charge uses.
Yeah I’m on my third time of not charging it overnight since Thanksgiving and I’ve been generally trying to charge my phones with higher % left on the battery. Noticeably better than iPhone 8.

Has anyone noticed improvement in battery life on the 12 mini after updating it to iOS 14.3?

I have a iPhone X and have noticed a considerable improvement after updating to 14.3.

I will be getting a 12 mini in the next few days, so I would like to know whether battery life on 14.3 has improved.

Thanks, that is very encouraging news.
Yeah I understand the concern. According to Apple, the battery life should be better or equivalent to all iPhone models prior to the 12 line. This was why I chose to go from a iPhone XS Max to an iPhone 12 Mini since I wanted a smaller size and relatively similar battery life. I originally was not getting this when I first got my phone two weeks ago and I was worried something was wrong since I would not consider myself a heavy user since I do not play games, constantly stream media, etc.

I hope 14.3 will give you satisfactory battery life with the 12 mini. I think iOS 14.2/14.2.1 was really hard on battery life. I actually thought my iPhone X battery was gone since by early afternoon I had to plug it in to top it up. But with iOS 14.3 the battery comfortably lasts the entire day.

I have a 12PM and it suffer with standby drain. Over night it takes about 20% with no apps running. I have no problem running all day without charging but I don’t like that standby drain and I hope they will solve this in 14.4.

How many days ago did you update to 14.3? Maybe the overnight drain will ease off in a few days if there are background processes going on. Did you have this drain on 14.2 as well?

The same day it was released. I think within the hour that MacRumors posted the news about it being sent out.

Yes, had this drain before to but maybe not as much.
