Thank you for your uninformed negative remark, I'm sure you have lots of research behind it!

Yep, I've also been positively surprised of the battery life. Coming from 6S, I feel that I finally don't need to worry about the battery lasting through the day when if I have to use Google Maps navigation or some other batter draining apps. It's so good that it should be ok even after the capacity will eventually drop. You heard lies, or nonsense from people who use their phone more than is healthy. After a day of intermittent use, because I have a job that doesn't require me to use my personal phone, I have 60% battery left as I head home. You definitely get less battery with iPhone 12 mini, but there's a deeper question in whether or not the battery lasts as long as it "should".
With the same usage pattern, you could have ended the day with over 75% on a 12 Pro Max. Meaning you can go two full days with no charge, meaning half the battery cycle over years, meaning Pro Max battery could last twice as long.
Counting battery health and its replacement cost over time (out of warranty), I'd rather play it safe and go with the biggest iPhone.
Absolutely psychotic comment on your part.
holy moly, bean counting on battery capacity. "You ended the day with battery left over, but if only you had MORE LEFT OVER!"
What a ridiculous conversation.
The mini are priced to upgrade before battery issues are noticeable. There's no such thing as "too much battery". Back in the old days a Nokia would last you a week over a single charge. When it degrades, it's down to 2-3 days and it's still good, when it breaks down completely it's down to a full day and it's still tolerable.
Now when that Mini degrades completely, you'd need 2 maybe 3 full charge in a single day while the Pro Max could've still withstand a full day. That's not bean counting. I don't want to recharge too often because it breaks the battery even faster.
Holy moly why would you yelling at people for wanting MOOOAARRR BATTERY LIFE?

I think that is the case. It is two hours longer than an iPhone 8, two hours less than an iPhone 12. The battery life is fine.Somewhat sad, but I guess I can appreciate Apple for at least giving it a shot. I have one and I like it a lot compared to the iPhone XS Max I had previously. I have to say the battery life is a bit annoying, but that's really it. Though apparently it's supposed to have the same battery life as the XS Max according to the Apple website so maybe I'm just more aware it since I knew about the low battery life for the 12 Mini.
Not true. It’s two hours longer than an iPhone 8.I’ve heard the mini’s battery struggles to get through a whole day - when brand new. After a year or two usage : it will be useless. I wish Apple had tried this after battery technology had ramped up quite a bit more.
But you don’t want to call your own wife „most people”, do you?My wife is definitely not a tech nerd. She needed a new phone and didn’t want a big one. An XR wasn’t even considered. Neither was an 11 when she realised how big it was.
Her choice was between the mini, the 12 and the SE.
Apple is not new in keeping a separate SKU specifically for the education market (contracts). Remember the eMac? The educational only iMac? Apple can maintain the current basic iPad in that special SKU, and raise the price of the consumer retail lineup. The base iPad is strategically important for Apple especially with respect to the education market. If I raises the price from $329 to $499 that will be problematic for Apple in a very important & competitive market.
If you don’t care the bells and whistles, why not just get the 2020 SE? Doesn’t make sense if you said you don’t need bells and whistles, yet you want the current 12 mini, which is a flagship hardware and features, to be cheaper. Many people want a smart phone without the bells and whistles at a relatively affordable price. I can afford whatever phone I want whenever I want, but even still, I would hardly care if I had an iPhone without any cameras at all.
The price point of the 12 mini is a joke. Drop the mini, rename the SE line as the mini line
