It is the size of your thumb that makes it not work. Can try all day with my thumb. Barely works. Just barely tapping with any other finger and it’s perfect.

I am going to try a Pitaka case and see if it works. Will be here tomorrow. If someone has already tried the Pitaka and it didn’t work, please let me know so I can cancel my order.

The Pitaka case is extremely thin and leaves a lot of the body exposed so anybody testing with this would need to make sure they’re not touching the body somewhere. Maybe it’s thin enough to conduct as well? 🤷‍♂️

Regardless if the case (or not), it’s bugging out on me on the Lock Screen AND the app dock. Moving back and forth from the App Library and the Home Screen takes a couple of tries.

Don’t think this case is plastic , or rubber but a carbon type composite so likely conductive. Someone in the other thread has one and says it works with the screen protector.

Edit just read it’s aramid fibre not carbon fibre so shouldn’t be conductive.

Gotcha, that makes sense.

The problems seem to be somewhat mitigated once you get Face ID to unlock so I still wonder if it’s just keeping everything in a sleep state too aggressively (especially given how it killed Amazon music for me earlier).

Depends on if the glove is pure rubber , how thick etc. If it didnt conduct anything your touch screen would not sense your finger at all with them on.

The glass and plastic films of screen protectors conduct enough for them work in usual cases but not traditionally thought of as conductive materials.
Held the iPhone in the left hand using a glove, but didn't notice that I rested the iPhone on the finger on my right hand 😄, guess it's a conductivity issue after all.

Most of us have tried that. Nothing changes.

I have same issue but it seems to be case issue. With case on it wont work but without case it seems to work fine

you cannot say that
from my point of view and experiance it works fine when you remove one of them ethier screen protector or the phone case

It’s the screen protector in combination with the case. If you remove the sp the case won’t cause any issues.

Hello Gang! I too had this issue with a Zagg Glass Elite screen protector installed. I removed the screen protector and the phone now functions flawlessly as intended!!!

Yes, it works fine if you’re missing either the screen protector or case. But that shouldn’t be the case (pun intended!).

Same problem here. Screen unresponsive in iPhone 12 Mini when the case and a screen protector are on. It is a grounding issue because the problem does not occur the moment the phone is charging via wire or if I touch the camera lens on the back.

It actually still occurs for me when charging. Tried both laying flat while charging and holding while charging, torch button still barely unresponsive, but the camera seems a bit easier to press.

I’m going to the Apple store tonight to purchase the Belkin Ultra Screen protector to see if the issue still exist. Anyone using the Belkin Ultra Glass screen protector and having this issue ????

Same issue here. Got the 12 mini black 256gb model yesterday and installed a thin TORRAS Slim-Fit black silicone case that has the screen edges slightly exposed as well as an ESR Tempered Glass screen protector. I haven’t taken either the SP or case off because so far, although almost always I run into responsiveness issues especially on the Lock Screen, I find a work-around by trying to very sensitively touch various parts of the screen and push very slowly rather than as aggressively as I’m used to, and it almost always manages to bypass the problem.

I see from this thread that some suspect a hardware issue, software issue or both. I did reach out to Apple Support via chat and the agent said they were not aware of any official reports for this, I did ask them to pass it on as many have complained about this. Definitely an annoying issue but Apple tends to get to critical fixes ASAP, so hopefully soon the misery will cease.

Save your money, it won't work.
