There is no secret, been using a apple 30W fast charger and a MagSafe 3-1 charger for the last 5 month, only charge to full in the morning battery health still 100% 😅

Calling BS on battery health accuracy, enjoy your phone people and don’t look into battery status, it’s not accurate at all.

What he said!

I charge my launch day 12 pro overnight on the Apple fast charger and leave it plugged in for about 8 hours, my battery is still showing 100% health.

There are people charging between 30 and 80 percent with low 90 health so that just proves there is no way to regulate battery health by charging method.

This battery health thing is nonsense and the worst thing Apple ever introduced. Just use your phone as normal and stop fretting.

Seems like there is a lot of variation with the battery degradion speed.
Guess I got lucky then that my launchday 12PM is still sitting at 103% after nearly 180 cycles.
I always charged with the original 20W power supply btw.

What application do you use to show the battery cycle ?

For me it's charge when available. Call it micro-charging or whatever, but AFAIK these LI-ION batteries prefer to be constantly partially charged. Also, no need for 5W charging as the 15W Magsafe works nicely for "charge when available" and not charge from very low voltage to 100%. IMHO, keeping the battery in partial charge state 99% of time should help it maintain charge and thousands of cycles before it's below 80% of design capacity

On work days, I definitely follow the same rule of charging when available. I usually stay around 50%-80%.
Here’s today as an example;

Refreshing to see folks that take care of their batteries and manage their charging.

My spin is to maintain the lowest peak and average charge that will satisfy my 6-8hr daily usage, subject to a single plug-in per day and a couple hours reserve SOT. It’s also automated (‘custom optimization’) using a smart plug plus Shortcut/automation so no additional effort.

Earlier this week my iPhone dropped from 94% to 93% when I updated to iOS 14.7. Today I decided to do a DFU restore since I was having issues and now it shows 90%. It dropped from 93% to 90% in a matter of minutes. I wonder if I keep on restoring my phone maybe I can get it to drop to 80% so I dont have to pay for the battery replacement.

Mines down to 86% now, and I have only charged it with my Samsung Duo wireless charger that charges both my personal and work phone at night. Never had an issue with other iPhones on it dropping. My 11 Pro Max stayed at 100% at a year when I passed it down to another family member and even now its not as low as my 12 pro max. I believe the accuracy on the meter because my battery life has gone down a lot.

Hi all,

iphone 12 pro max - purchased in october 2020.
Battery cycle count - 167.
92% today.

i've started using backbone one game controller and play a lot for the last 2 months. Charging sometimes 2 times per day.

the battery dropped in those months for about 3-4%.

using wireless Nomad station and leave over night always.

usually i get 6+ Screen on time. Sometimes with double charge - 12-14 hours a day. I am a heavy user.

my two year iphone 11 pro max has 88% now.

Had this yellow "insight" message this morning, I was out getting a tire checked. Took about 1hr, 45 min where my phone % dropped to 68%. Not much usage at all, just surfed sights briefly on Safari.

On iOS 14.7, My AirTag, Find My...and this darn Tile app running. But c'mon 30%+ drain!!?
Just gonna flat out say it, this is the worse battery I've had in an iPhone ..ever!

**The camera..ok the best personally I've owned on iPhone...but again *using that & video absolutely KILLS the battery so fast...🤔🙄

I have a corded PowerBank...I'll probably get a MagSafe charger (not that $99 Apple one)..I just hate that I have to for every day things.

Today is the 8th mo. anniversary owning this phone.
*Battery health STILL at 84%, been holding there for a while now. (Said it before, just want this darn thing to hit 80% so I can get a new battery.)

Excessive heat is a big killer for battery, and its varies by country obviously with ambient heat. I have 243 cycles on my 12PM and 98% health which is acceptable, always try to keep battery temp below 35C and use 5w charger as well as keeping it between 25 and 75 percent

Apple finally agreed to replace my battery even though I was going to pay. They couldn’t replace the battery in store so they have sent it out to repair. The system flagged my iPhone I’m guessing because it was only 9 months old and at 90% battery health. They gave me a loaner phone and said it would take 5 business days. Surprisingly the loaner iPhone 8 has 100% battery health.

I should try to contact them again. Ive had it 8 months on July 25, 84% battery, 82 charge cycles.
Past 2 times contacting them I get no where. I suspect it just depends on who you get.

Not a fan of having to send the darn thing out via mail for repair, but oh well.

I would defintely suggest giving it another try. It took me 3 tries until they finally agreed to service my iphone. I really dont like being without my phone for 5 business days, but in the end I know that I did my best and that it will be in good hands. Theres only so much they can do in the store.

I still have a launch day 12 Pro Max that I used daily up until a month ago which is at 100% capacity. I have optimized battery charging turned off and I keep my phones charging on my nightstand with a 5W charging brick all night.

I’m in the same boat, but with the 12 Pro. This has been the worst iPhone for battery life that I’ve ever had. I’m at 89% battery health and it’s dropping at least 1% per week. I can’t get through a full day without having to charge. I don’t plan on getting a new phone in the fall but will definitely be looking for a new battery.

Same boat for me too dropping from 92% on Tuesday to 91% today and has only been charged twice in between and hasn’t been bellow 50% charge on either day. Given the number of people impacted on just this forum, it doesn’t look like an isolated problem.

I’m in the same boat as everyone here. Launch day 12 pro max and battery health is at 90%. Don’t know if anyone else remembers but I read back before the iPhone 12 release that apple was rumored to use cheaper batteries. This was to offset the 5g modem and also then removing the power brick. Does anyone else think this might be true???
