Time for a class action lawsuit , Apple is intentionally engineering batteries of a lower quality , thereby requiring replacement sooner to make up for a nother record breaking profit year.

Samsung on the other hand has improved on the quality of their flagship phone batteries.

Just for the Apple fanboys here. I'm not switching to Samsung, it's time that Apple stop short changing their loyal clients.

How did you get them to replace the battery?
They'll sometimes do it if you push hard enough.

My wife had one of those defective iPhone 6s+ phones where the phone randomly shut off when it was under 60% and would jump around percentages (coconutBattery showed random capacities). We went to one Apple store and showed them in person how it would drain from 60% to 10% in less than 10 mins - and shut off. Well, they said its as "green" and refused to replace it. But, we insisted because my 6s+ lasted me days...

So they very reluctantly agreed after making us wait for hours. But in the process of replacing the battery they broke her phone. We ended up walking out of that particular store because not only where they rude, they were incompetent. We went to an Apple Store near our house and, within 5 minutes of walking in explaining the problem, we walked out with a brand new 6s+ replacement and an apology for the other store's behavior.

Depends on who you get I guess?

How did you get them to replace the battery?
I had contacted them last month or so battery being at 92%. Along with battery not lasting long anyways. So, I contacted again now at 89% pushing this is not right to degrade that fast. They agreed and setup battery replacement. I have to send it into Apple. No Apple store close to me and Best Buy is 26 miles away from me one way.

Based on the rumour mill the 13 will be getting the same battery tech as the 12.
Most likely a larger capacity, however durability most likely will be the same
That's what I'm waiting to find out. No more launch day iPhones for me! I'm taking a wait and see attitude from now on. No sense spending cash just to get the same issue.

I’ve only had my 12PM since March but I’m still at 100%
Mix of standard wireless charging, MagSafe charging, 20w wired, and 5w wired

Interesting. I don't see an obvious pattern here.

Some people have great batteries, others not so much. My wife and I have the largest capacity % difference than ever before - she uses her phone 3x more than I do. What I do see is people are using their phones more than ever these days (without realizing it) (my wife included). Some of us don't use our phones very much (me). I've got an iPad, and I spend most of my time on my MacBook with a 4k external monitor (far easier to read on this!).

My iPhone is at 104%. My wife is dropping below 95%. <shrug>.

Nor do I think it is planned obsolescence... Apple would lose far more $ from people associating poor quality with their devices than saving a few dollars on batteries.

I think it's more likely that people are using their phones more than ever - instead of their computers. Some leave their phones in hot cars, in the sun, some have 8+ hours of screen on time every day, others let their phones sit on their desks while they use a 4k monitor (me).

Launch day iPhone 12 Pro Max. Mostly wireless charging. Battery health is 91% for some reason.

I guess it takes getting the right person. I've seen it here on this thread...some replaced phones, or batteries. 3 times I've contacted Support about 89, 85...now 83% and get the same nonsense. "Normal performance."

I'd rather have them say "there's nothing we can do." than say "your battery is normal." Stop...nothing normal here, not with mine and so many others on this thread!

Please do not insult my intelligence!

And it was mentioned, perhaps rumored. Yeah the 13's, Pro/Pro Max will have a larger battery. But *same components as the 12's* - If true...fine, bigger battery, but same junk as 2020.

Maybe I'll have 89% after 10 months instead of 83%...or maybe 99%???
It's a battery lottery apparently.

In a weird sense I am glad that I’m not the only one facing this irritating issue.

Purchased my 12 Pro Max in Jan ‘21, it’s barely been 9 months and my battery shows at 90% with just 127 cycle count yet degrading FAST. Possibly the worst battery life I’ve ever had in the first year of ownership for an iPhone.

Jokes on me for spending after taxes around $1900 for this ****.

Edit - $ x2 with my wife's iPhone 12 Pro showing at 92% as well.

I started thinking there was an issue way back in Feb. 99...98....97% in just weeks. I saw a FEW posts, not many, few on Reddit also. Then it really started piling up with the health.

Of course there are most likely so many more we don't know about, they aren't on MacRumors, perhaps they don't even check the health on their phone and have no idea.

Yes, no question this is the worst battery I have ever had on a phone, and the most expensive iPhone I've purchased.

Nov 25th for my 12 PM, 83%, as of today I finally hit 100 charge cycles. Trash!

damn that’s bad, 61% capacity left?

I'm curious, was the drop from 100-90 as fast as 90-83? Does it seem to be going faster? Slower?

You're still lucky, as once it hits below 80% which does seem very likely before it's first anniversary.
Do rip off the Apple "Geniuses" head off if they dare try to say it's normal and refuse sometimes.

I'e had several iPhones over the year and not once had a battery problem until 2nd or 3rd year of ownership. 12 Pro Max might be the beast, but the battery is garbage.

No, that's the current charge. It's at 127 cycle count with 90%.
Still everyday it keeps getting lower.

I started from all day battery life, with 50-60%+ charge left to now struggling to keep 30% charge left in a normal day to day usage, even hitting low power mode at 20%.

My 12 PRO MAX is reaching 10 months of use. Still at 100%.

I never let it get below 20% (rarely). I charge mostly via magsafe. 2/3 of nights I put it in airplane mode.

Heavy use due to COVID home work (have used less and less my iPad)

Mind trading? Lol.

I didn’t either, cycle count is just 127 yet capacity dropped to 90% and going down fast. Sadly, Apple doesn't have an official store over here, and the resellers/authorised shops won’t give a damn unless it’s below 80%. So stuck in limbo. Maybe a global outrage might help a brother out, or else I might as just replace the battery with own expense soon. Just disappointing, that is all.

Honestly it was my last time trying. I was just going to ride it out and replace at 80% paying the $69. We know Apple cut corners with the batteries starting with the 12. It’s going to be a big problem for them as time goes by when they hit a year.
