Do rip off the Apple "Geniuses" head off if they dare try to say it's normal and refuse sometimes.
I cannot wait until 80% hits, it can't come soon enough. I hope they try some garbage of this back room diagnostic check and tell me it's "not 80%" - when the phone states 80. Give me the darn battery now!

And the Apple store near me...these employees won't care, few come off like they have all the power in the World, smug fools. (Not all of them, a few)

I still recall when my iPhone 5 screen was bulging, clearly the battery was ballooning. They said "it's fine," the jerk barely looked at it. Now that was nearing a full 2 years of that phone.

I ended up getting a 3rd party battery install pretty cheap, it was fine until the 6 Plus came out.

*Sorry if I come across disgusted, been dealing with this for months.

Been using my phone less these past weeks with my 12 PM launch day so I've only been averaging 7-8h per day (SOT and screen-off combined) so it took a while to hit 200 cycles. Still above 100% health using 99.9% Magsafe charging with 202 cycles and counting

Dang. Your battery is massively better than mine.

Battery luck like some few users here. I don't have a mac currently so I don't even know the manufacturer, but TBH that should be the NORMAL behavior for batteries like what a lot of iPhone 11 and X users had. That's why IMO that reduction of battery quality/reliability rates from the 12 series is part of a more aggressive planned obsolescence strategy to make more money especially in this current stagflating economy

Hi, can folks who seem to have a great battery life on the 12 series share the manufacturer details from coconut battery? As I'm starting to suspect either Apple or one of the Manufacturer is liable for this battery-gate. Link - https://www.coconut-flavour.com/coconutbattery/

12 Pro Max's battery is hot garbage, made by Desay Corporation.
For comparison, my iPad Air 3's battery is over 2 years old and just hitting 91%. Made by Sunwoda. No performance issues at all.

Mine is Desay on iPhone 12 Pro Max. Seen a lot of junk from this company on this thread, but also low numbers 90%'s from Sunwoda and Huapu also.

*I just checked my 2015 iPad Pro, yeah I know that's a massive battery. But health wise, it's still doing ok considering ho wold it is. No odd drain on this even 6 years later. That's Huapu.

(My Apple Watch 4, that has 91% battery health. no idea who makes that battery)

Launch day 12 mini, I’m at 90% capacity with only 208 battery charge cycles. I too, think the there’s something up with battery’s in the 12 generation. time will tell.

Apple dictates the quality of battery standards they have to meet.

The manufacturers are not to blame.

I don’t know the reason, but I know that it’s extremely disappointing to have a battery degrade so quickly. I actually think I might have used my iPhone X even more than my iPhone 12 Pro, and it was at 98% over two years into ownership. Granted, the battery did expand and damage my phone, but it was holding a charge great.

Hey guys, what battery app are you using? I see a lot of the Coconut Battery, is that only for the mac? Or are there iOS apps that are recommended? Thanks.

I don’t think you can download an iOS app that reads battery information. If I recall correctly, Apple no longer allows them on the App Store.

we've already done the battery manufacturer comparison/table several pages back or more. there is no link. it seems to be that's its not one particular battery manufacturer. I do think charging habits are a cause. please can people new to this thread read it from post 1 as its tiresome seeing the same old stuff.

To be fair, it's a bit unreasonable to ask people to go through 640 posts. May help if the OP was turned into a Wiki post where the comparison table, general information, etc could be collated to stop it being spread throughout the whole thread.

Please correct me if I am wrong but I thought the charging habit also can not be linked to the issue because many have stated they use wireless charging exclusively, charge overnight, charge to 100%, etc., and have no battery problem. Also, in my case, I charge my phone exactly the same way I always have and I do have this issue with the 12 Pro Max and none of my other iPhone batteries have had this issue. So....

He’s just using the Apple Trademarked Slogan - You’re using it wrong.

Any genuine worry over a product that is not even a year old is disregarded as bad usage behaviour while giving Apple a clean pass. I expect that r/Apple but not over here. Seriously, 127 cycle count in 9 months yet my battery health and effective day to day life is 90% and dropping fast.

127 cycles in 9 months at 90% is fast and worrisome especially if we're to believe the 500 cycles, 2 years, 80%.

So, I just compared my 12 pro with my X. The X has more of a percentage left than the 12, even though it had the same usage pattern (until it was moved over to a secondary phone) over 3x the amount of time.

Note: The X is in the shop, as the battery swole up like the bloatware on a Samsung.View attachment 1830483View attachment 1830482
Totally messed up!
That drop from June 11 to today is mind-blowing! 😳

I updated to iOS 14.8 today, and now I am at 89% battery health, again in just 9 months.

At this point, I am seriously considering selling off this 12PMx to instead get a 11PMx or go to Apple which is third party operated and make my case for a new battery.

Anyway given its drop in battery life, I’m guessing by 11th month it will be around 80% and I can force Apple to cover it within warranty.

I love the iPhone 12PMx, specially in Gold. But the battery issue is extremely disappointing.

Tried Apple Support App Diagnostics and Liza from the Support team while polite and understanding, simply said that battery test came out normal and Apple can’t (wont) do anything about it, this company is letting me down, it’s sad.

It’s iPhone 6 battery issue all over for me. F—k!

WOW. My iPhone 12 Pro Max purchased day 1 is only at 89% max capacity.

I tried to find the coconut app, but the first several screens of battery apps don't have coconut as part of their name.
I tried searching for the app developer "coconut-flavour" but saw zero hits to that.

Is the official name something other than coconut?

No coconut
