What's a Mac app? (KIDDING!) OK Thank you.

Here my iPhone 12 Pro Max data:

Relavant details:
I typically have it resting in this Anker wireless charger
I am constantly on the edge of using all of the 512 gb storage.

WOW. My iPhone 12 Pro Max purchased day 1 is only at 89% max capacity.

I tried to find the coconut app, but the first several screens of battery apps don't have coconut as part of their name.
I tried searching for the app developer "coconut-flavour" but saw zero hits to that.

Is the official name something other than coconut?

No coconut

You can only get coconut battery app on the mac. It’s just a software you install. It used to exist on the app store but ever since Apple changed that back then, it won’t work and therefore developer stop supporting it for the app store..

Launch day iPhone 12 Pro. 97%. I am a light user. Every iPhone I had prior that had the battery health visible is always at 100%...even a couple of years later, so I am not impressed with the iPhone 12 Pro in that regard.

bruh y'all talking about 90%+ and i'm here with 86% on a 12 pro since mid-november. it's not even a full year... i'm covered by insurance so i'm thinking, should i go swap the battery? i charged it 75% of the time during night with 20W brick + magsafe charger and 25% of the time during the day connected to my macbook

I’ve got a 256gb 12 pro from launch day and it’s at 89%.

I wonder if it’s even worth selling independently with that low of a battery or if I should do Verizon’s upgrade offer of 700 bucks

Mine is Desay on iPhone 12 Pro Max. Seen a lot of junk from this company on this thread, but also low numbers 90%'s from Sunwoda and Huapu also.

*I just checked my 2015 iPad Pro, yeah I know that's a massive battery. But health wise, it's still doing ok considering ho wold it is. No odd drain on this even 6 years later. That's Huapu.

(My Apple Watch 4, that has 91% battery health. no idea who makes that battery)

My launch day iPhone 12 Pro battery is by Huapu and it is junk. Battery health is at 87%

My wife’s 12 Pro Max down to 93% yesterday. Mine still at 103.9%. Dropping fast and making history. All the phones we ever had were within a few % points.

This is the slight twisted logic I'm in right now.
Avoid 4-5 days of Apple replacing a battery, still sitting at 83% today....and this may not really solve the problem. (Previous post a few pages back, battery replaced and he lost 5% in the first few days!!)

OR..trade in this aggravating phone, start over. Take advantage of $750 trade - same exact config on 13PM as this 12PM - with the few improvements...bigger (maybe hopefully better quality) battery - as we've seen this is hit or miss on this thread. The bump in camera specs always look enticing on the keynotes...next week we'll see real world examples on YT.

Also do everything possible when it comes to charging aka, ditch MagSafe, 20W brick....go back to old school charge and start over? The trade in...again in my mind, is the highest $$ I've personally seen from Apple on my phone and I a bit shocked how high it was.

Does that higher trade in price somehow an acknowledgement from Apple "we know the 12 battery is bad...so heres a higher trade in for a new battery, the rest of the credit is for out little improvements" (I know...I think way too much late night when I'm bed...LOL)

AND then there's another part of my brain...the rational part that thinks. "why would you want to give them more $$$" after the terrible support about this issue.

Yeah, at first I saw a handful of people talking about their low batteries and ... we get that every year - usually a few people who have really bad battery life, but the 12 had more than just a few - it still isn't a TON but it's more than a few.

My wife's 12 Pro Max and my 12 Pro Max both started out at 104%. She has 2x the cycles I do and uses MagSafe 100% (I use wired - anything I can find, batteries, 20w, MacBook charger, or an Insignia wall plug). Now, almost a year later, she's at 93% - it's dropping fast. I'm still at 103.9%.

Some here still have 100%+ and use wireless. Some have low % and use the 5w.

I know you didn't ask me but what I would do?

The 12 Pro Max is the first phone I paid for outright. I've been on the Apple Upgrade Plan since it started (until the 12 Pro Max). So I paid for 2 years of AppleCare+. I'm going to get my $ worth out of this phone. I'm going to use it for 2 years then trade it in next year for the 14. (Looks like the 11 Pro Max goes for $500 - so for the iPhone 14, a 12 Pro Max should go for around there).

Did you buy AppeCare+? I would run the phone down to under 80% and demand a replacement, then trade it in for $ next year. That's what I'm going to do especially if my battery drains hard next year.

I'd get my money's worth out of it.

That said, I've seen the other side (Android - I came from there long time ago) and I still decide to stay Apple - I don't think Apple goes out and tries to cheap out on batteries - their hardware is usually premium - but it is good to know what the other side of the fence has - grass appears greener but each side has their problems.

Look at the world of EV batteries - GM is having to recall LG batteries due to Bolt fires - going to cost them billions. Batteries are having issues because we're pushing them harder and farther than we ever have before.

I know and that is the confusing, baffling part of this. 5W can equal bad health, when some use 20W MagSafe still have great health. I didn't get the 11 iPhones...but I saw AFTER I got the 12, some were having issues..a "battery recalibration" in...I forgot 14.5(?) "fixed" this for some, not all. Perhaps thsi might be the problem with 12's...but I'm doubting this.

I bought the 12PM in full (trade in of 2yr, 2mo. old XS Max that still had decent battery, health of 94%). And I did get Apple Care+, I always do for piece of mind....but I did choose the monthly $9.99 option on that. Just in case I wanted to cancel it. for whatever reason. Getting the 13 back in Nov. didn't even enter my mind also.

The whole drain this down to 80% nonsense..it is what it is. I keep going back and forth with that option also. MAYBE by Nov 25, this will happen? The 1% drain that was happening every 7-10 days really has slowed down though in the past 2 months however..odd huh? And still a $69 battery replacement clearly cheaper than a whole new phone that MAY pose similar issues in 3-4 months (Feb..just 3 months of owning this - is when my health started dropping)

As posted above...been saying this also, just wish Apple would address this. No question they know there is an issue. Lot of posts here..again many elsewhere...and many may not know of the health, or bother to check it, even know how to check it. I do believe the issue is bigger than we'll ever know right now.

For me...frustration with this phone itself is really fueling and clouding my back and forth decisions.

92%

I have a launch day 12 Pro Max. Heavy user. First half of the year I charged overnight via lightning, last several months I've been charging overnight inductively.

I’ve had my phone since launch day and I just hit 99% on my iPhone 12 Pro. I’m interested to see where everyone else is sitting with their phones ...View attachment 1732134
Feb 19. Around the same time as mine... I only checked my "health" after a total 100% drain - overnight, off the charger. Nothing running. 99% I thought was very odd just under 3 months but no major concern back then.

In late Feb, getting a Genius Appt was still hard in Philly area with the covid. Set appointment...find the earliest date, time window if possible, then wait. Took 3 days to see them....Apple had no idea what happened, did the little test in the backroom. Just told me to wipe the phone out, start over. I did and no insane drain since. (I have wiped my phone out again since then after it was acting up in I think early June)

Lot of people started seeing the drain at the same time. Others, again..fine. Have 100% or even higher, Some had 100%+ and then suddenly a 5% drop in a week.

Now that you mentioned about getting your money’s worth, that make sense. I too paid outright for my 12 Pro Max and want my money’s worth. I’m paying monthly for AppleCare+ because at first, I wasn’t sure if I was going to upgrade this year or 2022.
