12 Pro for about 11mos. at 89% health right now. seems awfully quick to get that low. my iPX didn't hit below 90% until 2yrs IIRC.

having been to a Genius Bar appointment recently I can see they aren't going to acknowledge any battery issues, unless of course people are walking in with less than 80% battery with normal use. they give the same waffle they give anyone which is that the battery is performing normally etc. I think we make the mistake of keeping the battery topped up in the day and from now on I'm not going to do that..... I'll charge overnight and let it drain in the day as I think top up charging is counter productive as when the Genius Bar run stats on the device in store it looks like the battery is coping quite well in the day, but that doesn't take into account the top up charging in the day.....

I went to the Apple Store with my 12PM at 89% capacity, and walked out with a brand new battery for $79.
Although, in the end it became irrelevant because the Internet hype pulled me into buying a 13PM about two weeks later.

I bought my iPhone 12 on launch day and i've actively tried to avoid stress on the battery. I pretty much never used it while it was plugged in and i never charged it above 80% if i knew i'm not going out that day. That being said, my battery health stayed at 100% all the way to the iPhone 13 launch. However over the past 3 weeks it dropped all the way to 95%. This trend is a bit concerning but i guess the estimation isn't perfect and my guess is that the phone slowly drops a few percent only after it notices a good bit has been lost.

Basically take all the enjoyment out of using the phone as it's supposed to be used

good grief how do you keep up with following the rules you’ve set place?

I find it quite odd when you guys think that this "taking all the enjoyment out of using the phone" and that it's suppose to be some sort of burden. Most of the time I am already near a charger and barely even notice. I wasn't aware that plugging in a phone while sitting at a desk or driving in a car is something you must not have heard of? Lol.

My 12 Pro Max is now at 89% which is the lowest any of my iPhones since 2011 hit. I always upgraded every year until the XS Max where I switched to 18 months - 2 years. My 2.5 year old XS Max is at 91%. This is such a disgrace, but I’m going to keep using it until it hit 80% and get a battery change. I carry a portable charger bank for my S4 and other portables that need to be charged, so I’ll never run out of juice as long as I keep my charger bank charged.

I’ve sold my 12 pro which was at 89% after only one year so I can’t try it myself , but it seems iOS 15.1 has a tool to recalibrate the battery on iPhone 12 , did anyone try ? The last release candidate will very probably be the one released next week so no problem installing it with a beta profile…

I now believe it’s a hardware issue vs software issue, because I am still on the version the 12 series shipped with 14.1, and I am down to 89%. There’s no point in upgrading iOS, because no matter what, my battery is going to decrease the longer I use it or before I get a battery change.

Security patches are a good reason to upgrade. Especially if you use your phone to browse the web.

Why don’t you give iOS 15.1 a try , since it could change the calibration ? You’ve nothing to loose at this point…

First 9 Months: 100% -> 87%
Last 3 Months: 87% -> 87%

I had watched that battery health drop at an alarming rate for the first 9 months of use. But in the last few months it’s been stable at 87% for some reason.

BTW, I’m on 15.1 but at this point I’m rooting for battery degradation to 79% so that Apple can replace the bad batch of batteries rather than hide the problem with software updates.
