Unfortunately when it comes to battery replacements, they play all the games you can ever imagine and definitely not the Apple support you would expect.

Check out my experience with an iPad. Service center shipped this product back telling me everything is good. Unbelievable..

I think your video, experience makes me more angry than what I just dealt with. What the...!?
That is just pathetic! Clearly they didn't even look at it. Or simply could not care less.

Chat is one thing...its just a cold experience. The phone, again it depends on who you get as always. I've had a few this year that just had an attitude from the get go. (I swear, once you get that vibe...hang up and try again.)

A while ago...5, 6 years ago I've had what sounded like nice older very friendly woman. Totally willing to help. That is very rare now.

I'm in the U.S. 11:27pm now, I'm still waiting (chat started at 9pm)...if this person is still even there with the "template" responses. Literally 1 hour+ of dead silence, watching the Phillies game

About to end this waste of time. Clear to me this person won't do jack squat

Most days this would throw me into a pretty bad anger-rage fit, but I kind of of mentally expected this, getting myself, my heart worked up is not even worth it.

10, 15 years ago, the support, customer service used to be great. (For some here, it has...just have to get the right person I guess. I tend to constantly get useless people when it comes to this situation)

Personally, Apple support has been utterly useless for a long time, especially for this device. Sadly, this experience, this phone has left a very bad taste in my mouth.

Might be COVID related. More custoemrs calling in and less support people available

I’m at 87% 12PM since release date. I’m a heavy user but that’s fine because I upgrade every year so it is what it is and let apple deal with it when I get my new phone. Since I am a heavy user a single charge doesn’t work for me all day. I’d have to charge at least 2 times. Hopefully as the years go by the battery technology improves. I would call it a major inconvenience if I had to deal with a phone with less than 80% battery in 2 years.

I'm at 90% on my Mini. Seems a big drop to me after only 1 year. My 8+ still had 95% and that was up until last year. Granted, I have been using MagSafe a bit more these past few months. Don't know if that has taken a hit to battery health or not.

Or maybe it just could be the battery in the Mini isn't quite as good as some of the other iPhone models.

This sounds like a serious problem.

Been using my iPhone SE for about 5 years now and the battery health is at 85%
This does not encourage the upgrade to a second hand iPhone 12 at all.

I just found this thread. I had no idea other people were having issues with their iPhone 12 batteries as well.

My launch day 12 Pro Max is down to 91% after 114 cycles.

For comparison these phones will be 3 years old in December:
  • My Dad's XS Max is at 94% after 446 cycles
  • My Wife's XS is at 90% after 854 cycles
My dad charges exclusively with wireless charging while my wife and I use cords during the day and wireless charging overnight (I have a magsafe charger). It really seems like the 12 line has crap batteries.

I used this shortcut to read the battery cycles from the "log-aggregated" files under "Settings>Privacy>Analytics & Improvements>Analytics Data". I wish I would have known about these logs before. It would have been interesting to graph the changes over time.

I am a heavy user and I'm seeing about 360 cycles and it's at 87%. My wife is not a heavy user and hers is the same... We wirelessly charge at night and wired during the day. I've never managed a full day without reaching for the charger.

Exactly the same happened to me with iPhone 12 Pro, in June. Now my phone battery health is at 88%........

just found this thread? lol
mate its one of the most popular!

So use the 12 batteries heavily and they'll drop more than pervious phones. Barely use them and they'll reflect?

Explains my 104% and my wife's 93%. She's got easily 2x the cycles and uses MagSafe. Me? I'm lucky to use 25% of my battery in a day and I charge wired. She started out at 104% capacity just like me.

I do notice that these 12 Pro Maxes overheat rather quickly when in sun. I remember using my 6+ and 6s+ out in the sun all day for Ingress without issues.

I've never had an iPhone battery as great as my 12 Pro Max. My usage is unchanged from previous iPhones. I'm lucky if I use a few % of capacity tho over the life of the phone (1-2 years for me)...

I hope Apple figures this out. I ended up getting a new device (accidental damage claim) but my 12PM was getting so hot in extremely light use, while not even charging, I’m convinced there is a real quality issue with iPhone 12 series batteries.

I have an AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider, they use genuine Apple parts and gear) very near me. I exchanged emails with them and they confirmed that they are willing to do a battery replacement on my 12 Pro, even though the battery is still above 80% health. They quoted me $89 ($20 more than Apple) and said it takes about two hours. I think I will pass on getting a 13 Pro and take them up on the battery swap.

Had my 12 PM since launch and is at 97%, pretty heavy usage and I like to charge with the mag safe charger most the time which makes the phone so so so hot that it even disables flash sometimes. But I do not "over charge" and always take it off before I reach 90% as often as I can as well.
Edit: since posting this my battery % has dropped to 93%:oops::oops: yikes fast. 311 cycles

What's your charging routine like??
Cable or Magsafe?

It's half cable charging, half wireless mophie/car charging. The battery life has been great and there's charging options wherever I'm usually at, so I rarely ever ran it down til the phone died. Also left optimized battery charging on.

Iphone 12 pro got a drop of health after 4 months of usage, then rapidly reached 92% in just 3 months(mid March to mid June), then replaced with new battery at free after repeated checking in Apple store. I started to use new battery at mid June but it started to drop again on today, exactly 3 months. It is 99% on iphone health page but coconut said that my health is only92%!!!!!! just 39 cycles. MY Xs and X were 100% at 1y with same kind of usage. Never fast charge, never drain, never wireless, always charge before reaching 60-70%, Xs/X were 100% at 1y. 2 batteries with similar result, though same production origin of battery. I really wonder that ip12 series has global battery problem or motherboard issue in certain patch.
