This has to be a bug right, since battery health is decreasing exponentially now or recently, then it did since we first got it.

iPhone 12 Pro Max - been keeping it 40-80 most of its life - (usually sees 60-85 on a normal day). I use whatever plug is available - usually an Anker battery or a MacBook charger. Before all day events I will charge to 97-100% ( rare these days ).

To other folks - fluctuation is normal. Observing it over time is the only way to get a real bearing on where your battery is. Always check it at the same charge % as well. It is normal for a battery to fluctuate. Before my iPhone 12 Pro Max, I kept most of my phones plugged in whenever I could (meaning they spent most of their lives at 100% charge). I would lose on average 5-6% every 1.5 years or so.

Doing this 40-80% seems to have a very noticeable effect on battery longevity. I'm seeing same thing on my MBP with AlDente.

You should be at over 100% health even at 200 cycles. Will update my post after 200 cycles, but so far 104% health even at 125 cycles. My use is charge when available, use Magsafe 99.9% of the time and I don't have a strict 40-80% level whatsoever

Nah im convinced that my replacement is brand new ... they just plug it into their machine and change the model prefix with 'N' instead of leaving it a 'M" Also the replacement had zero charges and also the unit according to 3utool wasn't opened or have any parts replaced.
Typically warranty replacement is remanufactured units with casing, screen, and batteries will be brand new. 🤣

This is what I always do with my iPhone. 40%-80%. Never fully charged. So far still 104%.

for my MBP M1, I do have ADente Pro and have the charge limiter to set at 80%.

My launch 12 pro has dropped from 99% in January to 91%. I contacted apple support regarding the issue and they just provided me with a bunch of information regarding battery degradation and how to properly store and charge the phone. They told me not to worry about it and quickly brushed me off.
Did you try calling them again. Hoping to get another specialist on the line?

No, I'm actually not too worried about the issue as the phone still seems to be performing well. I mostly was interested in what they had to say about it. I pretty much knew going into it that it would be a slim chance they would do anything at this point. If anything it will be documented on their end now.

Usually I don’t buy this BS but seeing that I don’t have much options I’m going to drain my battery to 0% and a do a full cycle charge.

Currently at 92% battery health with actually 118 charge cycle (not 168 which I previously mentioned)

Ive never let my iPhone go past 20% before without charging, nor have I ever let my iPhone completely die. But I’m surprised that I got over 6 hours of screen on time.

but then again; I did mostly a whole lot of nothing and just letting the phone sit with the screen on in settings or the Home Screen. I wasn’t actually doing that many tasks on it.

But if I got 6 here from a full battery and I can’t imagine how much I would’ve gotten on my iPhone 11 Pro which was a battery champ for me

Quite randomly, optimised battery kicked in last night after ages when it hasn’t been working. In my view since optimised battery stopped working my overall battery health has dropped by 1% a week. Let’s see how long optimised battery works for this time.

My launch day 12 Pro Max is at 98% now with 188 charge cycles. I’m not bothered by it since I have AppleCare+ and will just have the battery replaced if I notice it get worse. Even though I have a 20W charger, I still use my 5W charger, charge overnight, in the car for CarPlay and have a Anker portable charger that I use here and there when the battery drops to 20%.

For those with lower than 100% battery health, how’s the ambient & phone temperature while charging? I bought iPhone 12 Pro Max in December 2020, just now, coconutbattery is showing 101% battery health with 119 cycles. I charge it with MagSafe or MagSafe Duo charger with apple 20W USB-C Power Adapter (inside an apple official silicon case), in an air conditioned room, on top of a cooler master notebook cooler (it’s pretty hot in Jakarta). I tried the 60-80% method 99% of the time, unless I have to go out all day. Based on my understanding with a very limited knowledge and research, heat can reduce battery quality permanently, unlike cold. Just my 2 cents, CMIIW.

I must be in the minority who doesn’t want to resort to a repair, and trying to avoid it at all cost.

My new replacement / refurbished iPhone 12 Pro Max seems be awesome on battery life. Can last the day without getting battery anxious.

Im going to try charging overnight only with a 5W. Previously it was on a wireless charger whenever I was at my desk. Im guessing the often charging and stop and charging that can cause increased wear on the battery.

I looked in my new version of Coconut. Previous batteries were over 100% Health (I for I did trade that 8 in with a full 100%) XS Max, that's correct with the health reading trading that for the 12PM.

88% - and 56 cycles - is now showing on my 12 PM.
Give me a break! 😒

(My 12pm DID show 99% in late Feb., not this "94%") Bizarre numbers on this phone.
*And I have no idea what it really was in Nov. 2020.

*** I noticed something on my XS Max battery chart below, why did my "Battery ID" change?
I never had that replaced, do ID's change? Not that it matters right now, just curious.

Let’s start a class action lawsuit guys.

Since OP created this thread, he should be the one to initiate this and be responsible for it. 😄

Just finished speaking to apple support. The rep was of no help to me. It took me 30 minutes of arguing with him for him to finally do a diagnostic. When it was done he said it was fine. He kept on telling me of ways to improve battery life and sending me apple support articles. I also have another issue where my battery just drops for no reason. He said the same thing about that issue. What a waste of time.

Anyone tried draining to zero and then a full charge with the phone off?
Oddly that is almost how my fiasco sort of started - how I first noticed the mess.

100% health in late Feb. Left it off the charger overnight (about 6-7 hours), woke up to a dead 0% phone & 99% Health. No reason, even a trip to the "Genius" Bar had no idea. Just stated "wipe of the phone, reinstall OS" And also said "battery is normal." (cool...thanks [eye roll ])

I did....that 100% overnight drain didn't happen again - yet, but 2 days later the health was 98% Been a steady drop since.

Same thing here , no way to get a new battery even if it is at 88%.
I just hope it well reach 80% to get a repair before September when I'll sell it for the 13 , otherwise who's going to buy an iPhone with a bit more than 80% after a year...
