Maybe it's a good thing no Android OEM do this. Looks like it only creates paranoia amongst consumers.
Yep. 12PM my first iPhone, after whole life on the Android and while it's not bother me too much, it's definitely hard to stop checking this pointless number (and recent calibration for the 11'th series made this numbers even more pointless).

Battery still continues to drop by 1% every 2-4 weeks. I tried using the 12w charger instead of my 18w charger, didn’t make a difference. Optimized battery charging is enabled with all the other required settings in location services on my 12 pro purchased October 2020. No change battery life still getting about 9 hours usage.

Hope that iOS 14.7 will solve this problem! The situation is getting worse every week. I have already done a full restore, went to Apple genius but my battery each day is consuming more than the day before. Now I have to re-charge my iPhone 12 Pro each afternoon if I want to reach evening... That is not acceptable for a 6 month old device!

With all of the issues you all are having it seems like it’s due to iOS 14.6. My launch day 12 Pro Max is still on 14.1, so no battery issues and my battery is down to 98%. I’m definitely going to wait until iOS 15 is officially launched now.

Mine will ship to Apple repair service tomorrow: today speaking with the Apple support the technician agreed with me that the battery drain occurring to my device it is not normal...

Will Apple just replace the battery once it reaches 80% or does it have to exhibit other behaviors for replacement? My battery is down to 90% and I estimate it will be at 80% by year end.

launch day 12 pro here. battery at 90% health. charged with anker wireless pad for about 3 months and then bought a magsafe charger and have been using that since. the only reason i even checked the health is that about a month ago i noticed my battery running quite low in the evenings. this particular iphone has the fastest degrading battery of all the iphones i’ve owned.

it’s dropped 2 percent in the month that i’ve been monitoring it.

one thing i noticed from the start is that although optimized battery charging has always been on, it doesn’t do anything. i’ve never seen the phone pause at 80% charge, ever. it always charges to 100% quickly and then sits there all night per the 24h battery graph.

frack, i think optimized charging doesn’t work since i had “significant locations” turned off. it would sure be nice if apple warned that a feature would not work owing to the config of a different setting!!

It never worked for me in iOS 13 or 14 and it finally popped up for me on 15.0b1

I got my iPhone 12 Pro Max back in November 2020, and it has 101 charge cycles on it. The battery health is already down to 89%, which is much worse than any iPhone I've owned before. Apple definitely has a bad batch of batteries in some of 12 Pro Max! My friend bought the 12 Pro Max at the same time from another store, he abuses his iPhone much much worse than me, and his phone still has 97% battery health left after 200 charge cycles!

Same here on my mini. Optimized charging has never worked. On my 12 purchased on launch day works every time I charge it overnight. The mini was purchased directly from Apple on 01/01/2021.

i guess optimized charging is borked up... i turned on significant locations so we'll see if it eventually starts working. too late for my battery though.

i checked my wife's launch day iphone 12 (no pro) and it is at 89%. she uses her phone pretty heavily for her job, so maybe this is not surprising. mine is not as heavily used so i didn't expect it.

does applecare+ have a battery health threshold above which they won't do a battery service? last time i needed a battery replaced was way back on the iphone6.

Apple's official line is that they won't replace the battery until it reaches 80% health. However, depending on your persuasion skills, some people have managed to get service before then.

That is what they are supposed to do. If the battery hits 80% health in under 12 months it's a free replacement.

At the rate my phone is going (and many others), we should hit that mark by End of Sept-beginning of Nov. Right now many can't get service, Support and the stores are pretty useless.

I would ASSUME they are seeing a major trend by now with depleting battery health and HOPE Apple will address it soon.

*If those who may hit 80% on the 13th, 14th month (etc) and have to pay in Dec., Jan. for example...the charge should be waved!

In a perfect World, that would be nice.

Finally reached 90% battery health guys. Totally something wrong, lmao dropped like 3-4% in a month

Seriously curious what happens when I reach past 80%. Though I guess Apple will slow down my phone I assume.

If that’s the case, IMMA BE SO MADD. I DONT WANT TO GET A REPAIR. UGHHHKGKFKFK. Supposed to be my last iPhone for a couple years and now it’s not. God damn it.

My launch day 12 Pro Max is at 97%, it was 100% the last week of May. I have noticed that it drains quicker after 14.6 was installed.

Wow my battery health literally just dropped another percentage again in less than 3-5 days?

I’m expecting my iPhone to drop its battery health even faster with iOS 15 betas considering how it can be such a battery drain, which equals to more battery cycles.

my iPhone right now is lasting 2 hours of screen on time at 89% battery health running an iOS 15 beta.

Mine is at 99%, your battery health is fine. I don't worry about it until the percentage drops below 80%. Also 2 percent from perfect : )
I now keep my battery between 40 and 80 percent.

late responds. But I only mentioned it because the iPhone 8 preforms better than my new iPhone 12.
which is now on 96% and dropping.

battery on this device is just bad. And I understand your comment of ‘2% of perfect’. Still think it is a bad quality / price issue. I expected much more.

Yes, lol
