Agree on 2020... what an epic fail year!
This happened with XS as well. Weeks of issues with dropped service in low signal strength areas. Eventually resolved by carrier and/or iOS update.
The problem is when your return window approaches and the issue is not yet fixed you wonder what to do...
Yup exactly. When I spend $1200 on a phone, I kind of expect it to work. I can’t even call using Apple CarPlay without it dropping MULTIPLE TIMES.

How many that are on Verizon with this issue are on the new 5G unlimited plans? I switched my plan to the 5G unlimited plan 10 days before I got the 12 Pro. I also had the switch to the new plan occur immediately, and not wait until the new billing cycle. I have had no problems with my 12 Pro with the new plan, even in areas with weak signal (1 bar).
This is really interesting to me, given my issues. I am on a one iteration earlier of Verizon Plan (the Get More Unlimited) with 75gb premium data, and they added 5G provisioning to the plan when I activated the 12 Pro (even though prior it did not have 5G mentioned at all). So it now shows 5G on the plan.. though I never "switched the plan". I am wondering if what you are saying could be a resolution for me. Though I am hesitant to switch since the new "Get More Unlimited 5G UW" plan only comes with 50GB of Premium Data, if it solves this for me... I'd do it. What good is an extra 25GB of data if it doesn't work at all. :-/. @Packers1958 - you might be on to something.

I wouldn't quickly change plans based just on my experience. Doesn't explain why people on AT&T are having the issue too. Of course, they could be separate issues, and one solution with one carrier may not fix the issue with the other carrier.

Agreed. I am on with Verizon now, will see what they come up with. One question - Are you in a 5G area?

I’m not US based but in the U.K. Just to report I have a iPhone 12 Pro on O2 UK I am also having the same issues as above. I am in a fairly weak signal areas at home but on my iPhone X would hold 1-2 bars of signal the 12 Pro will have the same then drop to 0 bars until I switch Airplane mode on and off.
It also happens when moving in and out of cell service areas. All these areas so far are non 5G.
I have also reported this issue to my carrier and Apple support.

Very frustrating!

this must be location dependant my connection on verizon wtih my 12p has been great so far.

I’m on the new plan. Still having the issue.

I’m hopeful that the next update that rolls out with the release of the mini and Pro Max fixes the issue (Probably 14.2?). Assuming it would be on 11/10, which still seems like a while from now while continuing to deal with this problem.

The new beta for 14.2 could drop today. Hopefully there may be something that directly addresses the issue. Anyone here running the betas on their devices?

I'm running 14.2 beta 4 (build 18B5083a) on an iPhone 12 Pro and am also experiencing cellular dropouts on Verizon in areas I've never had issues previously. I transferred the SIM from my iPhone 11 Pro and also had Verizon reprovision the SIM but still continue to experience issues. I was going to swap SIMs or move my service to the eSIM but will wait for the next beta to see if that fixes things. For me, it's been pretty reliable where and when it drops.

Hopefully Apple releases beta 5 today that resolves the issue, but it doesn't really sound like it's been universally acknowledged to be an Apple issue yet

Are you on a 5G SIM now? Seems it does not matter which SIM you choose. I doubt it is an Apple only issue. Possibly requires both an iOS and carrier update. Keep us posted on the 14.2 beta, please.

I tried 14.2 beta 4 on my iPhone 12 Pro and experiencing cellular dropouts on AT&T. I’m using the sim card that came with the iPhone 12 Pro. iPhone 6s never had an issue. Tried LTE only option. I also tried a full iOS 14.1 restore. Still having issues.

Just came back from AT&T. They said about 50 people walked in today with new phones for the same reason. Said both Apple and AT&T are working the issue and the only workaround for now is to install a SIM card that does not support 5G, wait for Apple/AT&T to fix the problem, then come back and add the 5G SIM card again. We agreed as the phone is otherwise useless. So no 5G for now. No dropped connections since then so far... nice job Apple and carriers testing your 5G crap.
Might try re activating my iPhone 11 SIM card then and putting it in the 12 for now

I am on Verizon, not having any issues with dropped calls. However, when my iPhone 12 Pro is on WiFi at my house, it is like a snail. I cannot connect to websites or download things. When i turn off WiFi, it's very fast on LTE or 5G. Is anyone else having WiFi issues with their iPhone 12? My internet is working fine. I WFH everyday and stream YouTube or Netflix with no issues, and my WiFi iPad is great. My phone though... nothing.

I'm exactly the opposite. Only on Wifi will I get reasonable speeds. Verizon tops me out at 4mbps regardless of connection or location. I confirmed I am not even close to any data cap (25GB) to be throttled. FWIW, I was on an older unlimited plan with 5G and switched to the newer one. And I also tried my older 4G SIM card. No difference in either case.

Go into settings on phone, click on wifi, click on blue circled i next to name of wifi you are connected to, and make sure low data mode is toggled off.

I was just about to post and now I see others are having this issue too!

I keep losing signal sitting in my office. Never had a problem with my XR, I'd get 4 bars of Verizon LTE all day long. I have noticed it drop out completely to no service at least 5x today. Going into and back out of airplane mode brings it back (I haven't waited to see what happens on its own).

I am not in a 5G area, but I did just update my plan to one of the Unlimited plans that include 5G on Oct 15.

Edited to add: I dropped a call yesterday in a spot I usually have bad service. With my XR it used to just cut out a little but never drop the call. However, after the call dropped I couldn't get my phone to connect back to the cellular network again and finally had to restart it to get the signal back to return the call, miles down the road.

Curious, what is your modem firmware listed as?

My wifes 12 Pro has been dropping cellular and going to no service quite frequently.

Mine has only done it once or twice so far. My biggest gripe is that when I call someone, the call breaks up, they can barely hear me they say it cuts in and out but I can hear them fine. Same issue with Facetime, I can hear them no problem but my audio completely cuts out for them.

Is anyone else experiencing that as well? Regardless if I am on wifi or cellular. I’m really hoping this issue is all related and will be fixed at the same time.
