Do you guys use HEIC or jpg?, I've always used jpg, but heard HEIC gives better image quality. I'm no photographer and I use a pc so should I just keep going with jpg or is the difference very noticable?

HEIC takes up less space and is a better quality image. iPhones should be saving in that format as standard unless you’ve changed the format setting?

Some shots this weekend with 12 Pro.

Yes, I changed it to jpg. Having read that there could be compatibility issues when sending photos to non apple user like they can't use see it and app issues as well. Don't know if this is still an issue? and if the change to HEIC is noticeable?

My iphonePro in Pacific blue gets delivered Tuesday. Last Friday I went to best buy just to hold and see an actual iphone12Pro. They had one in gold. I was a tad underwhelmed with the Gold one. Had tons of fingerprints on it, but I guess I'd expect that on any of the colors. The back was creamy....just did not do it for me. I'm thinking I will like the PB better. I have a second one ordered also, just in case this first one has the "Yellow" problem. There is no way I'd be comfortable with the contact tracing thing, so i'm glad it does not seem to work well on this new phone, as I have it turned off on my current phone, and old iphone6+. I plan on using a clear case on my new iphone12Pro. Going from an iphone6+ to this new phone, I expect to notice a huge difference. I'm actually more excited to be able to start using my new iwatch6 that is gathering dust waiting for this new phone, as it does not work with my current iphone.

These type of comments make me laugh. The reality is you are already be tracked by a plethora of organisations and the contact tracing app is open source and the API is developed by Apple and Google in partnership. If you are worried about tracking you probably should get rid of any devices you own.

Out of interest is the app pre-installed on your device then with the latest iOS update? I ask because here in the UK you have to specifically install the app from the App Store.

Please don’t call it an iwatch. It makes me cringe.

I see....so they are now just called "watch" or "Apple watch".....but phones are still iphones.....hummmm.....

Yep. Some products still have the 'i' such as iPhone, iPad and iMac but the others don't. I hear people say iWatch all the time. I think that's because it's been synonymous with Apple since the launch of the original iMac.

Apparently Apple gave the iMac that name because the 'i' referred to Internet.

Battery life is disappointing. I woke up at 8 AM after letting it fully charge all night. It’s a little before 12 PM and it’s already at 37%. And to be honest I haven’t really even used it much today.

Similarly disappointed with mine. Not as bad as yours, but I lose about 8% of the battery per hour with light-to-moderate use. If I'm using it consistently, it's more like 20% per hour. My iPhone 11 (not Pro) was noticeably less than that.

Have turned off 5g, hopefully it at least matches the 11 now.

Also shut down any social media account and most of the online services that happens to be in the form of an “app”.

At least on this side of the pond, no states had came up with any third party app. There is, however, the contact notification API and basic settings on the Settings / Exposure Notifications for each iOS 13.7 or higher device.

I found that Airdrop was causing poor battery performance as well. Since I never use it I turned it off and my battery life improved a good deal.

Cool...I've learned something today....! Thank you.

I understand.....and I did watch "The Social Dilemma". Mind you, with my old iphone, contact tracing is something that is in the ios...(I have ios 12.4 currently for my phone6+) and you can turn it on or off. I know Covid is a serious thing worldwide...where I live, (rural) it is not something folks think about 24/7 and cower in fear. Of course, some do. It is a volatile issue and it falls outside an Apple conversation...and many are quick to shame you if you do not have the same mindset as they do....let's just say many around here turn that part of the phone off. I am assuming that I will be able to do this with my new phone....hopefully.

I ordered a super similar case for my Pacific Blue 12 Pro. Very happy I went with the black colour over the fully clear case, this looks awesome!

I've moved from an iPhone 7 to the 12 Pro so noticing a big difference.

I was worried it would feel to big and heavy in the hand but actually it feels comfortable and solid. Not too big for my pockets either. The edges do feel quite sharp but of course it has a protective case on already. I went for the Torras Diamonds case which still shows off the back colour nicely. The lips are slightly raised, which should protect the glass better, but not so intrusive as to make 'swipe up' unlock awkward. It feels comfortable to use, but is obviously a bit plasticky. Might look at the Apple leather cases when they come out - they do have a lovely hand feel.

The screen was yellow initially, when transferring data, but I switched off True Tone after set up and it now looks fine. Coming from the IP7 it looks huge but also incredibly sharp - the detail in previously stored photos, taken on my DSLR, really pops out. Transferring data from the old phone was a doddle and only took half an hour.

Speed is hard to quantify but everything on the phone just feels quicker and smoother, whether using wifi or 4/5G. 5G works but I have to go to the front of the house to find a signal - will only be an issue when my flaky (Virgin Media) wifi conks out.

Haven't done any battery testing but initial impressions are OK. Will need to use it for a few weeks before I can really tell. An hour long Facetime call, which would have killed my IP7, drained 15% of the battery. Wireless charging overnight using a cheap Anker Qi charger was silent and effective (with the Torras case on). I don't see the need for MagSafe.

I've been out for a bike ride using Strava and can report that the GPS seems more sensitive and accurate than on the IP7. Had an opportunity to test the camera out too. Again, this isn't a formal test, but I've loaded the images onto a 27 inch Mac and they are definitely crisper than similar photos taken with the IP7. I haven't tested the night mode functionality yet, or the LiDAR sensor (except to try the Measure App to see how tall my family are!).

One little wrinkle, which has been picked up in the Press - the NHS Covid-19 App failed to work after transfer from the IP7. So I deleted it, then downloaded and set it up again. It's working again, but it's lost my previous data.

I haven't really tested out the additional benefits of the IP12 Pro over the IP12 yet, so all of these comments would apply equally to the IP12, which is also 25g lighter. But, overall, I'm really pleased with this upgrade so far.

I called Verizon earlier today and found out there was an issue with my activation - somehow the 5GUW wasn’t active for my line. They fixed it and I found that I now have this from my porch ;)

Yep, my husband has to call in the morning for his as well. He’s get LTE speeds although signal says we are on 5G. Figured it was an activation issue. Easy enough to fix I’m sure. Glad that you posted this.

I read of complaints of being a fingerprints magnet : is that true?
It look beautiful though
The Stainless Steel sides are a fingerprint magnet, but not anything to worry about with a clear case that still shows its style and protects it from finger prints.

I was referring to the case 😆
