Picked up my Gold iPhone today. Haven’t been to the 5th Avenue store in years, so it was an experience.

Thank you to everybody who posted pics of the Gold phone, she is gorgeous (yes my phone is a she). My hand has already adjusted to the new size (I do the pinky supporting the bottom hand hold). I would say my tiniest criticism is that I wish they had kept the display at 5.8”. Reachability is definitely going to be used by me a lot.

Also picked up the Plum apple case - my fist Apple case. Unfortunately, my screen protectors are still in transit from Spigen, so I slapped one of my 11 Pro’s one on it. Ill fitting, but it’s better than nothing.

Tomorrow I’m going to put my dear Poison Ivy (11 Pro) up for sale on Swappa. If I can’t get a sale in a week, I’ll trade it in at the Apple store. The Sales Associate said I had 14 days to do it.

Wow. Woke at 7am, it's now 1pm - battery at 92%. (Working from home, so only using wifi)
Hmm, makes me think something is just wrong with mine then. Just looked at my usage from today, and with 13 minutes of use over two hours (same WFH, wifi only), I was well under 92%. Fairly dark room, so I don't think it's screen brightness.

Yeah it sounds like something is wrong with your phone. It reminds of my iPhone 7 which would drop from 100% to 90% overnight without using the phone. My recommendation is to swap out the phone while you are still within the 14-day return window. Apple won’t be able to fix the issue since these ghost activities do not show up in the Battery page.

Before you jump into replacing the phone, I would suggest setting it up as a brand new phone. You can sync the iCloud stuff and manually download your apps but I’ve have had a lot of trouble, mostly with older apps, eating battery like nobody’s business, if I just transfer data from one phone to the other. A recent culprit was my FordPass app running 100% of the time on the background, but that was an easy one to pinpoint.

The difference between the 11 Pro Max and the 12 Pro:
There is a one line of text difference in usable screen space from the 11 Pro Max and the 12 Pro.
The the 12 Pro is about 2mm taller compared to the 11 Pro. And since the bezels are narrower, the 12 Pro isn't any wider. Somehow Apple has been able to fit a 6.1" screen inside, "in the hands feel," of the X/XS/11Pro.

It is definitely brighter, once you turn off auto-brightness and max the brightness slider. If you keep the auto-brightness on and slide the brightness slider down, you will let the phone save battery.

5G, right now is just a label. I have not seen any difference between LTE/5Ge an 5G... Just in my area I guess. We do have 5G, according to the phone, but not nearly the game-changer the cell companies are selling us. Time will tell.

Really the phone is not much at all different than my 11 Pro. I am not complaining. I get a new phone each year, and if I get the same phone, it's not a big deal, I am feeding an iPhone family of 5 and well everyone gets something better, so we all win. Some win better than others.
It's narrower though. The iphone 11 while having a 6.1" display is definitely a different experience to the 8 Plus (5.5") for example again due to having a narrower screen. So there is more text reflow, smaller keyboard etc. Sticking with Pro Max choice.

I wish Apple Hong Kong had such a relaxed return policy. Unfortunately, we aren’t able to return products unless they’re defective.

I received my Pacific Blue on Friday and went to check out the other colours on Saturday. The Graphite is absolutely stunning and it almost made me regret getting Pacific Blue. I’ve always gone for the Black/Grey option so perhaps I was just not used to having something different. Fast forward a few days, now I’m very happy with the Pacific Blue. I just wish I could appreciate the colour a bit more while out and about. I’m using the Caudabe Veil case which arrived today. I’ve used this case for my past two iPhones and love the super slim dimensions. I was using the Apple silicone case for a couple days but find them too thick, although they’re very well made. I’ve tried several clear cases in the past and just find them too thick, too slippery, too prone to fingerprints, or just cheap feeling/looking. We can’t have everything I guess.
So Apple in HK doesn’t allow returns within 14 days? I’m surprised to hear that as I thought that policy was worldwide. Can you do it if you pay a restock fee?

Thanks for the help! I'm hesitant to set it up as new, last time I tried that (several years ago) it was a big time sink and some things like my Health data didn't come back. I did have a couple apps (games I play) running in the background that had used some battery, so have started force quitting those to see how much it helps. I'm also having serious reception issues, so I'm really wondering if something's just messed up with this thing. Just trying to figure out if it's software (and will be patched) or hardware. Had such a bad experience trying to get my Airpod Pros fixed, I'm desperately hoping it's the former.

You can try this just to see if it improves; if it does, you might have some answers and might save you the trouble to get another phone only to find out it will behave the same way. If it does not, you can wipe it one more time and recover from your previous backup. Worst case scenario, you will lose a day or two of iCloud data you will discard from the “blank” phone.

Products from Apple (HK) cannot be exchanged or returned, the only exception being if products are defective. Pretty strict policy.

Apple (HK) Returns & Exchange Policy

In the beginning, Apple HK the same world wide worry free return window as in other countries.
But due to mainland Chinese scam Apple so much they eventually had no other choice than to cancel that policy.
The main problem was that the mainlander removed all inside parts of the phone and then just returned either empty phones or even fake iPhones. There were other forms of Scams as well.

Best iPhone I've ever had. Coming from the iPhone 11 pro where I was averaging 6 hours screen on time over 16 hours of being off the charger, I'm consistently getting about 9 hours or more within the same time frame and usage on my new pacific blue 12 pro. Half WiFi and half 5g. Awesome battery life.

As seen below, the phone got off the charger around 11am and I took this screen shot at around 4am the next day.

It’s very unfortunate that a few bad apples (pun intended) have to spoil things for everyone else. So you guys in the US who agonise over colour/model choices actually have it pretty good.

That's why I stay away from "new" devices sold on aliexpress and such. They're all refurbished and made to look like new.

If anyone is coming from an iphone XS i would wait.

I didn't find the experience much different. The phone does feel bigger because it is.

I also didn't like the pacific blue as much as it looked in photos.

The photos aren't that much better IMO for $1k. Love the form factor though! Like my ipad Pro.

Here is the unboxing.

Might not be the right thread but I'm looking for some good pictures or video of the silver or graphite iphone pro.. all the reviews got the blue one. anyone got silver or graphite?

graphite looks like theres a slight olive tone to it in the leaked pictures - is it really there?

Here you go this is the best iPhone 12 Pro review yet and done in Silver

I’m coming from the iPhone X. I noticed that the 12 Pro is definitely heavier than the X. Has the same type of feel as the iPhone 4S which I always considered the best design.
Everything else is fairly similar. Just a bit faster with the newest processor and a better camera and more software to make taking pictures more fun.

I’m using the Apple silicone case currently. Waiting for the leather version to be released. I also ordered the Bullstrap case (bourbon colorway) as well. I’ve always like the feeling of leather and the way it ages over time. And since this will most likely be my phone for the next 3 years, I might as well enjoy the case too.

Just set up my 12 Pro, coming from an X as well. Larger, faster and nice to look at. Picked a cheap clear case on Amazon, as I don’t like the Apple one with the MagSafe on the back. In all honesty since I will be working from home for foreseeable future - could probably go without the case.

I go caseless but I do rock a skin which I recommend. The iPhone 12 pro does scratch.

First impression..... phone is super fast. Camera is wonderful. The MagSafe magnets aren't as strong as I hoped. Thru a case it doesn't stick well to my vent magnet in the car (not a big deal). Size is good. The display though. Its not nearly as white as my X. Not as rich. Idk how to explain it but it seem more dull? And everything seems smaller. Is that because the screen is little bigger?
