I moved to a 128GB 12 Pro from a 256GB 11 Pro Max and have waited a full week before commenting in this thread. Long story short... I’m very happy with the new phone.

Look & feel is excellent. The stainless steel does indeed attract fingerprints, but the silver color really is gorgeous in person. It feels great in the hand is definitely more enjoyable to use one-handed compared to a Pro Max. This 6.1” size is the sweet spot.

iOS performance and cell data speeds/reliability are noticeably better. I haven’t seen any real battery hits using T-Mobile’s low band 5G network.

The only downside to moving from an 11 Pro Max was the obvious sacrifice in battery life. With that said, it really hasn’t been an issue for me. I typically end my 6am-11pm days with at least 50% battery with the 12 Pro. My 11 Pro Max would finish at 65% during the same time period.

The camera is better than ever, with much improved low-light performance. HDR videos look incredible on the phone and I look forward to more devices supporting the format.

All in all, I have no regrets moving on to a smaller (less expensive) device. I’m hopeful that next-year’s Pro will have a camera that’s on par with its bigger brother, but it still wouldn’t sway me from sticking with this size. It’s just more enjoyable to use and carry around.
Doing the same thing, but getting the gold one. Excited to get it in my hands on Friday.

I’m jealous of all of you who have gotten the regular Pro 3 weeks earlier. I’ve would have caved and order a Pro when I realized I wouldn’t be fully happy with it because I love the bigger screen size. Been used to the Plus/Max since the 6 plus. I have order the Gold option can’t wait to join all of you in the excitement.

I came from an X as well. As others have mentioned, the increase in physical size is minimal but the screen size is noticeably larger. It is easier to hold I am guessing due to the square edges.

I am very happy with it, the X is an excellent device but the 12 Pro is faster, smoother, and better reception imo.

The battery life is at least a third more. The photos load faster on Instagram. At this time I have not found any negatives.

I am not too happy with my silicone case in plum. The color is beautiful but I find it to be slippery. I have a Baltic Blue leather case on the way and hoping that will work better.
I came from X too, could not see upgrading to either the XS or 11. By far smoothest iphone Ive ever had. Can't comment on 5G as I am working from home and phone is on WIFI all day. X always seemed to be a bit narrow when typing the 12 seems to have remedied that.

Upgraded from the X to the 12 Pro. After 2+ weeks of use it’s a solid ‘meh’ from me. Launching apps and Face ID is much faster, but beyond the case redesign I don’t feel the upgrade is that big of a deal. Cameras are slightly better, but hardly a night and day difference. Suppose I’m getting jaded from large upgrades of years past, but after 3 years with the X I figured it was time for a change. The 12 Pro should be good for another few years, but until there’s a significant sensor improvement with the cameras (sort of like with 12 PM), I’ll be holding off. Crazy going from annual upgrades to no longer feeling its necessary.

I’ve been putting a custom camera skin on the back of my phones since the 4. Figured I’d keep it going

This is how I feel. Although I am a little more content than just meh. But I understand completely what you mean. I’ll be holding on to my 12 Pro for a few years like I did the X.

Over my first week with my 12 Pro, I actually haven't really noticed much changes from my 11. Some comments by others over the blue (positive). Feels smaller (partially by less rugged case).

But I got my sister upgraded with my old 11. And I will try to avoid lusting after the 12s Pro next fall with it's more power efficient 5G chip and faster CPU :)

I too am in this boat. The battery life and overall speed of the phone is much better. But I still miss the size and feel of my X. If the X had the same battery life I think I would return the 12pro TBH.

I'm in the same boat, albeit I have only had it since yesterday and have hardly used it. I put them side by side in the same cases and, other than the 12p being slightly smaller, you'd barely notice the difference. XR is a fair bit brighter, speed difference is negligible, bezels virtually the same size, 12p camera slightly better, can't comment on battery life as have not used it enough.

What does baffle me is how the xr and 12p have the same screen size yet you get more on the screen of the xr - can someone more technical explain why?

Like you, I think it just isn't the 'wow' upgrade as you get from the 6/7/8 model which, to be honest, is huge because it is just a much, much nicer design. I may keep it, I may not. On day 2, I can't really see what the extra £31/month is getting me. Maybe I'll save that £372 and see what the 13 is like this time next year!

Came back to the 12 Pro from a Note 9. Overall I like the device. I'm not a huge fan of the 6.1" display jump and I still think my iPhone 7 took better photo's that held more detail. This camera system doesn't impress me much at all.

Coming from X and therefore its not a holy s*it experience. But its a very good phone (pro Max). Only used it for 5-6 hours.

I picked up my iPhone 12 Pro Max today morning and my first impressions are very positive:
  • The display is great. This must be the best display out there
  • The metal frame looks very nice but also shows fingerprints. It makes the phone though to feel more premium, just like it did with the iPhone 4..
  • 5G on Vodafone here in Munich is not as good, but this is because of the coverage and not the phone..
  • I cannot comment on the battery life yet, but it seems to last exactly like the 11 Pro Max did.
  • The camera: I didn't have the chance to test it a lot but I certainly like the new 2,5x option and the Dolby Vision support.
  • The graphite color I chose is better than the space grey from last year. It is a tad darker than the space grey MacBook Pro and lighter than the 11 Pro Max space grey.
  • Speed: This phone feels even more faster than the 11 Pro Max.
  • The size: I like big phones and I don't feel that the Max is unwieldy. It is the perfect size for me and I don't have big hands. Of course one handed use is not possible, but I don't care about that.

Hello! Are you noticing any off axis blue shift when tilting phone 44 degrees while typing? I’ve noticed a degradation in viewing angles much earlier than my previous 11 pro max and also sister’s iPhone 12.

I just picked up my iPhone 12 Pro Pacific Blue 128GB from the Apple Store in Sydney Australia.

First impressions:
  • Coming from an iPhone 11 Pro Max and I am already loving the lighter weight
  • The pacific blue colour is beautiful. It's a cross between midnight green and space grey with a touch of teal. You get different colours in different lighting conditions
  • The squared off edges make it really nice to hold and it's less slippery compared to the curved edges of the last few years
  • Can’t tell the difference in the photos being taken compared to the 11PM. But then I’m no photographer
  • Match made in heaven when paired with the plum silicone case, but it doesn’t magically attach easily like they showed in the event.
  • MagSafe works as intended and the magnet attachment is quite strong I’ll watch out for the indent or ring on the back of the case shown in another thread
  • Still setting up my eSIM with my provider so will report back with 5G speeds once that’s done
Happy to take questions! Will try and answer when I’m on breaks from working from home :D

Some photos - Includes size comparison between the 11 Pro Max in a forest green leather case.

Can’t understand why the iPhone has nothing new, except WIDGETS. My phone is 7 and I updated to 14. There is nothing new, except WIDGETS. Who cares about them? Where’s the meat?

My first impression...this thing is beefy! Got the pro Max in graphite. It feels like a solid brick - that’s a good thing. Love the design. The flat sides make it easier to grip. The extra size albeit not much is definitely noticeable and will take some getting use to l, but it’s not a bad thing. Love this phone already. Only thing that would make it better is if the camera bump was gone. I’d rather have it be thicker, with more battery than thinner with a camera bump.

There is a color shift when tilting the phone about 60 degrees but this is common in OLED displays. When using the phone normal there is no shift whatsoever.

So I bought another unit earlier today and it does have the standard viewing angle degradation, but much better than my current unit which was degrading even tilting while typing

I’m absolutely floored by this camera. Granted, I’m coming from 3 years of an iPhone X, but this camera on a phone is crazy awesome. Sadly, MR forums will compress the sh*t out of these shots, but these are crazy comparable to my Nikon 5300 + my 24-70 F2 Trinity lens at first glance. Not a full replacement, but a nice quick shooter. Totally looking forward to taking this out in the middle of the night and capturing some nice empty shots.

I’m just not a fan for the 2.5 zoom with Night mode. Maybe I need a gimbal to get some crazy stability but I just felt the details were lacking compared to the 1x natural shots. Still, for it to be attached to a phone, it’s a damn good lens.
