It's not the same form factor. 12 Pro Max is thinner.

Apple has never put a X class chip in an iPhone, only the iPad.
Pro Max has 460 DPI, do you really need more than that? IMO, no.
7.5" is a tablet. Go get an iPad mini
Twice the battery size? Sure, for twice the phone thickness and nearly double the weight.
8GB of RAM? They just went from 4 to 6. We don't even know the impact on this. 6 might be good.
65-watt fast charger? It already uses the 20 watt fast charger. Samsung only goes up to 45w.

Did you just throw out random numbers?
I think you are trying to justify and are also satisfied with Apple's decisions on what a smartphone Pro Series should and can do.

With a reduction in CPU die sizes you can go with X/Z series chip in a smartphone. We as consumers should be receiving X series performance in an iPhone. The technology today allows it!!!!

What I am illustrating is that Apple can control its own market by creating and innovating an iPhone or a phone period that can surpass anything in its class under $2000. GB5 scores of 2000 single-core / 7500+ multi-score. Samsung has a foldable tablet that cost over $2000, why can't Apple push the iPhone to a bigger and better Pro Series. Apple buyers can budget more than $2000 for phones. The Pro Series is at best an incremental upgrade over the 12.

Be VERY interesting to see tests / reviews on the 12 max pro .. especially battery life

The tests are out. The battery last’s less because of 5G. And that’s with a brand new battery. Wait till 6 months down the road when it’s health is lower. Not going to be a good year for battery life! 9776B011-6480-4FA6-85B5-9B5FC6AE072A.jpeg

Bigger body than the 11 Pro Max, but 7% smaller battery? Aw.

Wrong.

While is slightly taller, it is also thinner, resulting in 7% less internal volume than an 11 Pro Max. It also has to accommodate an additional chipset and antennas for 5G that are not in the 11.

Maybe do some basic research before commenting next time.

Why would Apple put a smaller battery if the form factor is the same as an 11 Pro Max? Just b/c of the 5nm die size that's no excuse to shrink the battery.

Because it isn't.

fix one thing
break another

Next years model selling point. We've increased the battery capacity

Battery capacity will never increase, and will always decrease for the same form factor. This has been true since the dawn of the rechargeable electronics and has been true for every iOS device.

I am not even bothered about 12 Pro Max or even 13 Pro Max for that matter with my 11 Pro Max! Current form factor sort of hitting its limits on innovation.

I love XS Max design and the cameras all look excellent. 12 is probably for 6-8 owners. Certainly X generation can skip this one unless they go for bigger screen. Mini is a great compromise for those from >= X - 11 family.

Because it isn't.

Samsung can have a 5000mah battery with 5g and no one complaines of size or weight. if people complain over 226 grams of weight in their hand. GET TO THE GYM!!! lol

Apple can have a huge hit with the Pro Series...I think they missed the boat. Rather than make cuts, go all out and price according to the market!!!

A14X CPU (5nm)
120Hz ProMotion display
+500ppi screen
6.5" and 7.5" XDR screen sizes
6000 mAH battery
8GB DDR4
256GB and 1TB storage options
Apple Pencil capability
65-watt adapter (fast charger)

Price $1499, $1699

I would buy this in heartbeat! No need to make the Pro Series an upgraded 12 or 12 Mini. Makes no sense...

at least put a huge battery in the pro max. if people are getting the 6.7' phone they dont care about size. Adding 5g and you dont put a bigger battery!! jesus. that just doesnt make sense....But i am loving your stats, To bad that wont happen for about 5 years. lol

No one is talking about their Samsung either. I wonder if it’s because no one has one or if no one who has one wants to admit to it.

Lol, stockholders disagree.

I'm sure you've noticed by now that since Timmey they almost never been "all out".

Yeah you have no idea what you’re talking about

I wasn’t saying use the same exact battery. Apple have redesigned batteries in the MacBook in that tiered shape to squeeze more battery into tight spaces.

MacBook Pro has also had its battery capacity fluctuate over time. There were generations where it went down.

Do you know by how much? (I didnt, until I looked it up). If not, it's because it doesn't matter. The functional result (=usage time) is the primacy, not how it gets there (=capacity).

Tesla doesn't openly advertise horsepower numbers. Doesn't seem to bother anyone. As long as people know the consequence of power, which is the acceleration results.

Generationally, the iPhones in the same line (X -> 11 -> 12; XS -> 11 Pro -> 12 Pro; XS Max -> 11 Pro Max -> 12 Pro Max) maintain the same playback time or better. The only singular decrease is for video playback for the Pro, going from 18 to 17.

That's really all that matters in the end.

interesting— so then what would they sell next year. Yea I would love that model but that wouldn’t make sense for Apple
That's what Apple is doing to us now! They are giving us incremental upgrades. The iPad Pro gets refreshed just about every other year. So this needs to happen to the Pro Series iPhone. Just make it a standard phone that is future proof for 2 years. No need to update a Pro Series phone every year. You shouldn't have to...

Sure they are, just not on apple forums believe it or not. Saying that there is plenty of good discussion in the alternative forum when it comes to samsung devices.

I've owned 8 iPhones within 9 years I know exactly what I am talking about. You and I are used to the incremental updates. As an iPhone consumer, it's getting stale. iPhone needs to become a flagship phone. The Pro Series isn't flagship because of camera improvement. Most of the 12 vs 12 Pro photos will be negligible at best once they are reviewed side by side. Apple marketing this as a Pro Series phone for photo and videographers will be the wrong approach for iPhone 13 and 14 for the next 2 years.

I know agree with you. Why shrink the battery because of smaller CPU node. Makes no sense in a "supposed" flagship product.

Forums? Where are the mainstream media discussing this? There are active forums still discussing the show Lost. Doesn’t mean it’s a culturally relevant.

They have always been behind in the battery department. It’s seems that would be on top of list of the masses.

i canceled my Pro order to wait for the MAX. But, now i am not so sure. The reviews make this phone out to be average and i may wait to see if next years model handles the 5G battery hit a little better.

probably the smartest move! Only Cam improvements and not enough to make you say, “I need to have this”

Just because you can doesn't mean you should... The X/Z series chips have scaled up GPUs to handle the higher resolution screen and refresh rates. They also use WAY more power and are always paired with much larger batteries.

Why does apple need to hack a tablet processor into their phone when their phone processor is already faster and more power efficient than any of the other phone cpus? And as for 6 gb of ram vs 8 gb of ram. One of the reasons I upgraded ipad pro this year was to move to the 1tb version with 6gb of ram, but honestly i can't tell any difference at all, and i'm quite certain an ipad requires more ram than a phone no matter what.

I don't get why so many people seem to think their phone needs to match their pc's specs.

I have never once found myself using my 11 pro max and thinking "damn, if only it was a little faster" cause its always fast. I don't quite understand what you think the phone would do with all that extra horsepower other than wreck the battery?

The only people who care about MAH are people who want to criticize Apple. People who buy iPhones care about battery life not some number that’s meaningless without other information
