Just waiting for my new 12 Pro to come and I've found this thread. To cut a long story short, I've owned a OnePlus 8Pro a Note 20 and my wife has a S20 and they ALL have raised blacks and green tint to a certain degree . The OnePlus 8 Pro I'm using at the moment is the worst and that's why I'm getting rid of it , I just can't look at it anymore.OnePlus have been promising to fix it with a software update since it was released last March but they never have and have now gone quiet on it. I'm certain there's something hardware wise going with Samsung panels. Anyway ,I'm waiting on my 12 Pro and I'm fairly upset to have found this thread now! I have an old Samsung S8 and the display is much better than the newer phones I have, what on earth is the problem with these newer OLED panels?
We’ve both owned the same devices and experienced the same thing. I’m glad you posted.
What’s the problem? The common denominator, Samsung!

Yep I guess there's something going on with the Samsung panels. I originally thought it might be to do with the new high refresh rates but it can't be if panels with normal 60hz has it also. I'd like to see the new S21 Ultra display to see if that has it as I believe that's the first phone using the new LTPO displays (I think) . The annoying thing is if someone hadn't have pointed it out to me, I wouldn't have saw it, now I can't not see it! I'm certain 99% of users just don't notice it but for an OLED it's very bad.

Yep, my first Note 20 ultra had a green tint and as you know it wasn’t exclusive to 120Hz adaptive mode. My OP 8 Pro was not bad , but in low lights , grays would have a hint of green and the black crush was evident. Fortunately for myself I didn’t watch films etc on it.
Just know, raised blacks and overly zealous truetone are the norm for these devices.

You might get lucky at this stage, not all devices have this issue.

Yes, this is 6.1" Pro.

Anyone here actually have 6.1" Pro where rear camera serial numbers starting with G? And I mean camera serial number that you can check with 3u Tools (and not the actual iPhone serial).
Anyone seen this?

Got mine swapped out today, blacks seem better so far. Not to jinx it

Checked it on every brightness. Restarted the phone. No flickering. I can’t believe it myself too. 🤯
what’s your manufacturing week?

I am on my second pro max.
First one was F2LD week 44. Raised blacks and flickering at all below 99%.
Second one is G0ND Week 51. Raised black and flickering below 50%.

They must have changed something but not sure why cant they fix it completely. I have only 5 days left to return my second one and I am really confused. Phone is really nice but flicking issue bothers me more than yellow/green tint or raised blacks.

You seriously go by what one person perceives and it’s been changed and now doesn’t show raised blacks ? Be honest. 🥰

here’s an attached black wallpaper, at 30 % brightness it don’t dim turn off oled fully. Only way I can notice it, is if I am in pitch dark room and not looking at the iPhone screen directly.

I know how to look for raised blacks. I’ve gone through 6 iPhone 12s.

After 8 hours of testing this opinion may change, but here goes.
Some launch day iPhones have a hardware defect. Similar to how my launch AirPods Pro had rattling, these are first batch woes. The replacement iPhone does not exhibit any nonsense greys so far. If this changes over time is yet to be seen. I would say if you’re in vicinity of an apple store push for a replacement. Paid good money for the phone.
The display did show blacks eventually so it “could” be a software issue, but then how is it resolved in a new phone with the same OS. AirPods also were said to be software issue in the start, that wasn’t true.

Ha! I’m on my 2nd, and no raised blacks at all. At any brightness. The weird behavior of grey then black is also gone.
This. There are “good screens” out there. Mine doesn’t flicker, doesn’t have green tint and also not piss yellow. But it is frustrating how we have to play a lottery game to get it.

LMAO I take it back.
raised black on that 30% brightness wallpaper photo. Sigh.

Only thing that comes to mind is this is done to prevent OLED smearing.

Yeah okay 😂

in all honesty after the abysmal QC I experienced with iPhone 12 Pro Max units I received, I can live with the raised blacks issue. So long a greys don’t look green and frame isn’t scratched to bits I’m ok now. Wish you all the best. 🙏

Point being, no one should have to ‘live with’ any kind of defect on a £1200 product. Apple’s brand loyalty is beyond anything else.

my iPhone 12 Pro Max was in the very first batch in my country (41th week). And I have no problem with flash boot screen or green tint. My friends who received the same batch iPhone can confirm this too. While the guys owns iPhone of the 47th week have problem with flickering screen, and 100% of guys having iPhone of the 52th week and later have problem with flash boot screen.

Three green flickers during boot.
Green flashes when playing a black video at all brightnesses.
Green tint visible at all brightness but does away after several seconds if >~30%.
Production week 45

I haven't really noticed this in day to day usage since I use my phone with ambient light at nighttime, so not really concerned about it.
