Hmmm interesting, if apple don't fix this green tint crap with a software update, looks like I'll be heading into a apple store in a couple month time demanding (nicely) a new iPhone 12 Pro max.

The thing that stops me from exchanging is the fact that samsung fixed a similar issue with software update. Lets just hope Apple follow suit

Correct, apple also fixed the same issue on the 11 pros last year, taking their sweet ass time this year though. 😂

I'm upgrading to the 512 GB model because I could use the extra space and am trying to "future proof" my phone as much as I can (would like to keep it 2-3 years), let's see how the screen is on this new one. Should be here in an hour.
My current 256 GB has a good screen uniformity compared to the first 128 GB one I got in October, which had a terrible shift from red-ish to green-ish tint under low light, and obviously had the raised blacks.
This one has better uniformity but still raised black and flickering.
Knowing the raised blacks will still be there, I hope that at least the uniformity will be perfect!

EDIT: new 512 GB sample is one week older than the previous. I'm guessing there's less demand for 512 GB models.. Will check it out tonight after work for screen issues

So I managed to try the new 12 Pro I got and THE SCREEN IS PERFECT.
There is NO raised black issue and the Screen uniformity is perfect.
Too bad I found a big ass scratch on the back as soon as I opened the box and have already asked for a replacement from Amazon.
I didn’t think I would find such a perfect screen.... it’s unbelievable.
I tried the full black video with different brightness settings and there is no flickering at all. It just “flashes” once after the iOS video HUD disappears, then it’s pitch black.
I’m so torn on what to do... the scratch is definitely visible upon inspection. I know I will be staring at the screen of my phone rather than the back, but I can’t really let such a damage pass on a €1540 phone.
What to do?
Ps: I’ve tried 3 iPhones now and this one is by far the most uniform and it doesn’t seem to be affected by the flickering issue.
Production date is week 50, my previous 256 was week 51 and had the flickering issue + not so perfect screen tint (went from greenish to reddish).

So is it true newer models don’t have the green tint issue?

I tested two different samples, week 50 and 51. Surprisingly the week 50 one (currently using it) is perfect while the week 51 still had the flickering issue.
I think I’m getting my replacement and will try my luck again. May God help me lol. I just can’t stand having a scratched phone. I mean, if it was my fault, I’d live with it, but it was there when I opened the box...

Did you look up the serial number of the screen?

No, even the latest production batch has this issue.
Refer this post, 3rd week Jan 2021 produced and issue persists in all of his 3 devices.

Can anyone report if the green tint has been fixed with today beta release?\

Guessing no.

Anyone received latest 2021(January 2nd or 3rd week) Manufactured device, and still facing the raised blacks?

If yes, kindly post the production details, Thanks.
Mine is a 2021 (week 2) manufactured iPhone 12 pro. I don’t see any green tint but there was flickering and raised black on minimum brightness (Kinda look like washed out grey color). The screen is extremely warm too compared to my x and iPhone 11. I really hate the yellow screen. The photos I capture are so unrealistic. I hope they can fix this. 😅

Got a 2021 (week 2) manufactured iPhone 12 pro. First impression: The screen was really yellow. My iPhone 11 looked brighter on maximum brightness and the colors of the photos taken are more realistic compared to the 12 (true tone and night shift turned off). I am experiencing flickering and raised black screen on minimum brightness. No green tint or whatsoever. Will post a photo below. But it was kind of exaggerated maybe because of the night mode on my iPhone 11. By the way, I was playing the all black video from youtube when I took the photos.

I am also experiencing flashing of apple logo at startup whenever I am rebooting my phone. The apple logo would flash on the screen quickly then I’d have to wait for a couple of seconds before the apple logo reappear and then my phone would open.

Hope all of these will be fixed on the next update, if these problems are software related.

No, the phone’s serial number. The 5th digit on this one is a V while the previous was a W. 50th and 51st week respectively.
How do you read serial numbers? I have searched on different websites but they all tell different information. Mine starts with DNPDHxxxxx...

Google the Word „chipmunk“ and „serial“ and you’ll find a site that will show you all the information for your SN. You can change the last few digits or so if you don’t want to put in your real SN.

Got my iPhone 12 roughly 2 weeks ago and did notice the overly warm display in comparison to previous iPhone’s. Which wasn’t very appealing.

In regards to raised blacks, they’re definitely there on low brightness. I compared my 12 to my brothers iPhone 12 who recieved his a couple days ago, and there is a clear difference...his has no raised blacks at any brightness whatsoever. Which is very bizarre. I was certain after reading almost every post in this forum that every iPhone is affected by this, but maybe not.

I did the test using the video posted here and the plain black iPhone wallpaper, the results were the same.

This lead me to contact Apple support, who remain oblivious to the issue till this day, and declined reading any forums when I told them. They advised it could be a ‘bug’ and to factory reset my phone and try, which I have and the issue persists. It’s past my 14 days to return however, seen as though I have an identical iPhone to mine which doesn’t have raised blacks im hoping to atleast get a replacement.

I will keep you all updated, will contact Apple support again today.
